Steps taken to solve last year's problems
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Arm of Harm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the team being able to go father than last year hinges on Josh Allen’s improvement as a passer. It’s all the same players back. Small helps may be Gabe Davis taking more reps, getting Star L back into the rotation, AJ Epenesa second year, and Sanders staying healthy verses John Brown last year. Another year of complete continuity. -
Track speed vs. football speed
Straight Hucklebuck replied to TailgateChef's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Goodwin all the way. Stevenson is not close. -
There are a few teams with an Elite Top 2 pairing. Seattle fits that now with Metcalf and Lockett, and they drafted Eskridge. Julio and Ridley are just as a good as Metcalf and Lockett combined. Then you have teams with potential. On paper the Dolphins took a step forward with Fuller and Waddle added to Parker. Injuries and suspensions hurt their case. Cincinnati could be good with Chase, Higgins and Boyd. The 49ers top two are good with Samuel and Aiyuk. Same with the Vikings. Steelers may have a #1 in Claypool, but Smith-Schuster has not been the same player since the Cleveland concussion and Johnson has too many drops. For the Bills to be the best, I think they need another top-flight/legitimate #1 type WR to pair with Diggs. Sanders is on a 1-year deal, let's see if Gabe Davis can take #2 role this year.

There were plenty of people clamoring for him. -

There were plenty of people talking about Metcalf. The pictures of him looking like the Hulk before the Combine made the rounds, and then the 4.33 (1.49s at 10 yard) caught attention, with a 40.5" vertical, 11'2" broad, 27 reps on the bench. There were concerns about his neck and his agility scores. Of course Metcalf was worth taking over Cody Ford, who immediately wasn't thought of as a pure NFL OT. -
Cardinals still showing the “Hail Murray”
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because we aren't pro athletes. Us getting older doesn't effect our company. If Arizona wants to celebrate the play forever, that's great, Hopkins shelf life as an elite WR is ticking, so go on ahead and keep memorializing it. -

It was a great play that ultimately means nothing now. Hopkins is another year older. -
Rodgers Disgruntled with Packers
Straight Hucklebuck replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is Aaron a whiner? Yes. Is Aaron smug? Yes. With that said... Aaron got there in 2005. In the first 3-Rounds since he got there, the Packers have drafted: A total of (8) WRs. (0) in the first (5) in the 3rd - Murphy (2005), Jennings (2006), Jones (2007), Montgomery (2015), Rodgers (2021) (3) in the 2nd - Nelson (2008), Cobb (2011), Adams (2014) It's not like the Packers have gone all out to improve skill positions. 12 years the Packers have used their top pick on defense, and they're still a pedestrian defense. -
What was your worst take ever?
Straight Hucklebuck replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One for sure is I stuck with CJ Spiller too long. He peaked and got old quickly. Jarius Byrd is another, I thought he had more football in him and his career just ended. Allen is another. Low production in college, seemed like a guy that would always be 200 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int and 1 running TD a game. I thought Beane and McDermott saw Cam Newton and wanted to recreate Carolina. -
Brandon Beane interviews 5/4 and 5/5
Straight Hucklebuck replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Listened to the interview. I like Beane, he gives honest answers and is logical in his approach. There is no used car salesman feel like there was with Nix. He just speaks in simple terms about his thought process. -
53 Man Roster: Way Too Early
Straight Hucklebuck replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m not so much picking on him specifically, as I am saying that I don’t think the Bills need these end of the roster guys for the locker room, or because they offer position versatility. I mention Tommy Sweeney because that’s a position the Bills haven’t invested much in, and so the guys we do have need to produce. It can’t be another red-shirt year for him. Like Jason Croom finally being shown the door, can you play or not? Otherwise we can’t carry you on the roster anymore. For sure I’m keep Harrison Phillips over a guy like Tawain Jones. -

Straight Hucklebuck replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills got it right by finally jettisoning Lee Smith. I hope these end of the roster guys like Tawain Jones, Jake Fromm, Reggie Gilliam, Tommy Sweeney head out the door this season. I don’t need guys like Joe Webb, Brad Smith, Joe Klopfenstein, Pat DiMarco anymore. -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment

I just think Rousseau profiles as a redundant player to Epenesa. -
53 Man Roster: Way Too Early
Straight Hucklebuck replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. Taking up a roster spot for nothing. Do you really have to keep (4) Tight Ends? Why would you keep Fromm? Phillips should make the DLine rotation. is Tawain Jones time almost up? -
How did Jaret Patterson go undrafted??
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
28 inch arms, 5’7” and runs high 4.5s. It can happen, Maurice Jones-Drew was a short running back, but was a tank. -
1. Chiefs 2. Browns 3. Bills
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Browns had a great offseason. Secondary was their clear weakness last season. Now, they will Delpit back from injury, Greedy Williams back from injury, Newsome comes in, and Denzel Ward at Cornerback. They kept Harrison as well, and Johnson and Hill. Linebacker was the other soft spot, and they signed Anthony Walker and drafted JOK. They are young and deep at almost every position. -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I think it stands to reason next year there will be more effort on Center and Tight End, also speed WR and mostly likely the Bills will be looking for another RB. -
So, what's the plan at RB?
Straight Hucklebuck replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doesn't it seem like it's just like 2018 and 2019? Singletary/Moss in the lead role, with a rotational veteran behind them. Does Breida dress on Sunday or does he get the TJ Yeldon treatment? -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For instance, take Rousseau off the board, and put Elijah Moore in, take out Spencer Brown and put in Molden/Melifonwu, according to the media, that would have been a more balanced Draft where Moore possibly cracks the WR group early on, you find Corner #2 competition, but still end up with a rotational DE and a 6'8" developmental OT. Now there is a log jam at DE and OT. It's the idea that the Bills were close to the Super Bowl, and they needed to make moves to get over the hump. And rotational DEs and backup OTs don't move the needle. -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was a meat and potatoes draft and our local media was really pushing the add more speed angle. Constant talk about Etienne and fast WRs because the Kansas City game. So then the Draft comes and its Defensive End, Defense End, Offensive Tackle, Offensive Tackle and last year it was Epenesa and the year before that it was Oliver, the perception can be we didn’t do anything to help Allen. Thats what WGR is saying largely today. Teams in the division got better, and the Bills stayed the same. Rousseau and Bashman are spot contributors and the OTs we took don’t play unless Williams/Dawkins get hurt. -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the lethargic tone of some posts on here is the Bills have built a roster that is solid and well coached, but outside of Allen abs Diggs there is not as much top flight talent on this team. -
2021 NFL Draft Day 3 Talk Official Thread
Straight Hucklebuck replied to The Jokeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When Schwartz went in Round 3 before the Bills, they looked at WR and didn’t think any of them could crack the lineup this year. And this was a weak Tight End draft on top of that. Same with these running backs, when the Memphis RB went, now you’d just be getting Singletary and Moss again.
