  1. He didn't look like an impact player anyways, didn't hear any reports of him popping in camp. He wasn't going to be used as the workhorse to replace Robinson.
  2. It's the work that will have Meyer underachieve. NFL Coaches sleep at the Facility. It's 16-18 hour days. Meyer doesn't come off as a grinder in that respect. He's smart, proven to be a ruthless recruiter, but he's quit everywhere he's been for mental fatigue. I don't see how 10-12 years older, that he can put in those endless days at the office. And, the Jags brass was high on Meyer right from the beginning, so they didn't do a true Coaching search.
  3. Agree on the their offensive line, and they were without two starters last night. They were a run-heavy team last year to protect a lower tier starting QB, and this preseason they are calling the same conservative plays. Every running play is a slow developing 1-yard loss seemingly. You can hand to Robinson all day (and score 10 points if you'd like). He'll give you 80 yards on 20 carries. Without Chark, they have no explosive WRs. Shennault is physical, but he doesn't separate much. They have no Tight Ends. And Etienne, not a shock that he is already hurt. He declined his Senior year, looked out of shape against Ohio State. Lawrence has the arm strength and mobility, and hit a few nice passes last night. On the negative, he holds onto the ball, taken sacks, thrown late into coverage, other threw the deep ball, and generally has to deal with wide receivers who can't separate. Where have Bills seen a Clemson running back, drafted in the first round, by a team that wanted a "waterbug", but then wasn't used as a running back and instead floundered as a dump off option until the starter got injured in Year 2? Also, like Spiller, he racked up alot of carries at Clemson, trended down in his Senior year, and is closer to a 4.40 guy than a true 4.30 guy.
  4. I don’t have faith in Buffalo/New York politicians to get real money like the Pegulas are asking. Mark Polacartz acts like he is King of Erie County and will not get out of the way if it comes to mandatory taxes. Also, look at the City of Buffalo and the development of the water front. Squabbling, delays, fighting about putting museum on the property, until finally the developers just left the project. Does local government, and NYS at large have the ability to deliver? The NFL going back to Goodell and Ralph meeting up years ago have not changed their position: get a new stadium or else. They pulled the same thing in Minnesota and San Diego.
  5. He had 5 elite seasons. Not saying Thurman isn’t worthy, but after his first 6-seasons the next three just-over 1,000 yards seasons were at 3.8 - 3.9 ypc clip. I agree, Gore is definitely become a compiler after his prime ended, same with Peterson, although the peak o higher.
  6. I won't be going to an NFL game anytime soon. Saw this all the time at the Ralph and have no interest in it.
  7. This is going to be idiotic this year watching 15-yarders handed out like candy.
  8. The constant roughing the passers are going to be mind numbing this season.
  9. Because the media’s mantra for 20 years was Belichick is a genius, the “Patriot Way” was the best system in the league, the Patriots simply drafted better than other teams, traded and cut guys at exactly the right time. They can’t move off of that and suddenly say McDermott has caught him.
  10. Andre Reed was a compiler. I’d argue Thurman Thomas was too. A couple of highlight seasons, but in general he was a compiler on rushing and got in on scrimmage yards.
  11. I think this is a good time stamp, I agree that was a time where the Bills just kicked the teeth in of the media darlings, where Allen just stood there and rifled that pass down the middle. I think finally looking OUTSIDE the organization for a GM was huge. Flushing years of Marv, Russ Brandon, Nix and clueless Whaley and ending the “Promote from Within” cheapo culture the Bills had embodied forever.
  12. We need more speed in order to do that. Diggs is the fastest WR we have. Also, given the stature of Wide Receivers, nobody is winning jump balls either. Our Wide Receivers are good short-intermediate route runners. Not burners, or big play threats outside of Gabe Davis potentially.
  13. I don't worry about it at all. Logan Thomas is already 29 years old. He is a backup level Tight End. So, he makes no difference to this team.
  14. The 2010 offseason that Nix orchestrated was a complete failure and an embarrassment. Extended Chris Kelsey as the model of a Bills player. Kept both of Jauron’s failed QBs, ultimately leading to Trent Edwards starting again in 2010 (and running out of bounds on 4th down in Green Bay). Led the switch to a 3-4 defense and drafted failures like Troup, Carrington, Batten, Moats. In addition to complete busts Marcus Easley, Ed Wang. Drafted CJ Spiller with the 9th overall pick, and then we saw the coaching staff that wanted their “water bug” get a total of 74 total carries all season. Traded Marshawn Lynch for a 3rd and 5th Round pick and watched that blow up in our faces immediately. Reached back to Chan Gailey, who was out of football when the Bills came calling, and he hired George Edward’s who took the team promptly to the Bottom 5 in defense with Ryan Denney playing OLB. Famously said he’d be sleeping when Free Agency opened at 12 am.
  15. While Nix was one of the worst GMs I’ve ever seen, Whaley’s Rex Ryan Press Conference and humans shouldn’t play football quote made him look incompetent. Whaley has no one to blame for passing on Khalil Mack out of Buffalo for Sammy Watkins. Seems to me on that one he backed himself into a corner to get a WR1 for EJ.
  16. Year One. That's the qualifier. Still, looking at the names on that list, not many of them turned into DE #1's. Here is the original Tweet:
  17. I just think that some NFL evaluators are telling you there isn't much of a difference ultimately between Rousseau and Epenesa in terms of talent. They seem to be pointing out that they tend to win on hustle plays and pass rush against weaker players, neither one has proven variety of moves or snap reaction or speed. Neither profiles as a #1 Pass Rusher in the NFL, as both seem to be 3-8 sack kind of guys. Which again, Sal Capaccio demonstrated, that this is most likely what you're going to get when you take DEs beyond pick 25.
  18. In part, I think they see how Epenesa came along slowly last season and apply the same logic to Rousseau. Sal Capaccio said it over and over that 4-3 DEs picked between 25 and 64 in the past 10 drafts only had 4 guys who cracked 10-sacks, out of 34 players. So some of the analysis is correct, he probably doesn’t have elite skill and he probably does win on hustle. He wouldn’t have been available if he did. Like Lawson, Epenesa he probably is a 3-8 sack kind of guy.
  19. Maurice Jones-Drew type build. 5’7” 210+ pounds.
  20. I think the team being able to go father than last year hinges on Josh Allen’s improvement as a passer. It’s all the same players back. Small helps may be Gabe Davis taking more reps, getting Star L back into the rotation, AJ Epenesa second year, and Sanders staying healthy verses John Brown last year. Another year of complete continuity.
