AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs

Milano does not have an injury designation - he’s playing. Bernard has no injury designation - he’s playing. Taron Johnson has no injury designation - he’s playing. -
Belichick believes Kelce is the Chiefs offense
Straight Hucklebuck replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
And you listen to him and it’s everything that common fans say - every play identity where Kelce is - every play have a plan on who is going to cover Kelce for the duration of the play. Get into him at the line and be waiting for him if he chips or delay releases. Smart tactic by Belichick to have a player mimic Kelce running around to get open for extended periods of time to train his players that you can never assume the play is over. -
Raiders hire Pete Carroll as HC

Yeah Brady can take the Ben Johnson route, let your stock rise another year and really take your pick of better jobs. The only redeeming quality for the Saints job is that the division is winnable. -
I don’t want the Bills FO to stop looking for playmakers at WR. Understand that you have a once in 30-years player in Allen and stock the shelves for Joe Brady to morph this offense. It also insulates the offense for the day Brady leaves to be a Head Coach. We saw what this offense looked like when Shakir missed a game, you need more margin than that.

How aggressive do you want McDermott to be on Sunday?
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t really think about McDermott’s aggressiveness. -
Yeah - like if there was a real plan for him to be aggressive and do the one thing he's good at - rush 85.7 PFF grade - then yeah I'd be for it.
-
If they play Bishop near the LOS and have him cover flats and crash run plays then maybe you can mask him. But no way do the Chiefs see a 45.7 coverage grade with him always motioning to other players at the snap and not go after him.

Yeah I kind of would like it if the Bills could run the ball down the Chiefs throats. I don't need to see inefficient chucking to a blanketed Keon Coleman. Shakir of course will be reliable, and the crosser to Hollins has hit at times this year. -

I can't imagine him not giving it a go, but none of McDermott's statements there were promising. Usually its "he's making progress" or "optimistic" - but still up in the air? -
Yeah McDermott is talking up Cole as you'd expect - but if they have him playing 20-yards deep like he has been it tells me that his only responsibility is to keep plays in front of him, in which case its like playing with 10.5 guys. We'll see on alignment how much they really trust him to make actual plays, not just mop up tackles after first downs have been completed.
-
Well he did get torched for a TD against Tyrod and the Jets by Ty Conklin but if we want to just look the other way on that because it was late and who cares then fine. He was freaking invisible against the Ravens.

Yeah because they can hide him down in the box and not have him play in space deep - because he gets lost and gets cooked. -

Milano - "We'll see how (he) continues to trend towards game time" - "kind of like you'd expect sore there, dealing with it, still dealing with it, doing more today to test it out" ... "we'll see how it goes, kind of one of those things that's up in the air" Geez man, if he doesn't play. -
Can you give examples of how his play has improved? He came in Sunday for Rapp, did he do anything good in 2-1/2 quarters?

Last week we never got word Saturday that Davis cleared protocol, we just saw the practice squad elevations at 4:00 PM and saw no Frank Gore Jr and assumed he was clear. With Benford I don’t see a practice squad elevation because they’ll just have Elam active. -

Yeah I mean I expect him to stay down after a play at least once in this game. He always is. -

It's definitely not a blessing. His speed as not been an asset all year. -

Yeah this is all around concerning. Our health once again has fallen apart at critical times. Cole Bishop. The last time we saw Elam - he has the speed to run with WRs, the problem is he's like Bishop, they're telling him to stay ahead of the WR, so he allows room underneath and gives up catches. -

Yeah that's awful. So that Day to Day was just coach speak, wonder if he couched that with "he's progressing". -

Such a Schopp/WGR question. Can't really analyze anything so we talk prop bets, betting lines, and fringe items like punts, 4th-downs, penalties and 2-point conversions. -

UNINSPIRING They'll undoubtedly add running backs to the roster and try to run the ball. -

Banged up Bills was initially "positive" on Rapp's injury saying if it was a labrum tear that he could play through it. McDermott will get his first crack at declaring anyone out here within the hour on the Extra Point Show. You hope to hear that nobody is ruled out yet. The formal press conference will be sometime around noon. I can't see Milano not going. Benford is the big one, all you can hope is he can get back to baseline and clear. He was running up and down the field yesterday, as the reporters said - he looked normal. -

We've all seen what Oliver can do when he plays possessed. He dominated in Detroit against a veteran Center. Rousseau is the best we have, plays the most snaps, is the best combination of pass/run DE. -

Benford has two more days to clear concussion protocol. He has to be late Stage 3 or 4 you'd think by the video. -
I wonder what the National appetite is for 18-games and a gauge on this kickoff. I have no desire to watch more regular season, adding more Playoff teams. Also, I really can't get behind another rule modification that allows teams to watch a ball sail through the end zone and get the ball further up the field than the 30-yard line. It's already to the point where one completion puts you at midfield.
