  1. For me - if I was the GM of the Rams, I would have been working with Miami and Houston to try and move Tua to LA, Goff to Houston, and Watson to Miami. I think between Miami and LA - Houston could have gotten 3 or 4 first round picks and Tua is a better fit to McVay’s offense and you get huge Cap savings in LA to help reload. Miami gets Watson and retains their own first round picks, but gives up the Houston picks. Tua then goes to the Rams for Goff and another 1st going back for salary dump and maybe the Rams save a 1st or have to sweeten the deal. I think that would have helped all 3 teams long term and would have been a much better use of resources than the Stafford deal.
  2. This is exactly what I was saying. The Lions were built for attacking the deep outsides with their WRs and the intermediate middle with the TE and that was Staffords strengths. That also leads to longer developing plays and more sacks. It also tends to hinder the outside zone rushing attacks with quick passes off from that. The Rams have a quick passing attack - lots of run/pass options with roll outs and either getting the ball to the TE or the RB to one side or hitting a crossing receiver going against the flow around 8-12 yards down field. I will be very interested to see will McVay adjust his offense to try and fit what Stafford has traditionally done best. I do not think they have the players for that as Detroit has had exceptional WRs with speed and size to attack the outside thirds of the field 15-20 yards downfield and Kupp and Woods are more crossing route type receivers. Can Stafford adjust and does he have enough mobility to consistently make run/pass option reads and quickly diagnose and make reads and throws as well as Goff did in the short areas and behind the LOS? How good is the OLine really for the Rams? They scheme up protections because of play action, roll-outs, and quick read passes. If Stafford is more of a traditional QB dropping back and holding on to the ball - ala his Detroit days - will the OL hold up or will teams knowing better where he stand be able to pressure him more than they did Goff. The final piece that I think will be very interesting is where you really project these guys stats to be. Unless Detroit revamps their offense (and I suspect they will) that is a terrible fit for Goff, but I think you will see Detroit become more of a running - short passing team. Where does Stafford go? The Rams throw even more than Detroit, but lots of short passes for short gains. in one less game Goff completed 30 more passes on 20 more attempts, but had less yards. Does Staffords aggressive throws help open things up or does his decreased completion percentage have an impact. Does the Rams rushing attack around the end zone limit his TD throws and he is closer to Goff’s 20. I think they will get a more consistent QB game over game and I think Stafford is marginally better. I think McVay needs to adjust to Stafford and the team needs to adjust and I do not think they have the cap room or the ability to get new players - so it is going to have to meld. The biggest issue to me is the Rams did not get a ton of cap room in this deal - especially with some of Stafford’s bonuses due shortly and losing draft picks for essentially the next 3 years just hurts their ability to find cheap replacement level players. I don’t think Stafford makes them the best team in their division, let alone the NFC, but they are top 3-4. They got a slight improvement at a cost of 2 #1’s and a 3, but more than the cost they got older and less athletic. Tampa made that work - but brought in a boat load of new/former weapons to help Brady because of their cap space. The Rams have to figure it out with the players they got or maybe even with less players due to the cap.
  3. McVay is bright, but they have spent years building the offense to fit the strength of Goff. The current WR set with Kupp and Woods are not necessarily fits for the strength Stafford. The offense/line/WRs/TEs all have years in that system. I expect they are going try to fit Stafford in as much as possible into the current system. It might work - I don’t expect they will be worse, but I don’t think they are significantly better with Stafford and based upon the salaries- it doesn’t look like a big savings for the Rams.
  4. What we have seen from the offense is he likes PA roll out and mobility with quick decisions. The offense at its best had a high throughput RB and Goff was hitting quick throws to RB/TEs outside and WRs on crossing routes. Lots of misdirection and movement. Stafford with his various injuries is no longer that mobile QB or a guy that can sprint out for wide handoffs. He is more of a drop back - pocket passer that hits WRs outside the numbers and TEs on the seams. The Rams offense maintained its strength attacking the edge and then bringing WRs across the field in the opposite direction of the motion into cleared out areas. I think Stafford forces it back to a more conventional offense with drop backs and straight hand offs attacking the middle of the field. Basically to me - Stafford brings more experience and a better arm, but you lose McVays creativity to scheme people open with motion and roll-outs.
  5. Their first this year is already in Jacksonville for the DB trade last year.
  6. Yes, but you are talking about a QB that has had back injuries and has underperformed for years and does not really fit the McVay style of offense.
  7. I totally agree and further more - I think Stafford is a terrible fit for that offense. He is not a dink/dunk style passer or a roll out guy. He is a deep drop and pocket thrower and that means big changes to how they move forward. I think Stafford has the better arm, but he has not shown himself to be the better QB or to elevate those around him - even when surrounded by some of the top WRs in the game. Big risk for LA and potentially resets their window to an even smaller window before they fall apart.
  8. Now with their picks and the Rams picks - do the Lions have enough ammo to go after Watson? I am sure Watson would block that trade, but it gives Houston an NFC team that could trade potentially #7 this year and several future #1 picks and throw in Goff if they want the QB to get a franchise QB. I can’t see it, but if provides Ammo they did not have before.
  9. Have you watched the Pro-Bowl in the last 15 years - or a preseason game - heck even a week 17 game when everything is locked up. Teams and players go onto the field and give a fraction of their effort at various times now in meaningless games. The Pro-Bowl players are notorious for only giving a small fraction of their effort. Even if you give an extra draft pick - that is a disincentive for the players - that is another high pick to potentially replace a current player that is risking injury in a totally meaningless game. I could see the NFL try something right up until a player blows out a knee and therefore misses the start of the next year in a 3rd place game and that leads to these players losing out on contracts and the NFLPA going WTF are you doing? It is part of the reason the Pro-Bowl is dying off - we do not need another meaningless games. If you want something to fill this week - get rid of the week off and play the Super Bowl - other than that - let it go. I would rather see more college players practicing and getting ready for the draft than a 3rd place NFL game.
  10. Nope - not something I would be a fan of. Seems like a waste and another chance to get injured. If you had a way to make it so the winner of the loser bracket got another shot at the SuperBowl title - then maybe, but for third place - you are better off losing for the draft pick.
  11. I think they look for a cheap back-up at QB as they already have Fromm and Webb. If they can find someone better cheap - ok, but my guess is they have 3 guys they are comfortable with if needed. RB they have 4 guys - I don’t know what their thoughts on Wade really are, but my guess is the top 3 set them up and if they can find another cheap vet or a draft pick they will be set. WR - I think Roberts is gone and they would like McKittrick (LOL) back, but I think like Milano - they will let him look at FA and see what offers he gets. That is the position they will look to replace either via the draft or FA - speed WR with return ability and can run the jet sweeps. My guess is it is McKittrick back and we are set. TE - I know everyone wants better production, but I really think unless someone falls in the draft and can’t be passed up - your TE room is set with the 5 guys they have - assuming Sweeney clears health wise - which I would expect. OL is a mess and I expect that to get the most attention. I think they will work hard to re-sign Williams and Mongo to have some continuity, but I expect them to lose depth and need to find depth from the draft or cheap FA. This is where we need to figure out how to proceed and make sure we protect our QB. DE - I think Murphy is gone - that leaves you 6 guys - maybe some restructuring of contracts, but I expect help comes from the draft. DT - I think one or 2 may be cut or restructured to free up money - I think they have some options, but I don’t expect wholesale changes - it will be Oliver/Phillips and hopefully some depth. LB - I think they want Milano back, but will let him test FA - I think they will be looking for help here - draft picks/veteran FA something to help cover their weakness. Maybe a cut of a guy like Klein or a restructured contract to help afford others. CB and Safeties- I think the contracts say it all - UFA’s are gone and they draft for depth. The numbers are ok in each spot. Special Teams - you try to keep them all by re-signing your RFA and they should be set. I think the team we saw in 2020 will be mostly identical to the 2021 team with minor tweaks along the way. I do not see many big changes coming as the Salary Cap will prevent that, but I think they will work hard to keep a good group together.
  12. 🤦‍♂️ Good for you.
  13. Yep - he did that on a team with one of the top 2 or 3 best run blocking O-Lines and the very best run game coordinator in the NFL - by far. Switch him and Moss and who has the better season - switch him and Singletary and who has the better season. My guess is Moss and Singletary on Baltimore average much closer to 6 YPC than Dobbins does in Buffalo. Dobbins also came out a lot on 3rd down as it looked like he struggled on pass pro and was Singletary esq on receiving. In games against teams like Indy, Tenn, NE and even the Browns and Philadelphia - Dobbins was not even pedestrian as a RB. Yes he dominated against teams like the Bengals, but he was not anything special in most games and for many games Gus Edwards (a classic JAG) was just as good or better. My belief is if we had drafted Dobbins and not Epenesa - we would be sitting here with the same RB questions and needing 2 young DEs.
  14. Really? Dobbins on the best running team in the NFL did not outperform the 2 guys we had. He also looked really uncomfortable trying to catch swing passes this year. I think we would have been maybe a slight upgrade on Singletary on this team and really would have been a huge disappointment. Helaire looked better catching passes, but he also wasn’t a bell cow back. He is part of a group much like in Buffalo and may not be the best back on that team for their style of offense.
  15. I agree and I think the fact the NFL got in all the games and even had some fans will help more than their worst case scenario. I also would not be shocked if they come to an agreement to push up slightly this year and artificially lower next years money trying to balance it out - as long as each ownership group has enough solvent cash to move forward.
  16. It doesn’t, but 17 years with Andy Reid and then you branch out with added responsibilities on another couple of playoff teams - maybe that helps out. Plus being a minority coach might help fulfill what Watson is looking for, but fills it with a guy that is not just standing next to Reid on the sidelines at the moment. I think it is another in a bad line of hires, but it is definitely outside the normal box and checks off several of the Watson complaints.
  17. Based upon the NFL/NFLPA agreement - they set 175 million as a floor with the ability to offset additional losses in the next couple of years. The NFL and NFLPA can agree on a higher value, but they also have to agree to offsets to make up the difference - it will need to be negotiated. The players want the higher salary cap sooner, but the NFL has to balance how much they are losing to ensure that every team can maintain and be competitive. It will be interesting to see where they land and how much below 175 million the cap would have been and how much offset the teams need to cover now before getting the extra profit later. Especially for teams like the Rams and Raiders that built new stadiums, but got a year with no fans - just added costs.
  18. Nope - absolutely the wrong take 100%. Just like Tre, Mahomes, and scores of others you re-sign him now along with activating his 5th year option. You give him big money up front, but it gets spread out over more years - therefore keeping his 4th year and 5th year option deals at a lower salary - just like Tre and Mahomes. This pushes his bigger salary out to 2023 after the new TV contract is signed and when the salary cap explodes and therefore you have the added money. The timing is perfect to do it now - lock in the money - and defer the big cost until after the new TV deal is complete - win/win.
  19. Do the Bills have a 30 million QB and a 20 million WR? The answer is no and this thread is pure crap 💩. You are creating something to be upset about that is not even going to happen - pure idiocy. These are the types of threads where the starter should just get banned for pure trolling because although he has already been shown to be wrong - he keeps arguing for nothing. Just give it up and crawl back under your 💩. 👋👋 - so long.
  20. You do realize that much like White (and Mahomes) they will extend Allen meaning his 4th year (next year) and his 5th year deals will be significantly under 30 million a season. Any Allen contract is not going to be a big hit until 2023. It will allow him to get more upfront, but spread that hit out of 10+ years. Relax and look at the Mahomes template. 🤦‍♂️
  21. So go join their board and maybe explain to them your fascination with RBs. Maybe with their QB they will be a run first team for you to enjoy. 👋👋👋
  22. Why do you think Stills would sign for half the money? He was paid very similar to Brown for last year by Houston. I would assume he is looking for 7+ million as a FA with speed on the outside. He could end up a replacement, but I don’t think you end up saving much between him and Brown and I think he is a lesser player than Brown overall.
  23. So your plan is to create 4 new openings on DLine (plus Murphy as a UFA), a spot at center, and number 2 WR to create ~40 million in space, but 6 new positions at minimum that need to be filled. How much are you spending on the new guys? @ngbills Unless you are going bare bones minimum salary on DLine (which would be worse players than you are cutting) - you are just spinning your tires at that position. Why cut unless you have a better alternative in place. Let’s look at with Morse - save 5 million, but lose your starting Center - what are you replacing him with. Feliciano? FA? Draft Pick? Are you getting better or did you create a hole without being able to fill it? Chances are very good that you either are spending more than you saved or you are replacing him with a back-up level Center hurting the line. Brown - save 8 million - what is your replacement @ngbills? We saw speed kills are you going to try and replace Brown with Davis (a decrease in speed)? Are you signing some FA and at what cost? Most number 2 WRs with speed are going to cost you 8+ a season or are you willing to risk a step back On offense. While I agree the salary cap is going to be tough this off season - I just do not see the Bills cutting a bunch of players that will need to be replaced with similar priced players as it does nothing to help the team. I think they will work to re-sign their own players and will see what is available to bring in, but I imagine the majority of the 2021 Bills will be off the 2020 season. I do not see them cutting a majority of players and actually expect they will try to rework a few of those contracts.
  24. He had one 20 yard run - other than that he was worse than either of our RBs all day. This on a team with a better run blocking OL. Nothing really suggests he is anything more than a JAG - just like our guys. So no - I would not take him to be on this team - rather have our guys at a lesser price if you are just getting a JAG RB.
  25. Really - I am supposed to want Fournette because why - on a good rushing team he hit 55 yards. No I still do not want Fournette. He just is not anything special.
