  1. I think @Shaw66 pointed this out, but it appears to me the primary request of this coaching staff for Edmunds is deep middle drops. They play him deeper off the ball and his first steps mostly seem to be side or back. It does not appear that they are asking him to attack the line of scrimmage the majority of the time or shoot gaps immediately. They also have him covering the middle of the field and allowing the safeties to split out into a 2 deep shell. That forces him into a lot coverage choices and windows that a good QB can utilize. Based upon the expectations and roles of the 2 LBs - I would fully expect that Milano would be more impactful. He is their wildcard. He has some coverage responsibilities, but he is the flow and attack LB and therefore expected to turn people back to the middle and attack downhill. Edmunds role appears to be keep things in front and make tackles and prevent deep middle passing. He does not play a traditional downhill attacking MLB. I agree sometimes his instincts get tricked - he attacks a hole and the RB takes a different hole. He also gets blocked by lineman too easily. In the end - I would love to see them make some changes and split Edmunds and Milano out and have a true Safety sitting in the middle, but then you really need to control the run with the DLine.
  2. So then we shouldn’t have to worry about KC right - I mean 9 points, mid 200 yards passing, 2 Ints, 11 penalties, and 3 sacks given up in THE most important game. I mean their offense must totally suck going forward. Ridiculous!
  3. Agreed - the only thing I will say is if the Bills feel they can get an extension done on Edmunds prior to the season and it will help mitigate the cap hit next year - I expect them to push that through. I think the mid 12 cap hit next year is higher than they would like and if they can get it down to 9-10 million with 3 year extension to free up more money in next years tight cap.
  4. Not really worried about it. They have enough guys right now to go ahead and play and be just fine. They have weeks and months still and Vet guys to sign if they want more competition. They have young kids, UDFAs, and others to mix in. Most of all - I am not worrying about other teams DBs because they need more DBs to cover our much more talented WRs. There are very few AFC teams that can roll 4-6 WRs to match what we are putting out and none in the East. I would say relax and enjoy the ride.
  5. We will see, but with the DEs they drafted - I am wondering if they are going to go smaller, quicker, and attack gaps by formation and worry less about a big 1T tackle. If you fill the gaps and tackle RBs on your way to the QB and you do it right from the snap - it can clog inside lanes and force more outside runs where athletic LBs and Safeties can make tackles. I think Beane was considering larger, quicker DEs with inside ability to be a larger priority.
  6. As does Basham and Obada. You have some real flexibility on DEs right now.
  7. I really think they saw the way teams slide DEs inside to force quicker pressure. I am expecting this means guys like Butler and especially Star may be in trouble as I could see them going with extra DEs and 3 techniques for DLine and maybe 1 space eater. Clog the middle by attacking gaps with speed and size. Let the LBs roam outside and use a 3rd Safety as run support/coverage. Run something similar to what was done to us to try and stop teams.
  8. Biggest issue is he struggles with a shot gun snap - not sure you want that in a center for the Bills. They run shotgun so much.
  9. Like the player - not sure I totally understand back to back Edge. I think they are going to be doing some different fronts to try and get pressure - 3-4 DEs lining up all over the field.
  10. This exactly - plus what is the value - Leatherwood seems more destined to be a guard, but there were other OLine still available at that spot that would have been better fits at higher value positions like RT. The difference between Leatherwood at guard and the next guard taken will be huge. It is part of the reason the Jets trade was questionable - gave up 2 3rds for a guard, but at least it was a consensus top pick guy. The Jets pick - I believe led to the Leatherwood pick by LV. I think LV were sitting there thinking they had AVT all lined up and it was their need and value lining up and then the Jets move up and take him and suddenly in the scramble they take the next guy on their board and reach for it. Somehow - Mayock and Gruden just seem disorganized or uninformed and are very set in their ways and when they decide about a position - they go for it - even if it is a stretch.
  11. I will say you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take and each team took a shot. I think Jones has the least shot to bust, but also the least upside of the 2. I think he reads and anticipates well, but he also was on basically an All Star team and he is going to a mediocre team especially in terms of offensive talent. Wilson has more upside, but higher bust potential. I think Kiper was 100% correct with Wilson coming out was not even as good as Darnold coming out and the Jets should of stayed with Darnold. I think the transition to NYC will be interesting of a Mormon Boy from Utah. He will not be the party guy, but I am not sure he will “fit in” with the rest of the teammates like he did at BYU. In the end - I picked both “bust” although more accurately - I think both play, but neither excels and neither becomes a star.
  12. First neither Con is super accurate as yes he was a consensus late first - early second guy and we drafted him late first - so right on value - not sure why that would be a con. His work ethic is well thought of - as an example - he picked up a ton of extra classes in high school to graduate early because he wanted to attend the U for spring practice before his freshman year because he was changing position. He worked super hard to graduate - just so he could get to the U and maximize his practice and learning - Manny Diaz talked about how much that meant. His work ethic was also evident incoming back from a fractured ankle his freshman year and then getting 15.5 sacks and 19.5 TFLs. I highlighted my biggest question - what in the world makes you think we could of traded back 10-15 picks and still got him? It sounds like from the guys talking about Baltimore - that was their pick and we took him - forcing them to take Oweh. If we moved back at all - it is very highly likely that he was gone before the end of Round 1. There was him and Oweh left of the 1st pass DEs and then Tryon starting the next wave and all 3 went with the last 3 picks.
  13. What I really noticed is when watching the predraft coverage- I was not sure who all the players in Cleveland where, but there was one guy that stood out. He was a head taller than the other guys and just looked like a man standing there. I didn’t know who he was and largely forgot until our pick - most of those guys came and went and then we pick and this big, tall guy with a huge smile is in the frame and I realized - wow we got the man and the boy is the new Jets QB (a guy that is no slouch at 6’3, but looked so small. He just seemed like a guy with so much growth potential, but already has the beginnings of a mans body.
  14. I can totally see that Rousseau is a Campbell match - a great fit for them to learn and has a bunch of flexibility. Oweh - he has elite straight line speed, but that lead to almost no actual production in sacks and really is not a great scheme fit for either team. I love his speed, but running outside the tackle and allowing the QB to step up is going to be killer in that division.
  15. On the 3 cone - it was stated he knocked over cones on his first 2 goes. The recorded score was his 3rd attempt in short succession and he was a bit winded after the first 2 bursts and he was a bit cautious trying to avoid the cones on the last go. Sounded like it really impacted the timing.
  16. Like what exactly. On most boards he was expected right in this area. He is at a position of need for depth. He was one of the DEs with good scheme for what Buffalo wants. He was also at a position with a huge drop off in talent - so good scheme and body fit, at a premium position, at the right time, and the pick created a run of the lesser guys right after - meaning we most likely lose out with a trade down. All told I am happy with getting the pick - so much better than what was being mocked our way.
  17. The 3 cone is interesting because they said he knocked down a cone twice - so he had to run it 3 times in total (winded) and was being extra careful - which slows you down. A bit disappointed it took 3 times, but at some point of course that is going to have an impact on your final time. We see it at the combine with guys that false start on the 40 multiple times - when it finally counts they are so cognizant of not false starting that they add .1 to .15 to their time compared to pro days. In his highlights - he showed good bend and lateral movements- so to me the 3 cone was more of a fluke and the dinging of a guy with those arms for Bench is just stupid.
  18. Exactly - and much like TB - this is a guy that can help keep Mahomes centered - the TB guys that created the issues were Vea and Suh - allowing the outside guys then to clean up. If we stick Oliver and Butler in the 2 “A” gaps and let them just shoot through and look for the QB - that should allow guys like Rousseau and Obada to use their length and arms to get some clean up sacks. I don’t know if he will work, but I like what he brings.
  19. With the speed that teams get rid of the ball - speed on the edge is so much less important. Pressure in the middle is more important than edge in most schemes and the newer thing is moving these guys inside. The Edge guys are QB contain guys that should be keeping him in the pocket and let pressure come from inside.
  20. Does the order change after tonight?
  21. Saw this during the intro - I asked who he was as he was so much taller and well built than the other guys. Good for him!
  22. I like the pick - had my heart set on JOK, but I can live with this. Noticing a pattern with DEs that can play inside - will we be seeing more MINT fronts with OBada, Rousseau, or Addison playing more inside with Oliver - trying to stuff the middle more - letting Milano really flow. Seems Obada and Rousseau are both tall 6’6 guys with long arms - very interesting with the smaller QBs in Miami and NE and even Wilson in NY. I think they have some thoughts about clogging the middle and blocking some passing lanes. Hopefully this forecasts some more aggressive defensive calls.
  23. Well before the draft they made the trade - not on draft night. If he missed that - he would of been dead. 😂
