Shaq Lawson on trade block (update - traded to Jets)
Rochesterfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with that, but Shaq still does not cover the loss of Carl Lawson. Carl is a pass rusher by nature and Shaq is not. Shaq can eat snaps, but he does not fill the role that the Jets need. It is not a bad move for them - it just is not a move that does anything. I honestly believe if they had waited for cuts - they could of picked up the same level of player for nothing. -
Shaq Lawson on trade block (update - traded to Jets)
Rochesterfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He does not cover the loss of Carl Lawson. Shaq was average in Buffalo with a great defensive coach. He was a failure in Miami with a head coach that had a top defense. Shaq found no opportunity to rush the passer - he is basically a contain DE - not something NYJ needs. In the end to me - Shaq is a below average DE that will play, but he isn’t a guy I would worry about. He is a guy I would attack. -
I think this is spot on. My guess is this offense is going to look different throughout the year, but I anticipate a lot of Diggs, Davis on the outside and Sanders, Beasley on the inside forcing teams to try and cover 4 quick route runners. Davis will be the #2 which is his perfect role on this team. He finds ways to get open downfield and just makes plays.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 3
Rochesterfan replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you nailed most of this - the only thing I think needs to be mentioned is that on the sack - you say both Dion and Williams were beaten, but Sal specifically mentioned on the post game - that play. The Bills went with a higher snap count and GB’s D-line moved. Morse snapped the ball early to try and catch him off sides and no one was ready giving both DEs a huge advantage. That decision is given to Morse to try and get a free play, but obviously the Refs did not give it to them, but I don’t think in the end that will reflect on Dion at all. Eric Woods also said in the pregame that any injury/illness that you lose the kind of weight Dion lost - the trainers will get back in 3-4 weeks - they want to add it slowly. He did not think the weight would hinder Dion much, but the stamina was going to be a huge issue - especially with Miami in week 2. -
Not really worried about this at all. Who released the speculation - it was not a normal insider - it was some more random guy. That suggests to me that 1 team wants this info out there and I doubt it is Miami - as they have to be getting ready to play with Tua for the year. Miami to me least wants info like this out in the news - they are trying to improve and have a fragile QB ego already - They only want this info at the moment the trade is complete. Anything earlier - like this - only weakens the teams trust in leadership and gives people in Miami time to organize against the move. The real benefit to this article is Houston (most likely source of the “leak”) - my guess is some teams - like Philly and maybe Carolina have reached out again with weak offers - something like their starter (Hurts or Darnold) and a 1st for Watson and they are trying to rebuild the momentum they had for multiple 1st round picks. The leak also gives the league a chance to step in - as I truly believe the league recognizes that Watson will not play in Houston and Houston is not trading him - therefore he is sitting out right now without being a league issue. The league has said they won’t suspend him yet, but if Watson is traded to a team that will play him - my guess is the uproar will cause the NFL to exempt him and I think the leak was hoping to get some info out. I think a lesser trade goes through - Philly would not surprise me - for a pick and a young QB and maybe another player and then Watson gets exempted before he plays - if the league even allows the trade - and then gets suspended and it is 2023-2024 before the guy is back if he ever gets back and doesn’t end up in jail like he seems to belong.

Tremaine "lost in the wash" Edmunds
Rochesterfan replied to Sharky7337's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will just say your second part is 100% unnecessary as the Bills have already picked up his option this summer. He is on the team this year and next barring a trade. We will see how the coaches react, but they seem to like what they get from him in this defense - even if fans don’t. -
If Josh got injured and you had to rush Mitch on the field with no prep time - can he handle the snap, is he prepared to be able to run a play, can he get the play call, can we get him out there without wasting a timeout. Does it guarantee a Super Bowl - Nope, but it once again shows this coaching staff understands game situations and wants to make sure the players and coaches are prepared. Then you can talk about it in film and determine- how do we get better, how would we handle it if it was third and long, how did the coaching staff react and what things can we put in place to get better. This may never be needed or maybe it is the one play that continues a drive in a must win game to get home field advantage. It is very smart coaching.

Will Philly try to use Hurts to get Watson? All part of their plan.

Shaq Lawson on trade block (update - traded to Jets)

More like Houston had a need when JJ left and a LB they didn’t want and switched late round picks. Miami had paid some signing bonus and he has an out after this year. Of course - the Texans still are a dumpster fire anyway. -
8/26 practice - last one open to media

I think he was sacked - LOL 😂 Just having some fun. -
This is somewhat true, but the fact that the NFLPA has come out and said they would support daily testing for all tells me it is not assurances that are preventing the update. I think they have an agreement in place for preseason and are running with it to find out just what cracks they have and will make adjustments in the last week after Preseason game 3. I believe they are trying to get the vaccination rate as close to 100% without forcing the issue and now we will see what kind of an agreement the NFL and NFLPA will come up with that will impact everyone. The worlds changing fast and my guess is like last year - the NFL in working with the NFLPA will respond slightly more slowly, but will tweak protocols as the years goes on. They were not against changing last year and I would assume they will change this year - it just does not happen as fast due to the negotiations required.

All of the Arians stuff is great - until a player decides he is going to follow NFL rules - not TB rules. The team does not have the ability to fine, suspend, or do anything to the player if they are following the NFL agreed to rules and if the team does - then the player will have an actual winnable lawsuit. It goes all the way to cutting or punishing the player in any way. Now maybe the entire team will go along with it, but if anyone at anytime decides not to - then the Arians rules crumble.

I thought based on the DC’s comments yesterday about getting some guys in and communicating on a field with a crowd - something they have barely done - this was going to be the plan - get guys out just to get into the routine - which was very different last year.
-
Not surprised at all. Sal mentioned the other day getting these guys into a game day routine. I would expect 1-2 series and get him out. Just enough to go through the entire process of getting up, getting to the game, going through the stretching and walk-through, and coming out with a crowd all amped up.

I think it really depends on whether or not the GM actually thought he had a shot at Aaron Rodgers for this year or next year. You might take a chance and skip a QB if you honestly believe that Rodgers is you future because then a QB drafted this year becomes a waste. Now passing on Allen or even Jackson was stupid and the fans should be ticked, but my guess is they would have gone Rosen and screwed even that up. -
I think it is worth noting just exactly how much of an analytics guy McD has become. Just yesterday they were talking to Frazier who said to the media with Klein and Milano being sent home - the coaching staff had already started to adjust the practice because of the fewer players. McD and the staff have a number of reps they want guys to hit and they look at things like activity level and even how far and how fast guys are running and adjust practice on the fly to ensure that guys are overused and are getting in the right amounts of activity, fluid breaks, down time, etc. I don’t think he will ease up practice because that is not what they do, but he will ensure they are not overusing these guys and if they feel they need a break - they will mix things up. We saw that with McKenzie and Davis Webb both playing DBs in practice last year. McD seems to have a good feel about how hard to work guys and when to back off. I will trust him.

Why - this doesn’t make any sense. More likely it means he is not playing this weekend and they are looking for guys to scout for the PS and can fill specific roles they are missing in this game. Like returner.

Bills claim WR Rico Gafford and DT Joey Ivie
Rochesterfan replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills sent Milano and Klein home as precautions, but the NFL determined that they were not close contacts when reviewing the data and therefore both are free to come back and neither are on the COVID list. Yes - these guys are just bodies most likely the same as the 2 guys yesterday - the Bills are just trying to balance the roster a bit so more starters can sit. With the expanded PS - if some of these guys come in with good attitudes and show a little something - they might stick as PS guys. I think a couple that were released yesterday may end up on the PS also. -

The Becton thing to me is scary because it sounds like he had the head to head collision and the Jets didn’t recognize it. He stayed in and then went to the sidelines himself and started Upchucking before someone noticed it and then trainers came over. With everything else they have done - to potentially totally miss a huge concussion to the point that he is throwing up - that training staff has some issues. I also think it is funny that they say they pulled him - that was not how it read as it was happening, but maybe the reporters were missing something. -
Isaiah McKenzie shoulder injury
Rochesterfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He did - just had no specifics. Said Poyer held up, but McKenzie ran into him, but it was like McKenzie hit a brick wall and he went down. Sal did not think Poyer did anything as he let up as much as he could - just something that happens. Sal said McKenzie laid there for several minutes and then the trainers took him off the field and He seemed to be in obvious pain in the shoulder region, but it sounded like Sal said he was moving it, but there was discomfort. Need to wait on the MRI - they got nothing in practice and Beane provided no real update other than he was injured. -

Not sure about that per Sal - he was a CB at Wyoming - so I hope Josh didn’t throw to many his way. -

Bills release 5 players 8/24
Rochesterfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Umm go back and look at the time line - the 4 players (not 5 like you stated originally) were identified and and placed on the COVID list 22 minutes ago. You stated they were on the COVID list hours ago and Beane stated the players were sent home by the Bills and the 4 players were later identified as close contacts by the league. It included a guy they did not send home in Butler and did not include 2 of your original 5 in Milano and Klein. As I stated once they were identified they can sign people to replace them and that was what they did. They could of brought back some players or they could sign new, but they had to cut guys because no one at the time you posted was moved to the COVID list. -
Bills release 5 players 8/24
Rochesterfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And after listening to Beane - we now know why this was done this way. The Bills sent home 5 players as a precaution. They were still waiting for the NFL to deem close contacts. The NFL deemed DAvis, Star, and Beasley, but also identified Butler. Milano and Klein were not considered close contacts and can return tomorrow. The date starts from their last contact so 5 days start yesterday for most and Sunday it sounds like for Butler - so all could clear prior to the game this weekend. So no they could not have used the five people on the COVID list to get down and they did not get the official close contact list until after the cut downs were required as it the NFL - not the team that decides contacts. Sounds like the Bills handled this as best they could with getting guys out of the area as soon as possible and addressing contacts to prevent issues. I give this team and FO 👍👍! -
