  1. Yep - and Edmunds with 2 pro bowls, Oliver, White with Probowls, Milano, Dawkins, Knox, Singletary, Davis, Brown, Johnson, Rousseau, Basham, Bass, Boettger, Brown, Dodson, Epenesa, Hamlin, Hodgins, Jackson, etc - all playing and giving minutes. They are not all home runs, but they hit on more players and develop more players than other teams. The make-up may not be what everyone hopes for, but year after year they hammer out multiple picks that make the team and stay and then those that go on still have success. Teller, Zay Jones, Phillips, etc - get moved and then signed by other teams. They are not perfect, but they find people at every level.
  2. This is sarcasm right because if not it is ignorant. ESPN just went through the last 10 years of drafting and lookin at career versus expected for each draft pick. Guess who is number 1 by a long ways over the last 5 years - since MCD took over. The Bills have been by far the best drafting team and it isn’t even close. They have infused more talent and got more production out of their picks than any other team. But by all means maybe you are right and the analytical data, the experts, the drafts gurus, and the majority of other are missing something that you somehow see. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
  3. This is a repeat of the 1st round pick lunacy. They are not wasting additional draft capital to draft a RB. If he falls to 57 maybe he is the pick - if not - he will be playing for a different team. It is about positional value and draft value - he just lands in the wrong places.
  4. It did not sound like Vrabel was happy about the trade. I am not sure this is on him. AJ Brown made it sound like he didn’t want to go - would of settled for around 22 million in Tennessee. It seems like a cluster that was because Tennessee did not want to exceed 20 million for a WR.
  5. Yeah - I mean it is not like the Bills were just ranked the best drafting team over the last 5 years by ESPN using career over expected. I mean Beane must be barely serviceable.
  6. I did not hear the 21 part - I heard they did not have 25, but I have not heard a firm number. I would agree I don’t think Walker or Pickett had 1sts. I am not sure that 15, 16, 17, or 18 all had first round grades either. I think maybe 1 of the guards and 1 of the WRs might - not sure that all 4 did. The talk was 16-20 first round grades for most “experts” and those varied a bit based upon needs/desires.
  7. We hit 100 - now the Bills need to draft a CB in round 1 pr the agreement. Good job - Brandon Beane.
  8. You mean the Taiwan Jones/ Danny Woodhead group?
  9. Beane said they never went higher than 20, but I am not sure there was going to be to much trading in that area anyway. Pick 15 - the Texans at 15 might have been a player, especially as they reached for a pick, but going up 10 spots is more than 4th and was unnecessary. Pick 16 - Washington- I don’t think Beane will deal with that FO after this off season. Picks 17, 18, 19, and 20 teams all got guys they seemed to be associated with and were top needs for the teams at the right time. I am not sure any of them really wanted to risk the move back. 21 - was NE and I would not expect them and the Bills to work together. 22 - GB did not seem to want to move 23 - got the prize - Baltimore risked the fall.
  10. Not if it meant missing out on Elam. 🤦‍♂️
  11. Especially since my guess is the hats are comped because the draftees wearing them make fans buy them. I think the extras come back and then are distributed to the teams give to other players that get drafted. They are not wasted.
  12. I believe the report came out the Hernia was healing fine, but he had multiple flags on potential knee issues that might effect longevity. I have to believe that pushed him down badly as I thought going into the draft process - he was one of the top 3-5 CBs and a super fit here in Buffalo. Something flagged for the guy that we just have not heard the full details on.
  13. The camera crews bring in the assortment of hats as part of the coverage. When they get the call - that is all part of the ceremony - he takes the call and the crew gets the hat ready and to the player to start filming. They do not always have every team - they get an assortment based upon where and who the NFL believes will be drafting the player. If they are wrong - they just edit that part out if needed, but they have boxes of swag stuff like that as part of the process.
  14. I believe Cockrell was a give-up by Rex. He showed a bit of promise, but was not a Rex guy and was shoved out the door. He had some good years in Pittsburgh and got a SB title in Tampa I believe. His wife is also an Olympian that competed recently if I remember correct. He ended up being a fine pick - just never in Buffalo.
  15. Get in the rest room with him - come on.
  16. This is just plain laughable. Beane said they had been looking to move up as high as 20 - which would have happened before the KC trade and pick. I am pretty sure it was not a - we did not expect it moment - they had been working the phone lines with Pittsburg that got their QB, they were not getting NE, then it was GB and Baltimore and they got the deal done. I am not sure who you think didn’t expect this - lots of talk prior to the draft about moving up several picks to get their guy. The problem is some people thought that move up would be for a falling WR - they did not fall. It was to get their new CB1b.
  17. @GunnerBill hit it. McDuffie to me based on size and arm length will play best inside with the ability to rotate to boundary corner as needed. He has the athletic ability to play either, but not the true size. KC has traditionally rotated their corners and played match-up games - sliding a boundary guy inside and rotating a slot guy out to play match-ups. I think McDuffie fits best in that role where he can be allowed to get favorable match-ups. He also profiles to me more as a technical CB like Wallace was and the Bills did not want that again. Finally, as a outside boundary CB - the size and arm length were a disadvantage in covering WRs and although McDuffie is very talented - I think that risk exposing him in the Bills scheme. Elam on the other hand has all of the traits the Bills want - Size, Speed, Arm Length, etc. He projects (and played) as a boundary CB at Florida (outside and lots of 1:1 man). He even played lots of Short Side Boundary- which opens a CB up to lots of crossing routes with huge space and he had the speed to stick to the WR. Picture Hill on the TD late in the 4th corner crossing the field - Wallace could not cover that, but Elam at under 4.4 can. I think this pick gives the Bills flexibility to play various zone/man and even man up coverages like they were doing before the White injury. What we won’t know is where the Bills ranked the 2 on the board. I just believe as the Bills did not have McDuffie in as a top 30 visit and they did have Elam (last visit before the draft) - that Elam was their pick all along. I think teams like the Bills and Chiefs had been getting rumors of the next wave of CBs starting around 20 and both wanted up to be safe. Beane said he talked to guys as high as 20 and 23 was were the deal got done. KC was able to get 21 because it was a division rival making that hard for the Bills to swing.
  18. I don’t think that is quite true with the Bills. How about Best Player Available base on Need and Positional Value (BPABNPV). I think they look at need and value and I base that on the fact that Beane clearly stated that if CB is the Best Player - he would draft another corner. There is not the need, but it is a huge positional value position - especially with the WR movement. I expect there will be other positions available, but it is part of the reason I laughed at RB in Rd 1 because the need may be there, but the value clearly wasn’t.
  19. Ask David Ojabo about that. He worked hard and got himself a 1st round grade and staying in school only opens you up to more scrutiny and injury risk. He was excellent before, but played through an injury that made him more inconsistent - we see that at the NFL level. That is a positive trait - you speak to it and move forward. The brass ring was there - he might go a bit higher next year or he get paid starting now and has potential to hit FA at 25 and perhaps get hooked into 2 big pay days before 30.
  20. I believe they brought him in to confirm health issues or clear him. The rumor is the Hernia was fine, but there were knee issues that got red flagged by several teams. I suspect you are absolutely correct on McDuffie if he was not a visit. Elam was one of the last visits - I think that was on purpose as he was their target.
  21. Nice to hear from the Bills, but Sal has said it several times. Everything he had heard was White was ahead of schedule and they were expecting him to sit out TC, but be ready Week 1 or Week 2. Barring a setback - They said the Bills were eyeing Week 1 with some limited snaps and then letting him work back to health. I think this pick helps limit any rush and let’s Tre’ have the time they need.
  22. Do we know the Bills were not looking to trade up prior to the KC pick. I think they knew they had 1 CB left with a first round grade and were looking to move up, but they were not going to deal with NE - I think they were looking at as high as 19/20 with 22 or 23 being the sweet spot. I also think that KC was able to deal with NE and drafted a CB, but not the one the Bills wanted. Either way I feel like the Bills got the better fit for them. Elam is bigger, faster, and excelled in a press zone coverage. McDuffie was smaller - with shorter arms (below the threshold that most teams want) and fit better in KCs scheme. My guess is both Buffalo and KC heard rumors of teams wanting their players and both moved up. Whether related or not - I don’t care. Elam will look good in Buffalo colors rather than Dallas colors.
  23. Hall was never going to put up comparable numbers to Singletary. He lacked skills at blocking - so he was going to get limited snaps no matter what. Let’s just wait and see where he goes. I think he might be available at 57 if we want him. I think he might end up as the 2nd RB Taken. At least when he goes it will be a matching value rather than a huge reach that he couldn’t live up to.
  24. Guess your Vegas insider info was wrong to. They knew nothing. One guy starts something and the others jump on and before long a bunch of guys with no knowledge form a hive opinion. Beane came out in the interview pre draft and stated they didn’t have 25 1st round grades and when asked about RB - talked about the next group and positional value. It was pretty obvious where they and everyone ranked the RBs in this draft. The NFL insiders all talked themselves into based upon their speculation last year - the Bills have shown consistently where they value the RB position.
  25. No teams ever have 32 first round grades. The best draft Beane has ever seen had close to 25 according to Sal. This year it sounded like they had about 15-20 1st round grades. The hope is at least 1 will be available when you pick. It sounds like Elam was their last one.
