  1. There is no such thing as "development" in the NFL. Perform now or move along.
  2. There is zero difficulty with drafting a QB. They're all over the place. The problem is getting a good one. That's a more refined problem.
  3. If that's the case, then it doesn't matter who they take at 22; they're doomed.
  4. Funny the stuff that ignites some people.
  5. While I agree with you, I don't see how this QB focus changes anytime soon. The guy with the ball in his hand is always going to be the center of attention, and the center of attention is always going to get the bigger money.
  6. All things are possible, Grasshopper, but not all things are probable.
  7. Thanks for all your work, man. Your comments are insightful and definitely clarify my own senze of these guys. I think I'd go with Darnold over Rosen though, after watching every game they played.
  8. This makes all the sense in the world. The Browns already have a better than decent RB. What they don't have is Joe Thomas. If I am them, spending big on a rookie QB, I do everything I can to shore up the O line. But we shall see. This is the Browns.
  9. Relax and consider the source.
  10. Welcome aboard. Good post. If you've been lurking, you know there are a few posters who are just cranky, a few who are naturally contrary, and a few who are indeed who are, shall we say, "race-sensitive." But the overwhelming majority are none of those things. We may be all over the place with our opinions, our knowledge, our passion for this player over that one. But most are just sincere Bills fans who want the best for our team as we each see it. The choleric minority can sometimes overshadow this fact. I guess what I'm saying is, Don't let them get you down. Keep on posting and contributing.
  11. Can you give a citation for his coaches hating him?
  12. The Giants could get a king's ransom for that 2nd pick. If they keep it and use it on Barkley, they are way over-valuing him IMO. What seems more likely if they stay at Two is they take whichever QB is left after Cleveland's pick, Darnold or Rosen. I think then the Browns hold on to the 4th and take Chubb/Barkley.
  13. Your post shows a nearly perfect ignorance of the USC situation. First off, three starters from 2016 O line were gone and had to be replaced. For the first few weeks, the line was in constant turmoil, players trying different positions, new guys being given a tryout, and so on. And then the injuries starting hitting. At one point, there were three third stringers starting. In the Ohio State game, Darnold, who's very good at escaping pressure, was hit 24 times! And the two main receivers from 2016 were gone to the NFL so it took a few games before who the best new guys were got sorted out, and Darnold and the WRs began working well with each other. Once that started happening, the interceptions went way down. And for the record, 13 interceptions in 13 games isn't exactly a "turnover" machine, especially when you consider how poor the defense played at times (injuries again) forcing the offense to seemingly having to play high-risk offense game after game. There are two things that are of concern: Darnold almost never played from under center; and he has a tendency to lose the ball. But as he's still only 20 and learning, I expect he'll correct both.
  14. Great piece of writing, BLM. I'm old too, maybe older than you, and grew up as well in a "wayside shrine." A full on immersion into Italo-Germano-Irish Catholicism, with bleeding hearts, bleeding sides, bleeding heads, ascending bodies, descending angels and the BVM over all. Catholic school too. And all of it before Vatican II so a completely different, highly mystical Catholicism. BTW, as far as McCarron's Catholicism is concerned, it used to be and still might be true that, like with Orthodox Jews, people with tattoos cannot be buried in consecrated ground. But as far as tattoos of bloody Christs and saints and rosaries go, it's pretty common among Latino gang members in Southern California.
  15. I'm surprised so many Buffalo people are high on this kid considering how often a certain segment is opposed to any QBs from California.
  16. While none of the QBs in the draft are Sure Things, Darnold is the closest to it. He's head and shoulders above all the other QBs, Rosen and Mayfield included. He'd be the only one worth paying a very stiff price to move up for. But the only way the Bills could guarantee that price would get them Darnold is to trade for the first pick. And there's not a chance that Haslam makes that deal. And if by some strange reason the Browns pass on him, the Giants are going to take him by all reports.
  17. I hope the Bills are scouting Deontay Burnett and Ronald Jones as well. I like Nwosu too.
  18. There's a very real chance that 4 QBs will be taken before the Bills pick at 12 (Browns, Giants, Jets, Denver) and my guess is they will be Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield and Allen though not necessarily in that order. That leaves Jackson and Rudolph among the hyped QBs and I don't think either one is worth a 12th pick. There's a mixed bag of QBs available later in the draft and Free Agency that include Logan Woodside (supposedly the Pats have been scouting him in depth), Falk, Lauletta, White, Chase Litton etc. None of them jump out as a "franchise QB" but you never know. I'm willing to bet the Bills have looked at more than a few of them so we'll see.
  19. I actually prefer Ronald Jones to Barkley.
  20. Browns, Jets, Denver and possibly Miami are all in the market for Qbs. There's even a chance the Giants take one. My guess - and that's all it is - is 3 are gone when Bills pick so it's just a matter of which 3 are taken. The top 4 seem to be Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield and Allen so one of them should be there at 12. Then there's Jackson, Rudolph and all the rest. A 12th for one of the top 4 seems okay but for the rest, I'm not so sure.
  21. If only you were the GM of all the teams drafting ahead of the Bills.
  22. The Giants need a QB probably for next year but they don't need another QB mess this year so their best bet would be one who they could sit and 'coach up' for a year without fans screaming to play the new guy. The best fit for that role is Allen if they think his flaws can be corrected. But choosing a bench-warming project at number 2 is not a smart move. The better option would be to trade down for a couple more picks. I don't think they can safely drop below the 6th pick, so if the Bills want that second pick, they need to get to the 6th.
