I am not giving up, the Bills can still have a winning season
yungmack replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right now, every team on the schedule is better than the Bills so 0-16 would not be a shock. Still, it is almost impossible to not win at least one game by accident so my prediction is 1 to 3 wins. -
[Edited Title] Patrick Mahomes Looks Great

So we only talk about Bills players? Gonna make it hard this week to discuss what that other QB did from that other team the Bills played today, the one with those guys from another city somewhere. -

I 'm beginning to think the culture McD claims he's building has a whole lot to do with exactly that. Anyone know if Castro is an evangelical Christian? Ducasse? Benjamin? -
McBeane's way of rebuilding makes no sense
yungmack replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This isn't the 60s anymore. No team (at least no consistently successful team) does a "raze and rebuild" these days. Slow moving, multi-year doesn't work anymore. You absolutely have to hit on your draft picks and use that 4 and 5 year window to bring in your expensive FAs and to sign your own picks to extended contracts if they've showed you they're worth it. And the most critical signing (duh) is the "franchise QB." And to make sure that QB doesn't get killed, you go with the old cliche: You build the team from front to back, inside to outside. If you know Beane or McDermott, would you please pass that along to them? In my case, I wouldn't know how to build a 100 story skyscraper. But I do think I'd question the architect if he was building it on a foundation of hay bales. -
Nobody should be doubting Beane or McDermott

Crazy Horse had a better one. -
They would be...in a vacuum. But this is year 18 of "rebuilding," of front office and coaching turnover, of incoherence in identity resulting in drafting for one coach who is replaced by another coach with a different approach so the former picks are dumped so the new regime can get "their guys," on and on. So it isn't like this has been a perennial top franchise just having an off year, this is who the Bills are. Except for a couple of fairly short successful stretches, the Bills have always been mediocre to awful and the current regime is looking more and more like they will continue that "tradition." So the " bottom feeders, " as you so nastily state, are the historically correct realists. As to those who refuse to acknowledge what they see right in front of them and demand non-critical support for "their" team, saying "Just give them more time," I remind them it's been 58 years and counting. How much more time should we be blindly positive, loyal and supportive?

Sad I have to say this, but you are completely correct, and I attended the first Bills camp at Seymour Knox's estate and the first Bills game at the Rockpile, so I've seen a lot of crappy regimes. This one is looking more and more like "more of the same." I'm beginning to think McBeane's "vision" is more about creating an intense Fellowship of Christian Athletes bible study group than a winning NFL team

Which singular player were you most disappointed with?
yungmack replied to Bockeye's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those who are ragging on Star have no idea how to evaluate him. He and Kyle are supposed to occupy up to 4 O linemen opening the backfield for the ends & LBs. Looked to me like they did exactly that. The Ravens running game was held in check. If you have a criticism you might want to direct it to others on the D. -
Hypothetical 2019 scenario, please comment
yungmack replied to elltrain22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Based on McBeane's short history here, which includes which players they cut, trade or let walk, and the FAs and draft picks they make, there is zero reason to believe they can identify talent. That they would commit so heavily to Vlad, Benjamin, Peterman, that they would open the season with only two very suspect and inexperienced QBs on the roster, that a receiver who always seemed to get open and nearly always catch the ball (Reilly) is cut while the roster WRs seemingly can do neither, that Clay continues to get the starts...these and about a dozen other head scratchers, make me feel like Team McBeane are , like Peterman, who they chose when they could have had Mahomes, they're just not competent enough for the NFL. But first, "We'll have to look at the tape." -
I didn't expect much from the Bills but I didn't expect this horror show. Too soon to write the season off completely (I will wait a month. Hopefully improvement is in the wind). Still, it is looking to me more & more like Beane and McDermott are in over their heads.

Compounded by Beane dumping players who apparently don' "fit the process," with the Bills having to eat a ton of contract money, including Dareus's. As long as they're paying him, they might has well kept Mr. Big Stuff.

Your standard for "hot" is very pedestrian.
