LT is Bell's to lose. By now, we should all know that Buddy Nix is open and honest. He's said right along that the FO is comfortable with Bell. Would he like to have a HOFer? Sure. But again, like he said, there were other positions of greater need THIS YEAR. Bell's got 8 starts under his belt. Is that enough to decide he stinks? I don't think so.

Clearly a Wang supporter.

Bills standing pat at QB..........for a reason.

Love the post. -
So far, the Bills haven't added a TE. FO must really like what they have there.

Your post reminded me of something Big Daddy Lipscomb once said about playing defense: "You keep picking guys up and tossing them away until you find the guy with the ball. Him you keep."

Just read a great article on Marcus Easley: http://www.buffalonews.com/2010/04/25/1031...t-interest.html At the bottom is news on the Bills FA signings. Pretty interesting, including this: Joique Bell has two 2,000-yard rushing seasons, including 2,084 as a senior when he won the Harlon Hill Trophy as the best player in Division II. He finished his four-year college career with 6,728 rushing yards and 88 rushing touchdowns (29 in 2009). Antonio Coleman went undrafted despite leading the Southeastern Conference with 10 sacks and 16.5 tackles for losses. He had 24.5 career sacks and projects as an outside linebacker in the 3-4 defense.

Are you really certain we're deficient in those three areas? Just because the draft "gurus" say those are positions of need does not make it so. And Nix seems to think we're okay there for now. As he says over and over, "We have a different opinion of our players than many of you do" Think I'll take Buddy's opinion over all the nay-sayers.

Vote of Confidence in Edwards
yungmack replied to Gabe Northern's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My guess is that whatever faults the current QBs have, Nixley didn't think the choices in the draft were an improvement over these guys, so why bother? I also guess they felt the same way about Jason Campbell, that they'd just be exchanging one set of problems for another. -

That's what we already figured. -

Very good post. My only quibble: I think the Bills are in Year Two of a rebuild that began with bringing Nix back in to shape up the scouting department last year which, Maybin aside, saw a pretty good draft. -
Making your religion a public display is a huge no-no, according to the teachings of Jesus (ya could checkitout if ya wanna in the New Testament). But I suppose Tebow knows better. The guy is perfectly creepy.

According to Nixley, it is not a problem at this time.

This team can go 8-8 this year...if not better.

The schedule is a little more favorable as well, I think. -
Very nice article. One thing I've noticed from reading about the Bills picks this year is that everyone of them seems to be really good kids.
-
Let me see if I've got this right: Maybin stinks it up so much this year that even a rebuilding Bills team can't use him, and you somehow figure they can trade him? Maybe they can trade McCargo for, oh, I don't know, how about Suh? Too bad the Bills don't still have Flowers. He stunk so much we could probably get Adrian Peterson for him.

Very insightful post.

I've been following the Bills since they began and this might be the best seven rounds of a draft they've had in all those years. I say this because the FO seems to have a very, very definite and clear idea of the kind of team they want and know precisely the sorts of players they need right now to make that happen. They didn't hem or haw about why they chose this guy instead of that guy. They seemed to know each of their picks inside and out, as well as their competitors, and were supremely confident in their choices. What a change that is for the Bills! One of the things that jumps out at me from reading all I can on each of these kids (and thank you to all of you who dug up the excerpts and links. Great job!) is that they all appear to be really good human beings as well as fine players. And pretty darned bright as well. Heck, Easley was on an academic scholarship when he walked on (I believe this kid is going to be special, FWIW). Amazingly, Buddy Nix told us right from the beginning what he was going to do, then did exactly that. How rare that is these days. And I love that he didn't give a crap about what the pundits and the media had to say. And still doesn't. It was the critics who said the Bills "must have" an OT and a QB, not Nix. He said right along that he was happy with the QBs he had and would add one more, that he liked Marshawn and he wasn't going anywhere, that they'd draft an O tackle and a NT and a receiver. He's also said he really, really likes Kyle Williams, and that he wants Schobel in Buffalo if Schobel wants to be there, so I wouldn't expect either one to be shown the door. And he believes Maybin has a lot of upside. On the other hand, I can't recall that sort of endorsement for Kelsay, Stroud, Poz, Mitchell, Ellison and quite a few of the rest of the roster. You can't remake the roster with one draft, but, as we well know, you can screw it up for years with a bad one. If this one turns out the way I believe it will, then the Bills are well on their way to much better days.

Which, by the way, is one of the reasons I like Davis as well. Can you imagine a wad like McShay ever showing a moment of doubt? Or in any way showing respect for an opposing opinion? ESPN deserves McShay and Kiper and Gruden and Young and the rest of the uninformed ego maniacs they collect like a hound dog collects burrs.

Round 5, Pick #140: OT Ed Wang - Virgina Tech

I've long wondered who goes to all those Seth Rogan movies. After all the third grader snickers about "Wang" et al, I've finally gotten my answer. Sheesh. -
Round 7, Pick #209: QB Levi Brown - Troy
yungmack replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I'd take LeFevour over Bradford, Clausen and McCoy. And a Happy Meal to go over Tebow any day of the week. -
I never paid much attention to Chavous until earlier this year at the Senior Bowl. He was so amazingly knowledgeable, he and Mayock were talking on another level entirely from the other guys. And since then I've noticed that Mayock holds Chavous's opinions in high regard, and to me, that says it all. I believe he's right giving the Bills an "A" I think this is one of the best drafts the Bills have had EVER. And I've been following them from their beginning. The opinions of anyone on ESPN are worthless and nonsensical.

Round 7, Pick #209: QB Levi Brown - Troy

And Corey Chavous picked LeFevour as the best QB in the entire draft. I'd go with Chavous anyday over that moronic McShay. -
For everybody whose panties are in a twist because the Bills didn't take this guy or that guy, didn't address the QB position, blew it by not fixing this need, take a look at this video of Nix and Modrak from Friday evening, As Nix says, "We have so many needs, they ought to give us three picks each round." That's the reality this year. And that's what we have to live with. http://www.buffalobills.com/media-lounge/v...f2-560bb861fa5c
