  1. I'm not certain Evans makes this team.
  2. I get your point, and I don't disagree that most of those guys are/were franchise QBs. But the history of several of them is more nuanced than that in that they sure weren't seen as "franchise QBs" by several teams they played for. Seems like having the right type of players around them and the right type of coaching made a huge difference in how we see them today. Even Bradshaw was widely seen as a bust at first. Len Dawson -- Dumped right out of the NFL, wound up in the upstart AFL Johnny Unitas -- Dumped by the woeful Steelers of the 50s Jim Plunkett -- Dumped Steve Young -- Dumped Brett Favre -- traded away Kurt Warner -- Legendary tale of not being taken seriously by several teams Tom Brady -- 6th round pick, gathering moss on NE bench until Bledsoe got injured Big Ben -- Team won super bowls, but I don't consider him a top level QB Eli Manning -- Not even as good as Roethlisberger
  3. Cody has bust written all over him. Grossly overweight, unable to stay on the field, reputedly also has poor work habits.
  4. Impressive. But that seems to be a characteristic of all the picks Nix made. It's a really interesting group from that angle. They just seem like a good bunch of level-headed kids. Not a mook in the bunch.
  5. I have faith in Gailey's judgment about the starting QB. If he and his staff believe TE is the guy, then they're seeing something a lot of people around here don't. But then, they're far more skilled at that then any of us. So if they say he's the one, then I will support that. Same for Brohm or Fitz or Brown or anyone else they put on the field. I suspect whomever is out there will be on a fairly short leash. If it's TE out there and he begins reverting to his Captain Checkdown persona, I don't think Gailey will dither about replacing him.
  6. "Thug" has a very specific historical meaning (worshippers of Kali who committed murder as a religious act). In current usage, it also has a fairly specific meaning. So...who are those thugs on the Bills?
  7. Let's see: Last year, Jauron was head coach, your O-Coordinator is fired right before the season begins along with your starting LT, you're starting two rookies on the O-line at guard and an almost-rookie at LT, your line gets so beaten up that you wind up starting eleven different guys there, your receivers are the same underachieving group as always plus an AARP addition, the injury bug tears into your D at a frightening rate and your QB position is in turmoil all season long. And yet you win 6 and have at least 4 more in your hands. This year: New GM, new HC and staff, including Bruce De Haven and what looks like a serious commitment in the strength department, your rookie linemen are a year older, you've drafted CJ Spiller, your HC has a well-deserved rep as a QB guru, your off-season FA signings seem, if not blockbusters then at least well-targeted and an upgrade, your defense is overhauled while returning some of your best D players, your draft (in my opinion) is one of the best you've ever had, and you just might have some very good receivers. Sure, there are lots and lots of unknowns. But how in the world can a supposedly knowledgeable guy like King compare the execrable Bills of last season with the Bills of 2010 and think that they will be so much worse? To finish 31st would mean winning no more than 2 or 3 games. Really? The only way that happens is if Gailey and the players who make the roster are incredibly bad, that this whole change-of-regime is one of the worst mistakes in the history of the NFL, that every negative thing said about Nixley is true (and every positive thing is wrong). Somehow, I don't think that's the case. 10-6, easy.
  8. Niagara Falls was once (and perhaps still is...I'm too lazy to look it up) on the Seven Wonders of the Natural World listing. But that was in the 19th and early 20th century. So was the Grand Canyon. I think Victoria Falls and/or Iguacu Falls have replaced it.
  9. I think you can add Evans to that list.
  10. Where on this vast planet is Macungie? Have they tested the waters for toxins lately? Oops, your avatar explains your method of thinking.
  11. Started by a couple of guys from Buffalo.
  12. Call Bill Clinton.
  13. Horse****, Tim. You have no obligation to make a difference in anyone's life. Your only obligation is to play football as well as you can to help your employer succeed. Your only responsibility is to yourself. Only the seriously deranged want to hear a long-sheltered-and-pampered football player go on and on about his "special" relationship with invisible people . So, Tim, go back to your "good book" and find those passages where your lord and savior condemns those prominent people who make a big public deal about their religion. In other words, Tim, just mind your own business.
  14. Because of Spiller's perceived ability to "take it to the house" every time he touches the ball, just having him on the field is going to screw with the defenders minds. I could see the Bills having Lynch, Jackson and Spiller on the field at the same time, with Spiller split out or in motion. The D is going to have to put one of its better players on Spiller, which should open it up for the receivers, including the TE. So whether he get 10 or 15 or 25 touches per game, his mere presence on the field should make the Bills offense substantially better.
  15. Don't know how many wins he's worth. How's the rest of the Ravens roster?
  16. And a strong defense...which gets the other team off the field and frustrates its game plan. A strong D means less offense is required to win games, and with a questionable O line and (at least right now) a very questionable QB situation, we shouldn't expect 35 or 40 point games. If you can only score 13 to 24 points, your D better be among the top ten in the league.
  17. What you or I THINK about him is just that, what we think about him. What we have here is evidence that we're correct. More importantly, what this study does is evaluate his play relative to all others last season at his position.
  18. For the record, the name is pronounced "WONG."
  19. Of course he shills for the house, but this isn't a Brown opinion piece. He's passing on info from another, supposedly unbiased, pure numbers source.
