MAGA is really taking a victory lap after that clown show? A rambling moron touting a hastily thrown together plan, using back-of-the-napkin math (that makes zero sense) that is intended to reset the global trade market and geopolitical relationships. A plan that, if executed thoroughly, would be a massive gamble.
All while reneging on deals that the clown himself entered, but demanding faith in himself and his band of liars.
What a ***** joke these people are.
These tariffs are way too much too fast. I know that Trump is banking on this resulting in negotation and better rates, but a trade war seems to be the more likely result, I do not listen to fox or CNN when deciding how a President is doing in the economy, I look at monthly expenses, retirement savings, and how my family and friends at various income levels are doing . I do not like what I have seen in the last three months, so I am not pleased about the direction with tariffs so far.
What that being said, I will give it more time because it takes more than one decision to fix the mess that was created.. In case Trump's ideas fail, what does your party have to offer to address the debt if they get power back? At some point, the US is going to have to pay the piper. I would rather have that on our terms instead of on China's. What would be the left's plan to fix it? I've heard nothing from the left but "tax the rich more.", but this doesn't work as the only option because there are still trillions in debt after you've drained them and the rich know how to work around heavy taxes. What I have seen from Democrat candidates over the past 20 years are promises to the people that sound great on paper, but add trillions to the debt. The Republicans have done this to an extent too, but dems treat the US budget like a Beverly Hills teen girl on a shopping spree with daddy's credit card.
Your last post added nothing to the table. If TDS people do not like what happened yesterday, great, I agree. How about offering an alternative instead of whining and saying the same exact one liners and cheap tweetable propaganda that we have seen every day since 2016? We know that you all hate Trump. My question to you or the others is what is your proposed method for turning around the economy, helping the US bring in more than they spend and stopping the cycle of increased debt?

What about Russia? No tarriffs for them I'm sure.
Trade sanctions make tariffs unnecessary. You cant add a tariff to zero.
There are plenty of valid concerns that opponents of this could express, no need to add things that can easily be disputed and explained.

Nothing like nice neutral poll questions from c-section 3. No slant in those at all.

This is such an interesting subject from an economic perspective, too bad all we can do is flame away at each other.
Honestly it's ballsy gambit. This is how I see it:
Historically our exports are generally tarriffed/taxed at a higher rate than we are charging on imports. Combined with generally lower environmental regulatory standards by some of our biggest trade partners (well, motlstly one giant smoggy one), it creates a really unequal playing field for American producers.
But what are the potential outcomes of this trade war beyond increased short term prices? It's a hell of a question. Some bad, some neutral, some great.
I see the value of tariffs in small doses, but personally think that this is way too much too fast. We didn't get to this level of debt overnight, and it will take more than one decision or even one year of decisions to get us out. The level of success or failure for this will depend on other countries and whether they are willing to negotiate or whether they call his bluff and retaliate (I wouldn't put it past far left celebrities and extremist activists to beg other country leaders to do the latter.)
If it is the first scenario, he looks brilliant, if it is not, it could create a mess and essentially guarantee democrat wins in two and four years. Since we were all told to "give it more time", three years into Biden's term, I can give it at least a couple of months before i pass full judgment.

My God. The Covidians truly didn’t understand the ramifications of shutting everything down while pumping 8 trillion into the economy - and more - during Covid.
In 2020, they said that Trump was cruel and heartless for not giving every person $6000 multiple times in a stimulus package instead of $1400. Then 3 years later, it was his fault for spending recklessly, deliberately being oblivious to the fact that it would have been worse if they got what they wanted. There is no reasoning with them.

MAGA is opposed to all these things.
Exaggerated, oversimplified rhetoric and passive aggressive appeal to emotion. Typical TDS word vomit. You thought that you had a good point, but "bark bark bark" is all I heard!

“Muh both sides” is a pointless argument when the MAGA side is deliberately dismantling American hegemony and institutions. If you want to childishly dismiss this like a little internet troll boy if that is fine, but I will never regret looking at each issue individually instead of blindly letting the media provide your opinion like you do. Contrary to your viewpoint, there is no honor in being a mindless sheep that cannot have an independent thought.

Your post was a perfect example of that. No context and an appeal to emotion. Lazy, played out an typical of both sides in 2025. I am actually center-right and miss the days when we could choose between a Republican or Democrat America instead of choosing between Gilead and 1984.

So tell us what you think about Russia. Friend or foe? Trustworthy? Do you support them or Ukraine? Is a USSR sticker on you car?
Nope, Putin is terrible, but the other two alternatives are Ukraine get fully taken over or WW3.
Do you think that every last Ukrainian soldier being defeated and Russia taking over anyway is a victory? Are you willing to volunteer and join them on the front line? If they answer is no to one or both, then maybe it is time to rethink your stance and stop letting others die for it. I remember when liberals prioritized peace.
Most "supporters" for Ukraine are nothing more than virtue signaling and toeing the party line. They only care about looking trendy on social media and conformity, not the soldiers and civilians dying over there.

So France and Germany are old bad Europe. I assume Great Britain is in that group too.
Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, N. Macedonia, Finland and Sweden are new, good Europe. Got it.
New Europe is in NATO because they all fear they will be the next Ukraine. I’m pretty sure, they are just fine having France and Germany as allies. Strange how MAGA hates them. Also interesting that most Americans have a much stronger affinity to bad, old Europe than new Europe.
It's fine if an entire country loses 80-90 percent of their male population to a war, as long as YOU can be an amazing virtue signaling champion by expressing nominal support for Ukraine! You are doing your part just as much as those soldiers because that The little Ukrainian flag sticker on your car bumper is your truth and makes the three year war all worth it, right? That is the progressive way!

1. I Vote in Canada, I am a fiscal conservative. I detest woke. Immigration is out of control. Religion is too strong in our countries,
2. You will not see Vance in 28, you will be either in civil war or elections will be cancelled
3. It is often a trick of dictators to create external threats to take greater control internally...and trump is doing his best
4. Dictators also find internal enemies to blame and begin using the excuse to limit freedoms and the rule of justice and law. That started Jan 6.
5. While you don't love everything that Trump does, you must watch the guardrails to democracy that he is removing. Congress is non existence. Blaming judges, question the rules of law, ignoring your own laws regarding immigrants, greencards, visas, executive orders replacing congressional bills, lose of trustworthiness by other nations etc etc. US oligarchs have taken power...of the government. While democrats regulation over reach has to be undone, not by Oligarchs, that is Russia, not America. Even the republican controlled congress isn't involved in removing regulations.
6. Biden should never have been elected, Harris is a joke and gutless, Vance is a bully and a joke, blue suits and red ties are the new brown shirts, politicians always stretch the truth, but some now get cheers for outright lying.
7. America had greatness that went way too far left. America no longer has greatness in the eyes of the world as they have shown to be untrustworthy and threatening.
I just hope your congress grows some balls. A terrible situation when Bernie Sanders is the only voice, and he sounds reasonable.
So overall, your opinions seem reasonable and since you are in Canada, I can understand your viewpoint much better now as Trump has not treated Canada well. IMO, Trump only got in because the democrats held on to Biden way too long despite clear signs of cognitive decline and then managed to pick the one option that was even worse than him once it was too obvious to hide it any further. I mistaking thought that you were a typical US TDS person, my apologies.
I am actually moderate leaning conservative and not MAGA. We just went through four years of economic disaster where the lower and middle class are being priced out of day-to-day life. There was partisan division from a President who was clearly on the decline with a media that did nothing but gaslight about everything telling us that BIden was fine, the economy was better than ever, and that freedom of speech was great, but conservative opinions were "just too dangerous." This may be why the leash is a little longer for Trump to me that it may have been in the past. I wanted Haley to get in in the Primaries and would have settled for anyone else, but once Trump got in, I was willing to take that leap.
As far as an invasion of Canada, I of course would be 100 percent against it. In addition, 80-90 percent of Americans would also be against it. I do not think that it would happen even if he tried to pull it off. There is constant resistance to Trump overall and many of the Republicans who were against him until Biden and Harris became worse would not stand for it. We also have a 25th amendment in place where a President can be removed if they become a danger or incapacitated, my trust is that out country has enough checks and balances to get rid of him (or anyone else in the future who goes rogue) if things got out of hand.
My biggest pet peeve is the media in the US. You have CNN and NBCNews who question and fact check every single thing that Trump does and Fox that worships him. Neither are reasonable ways to stay informed, but al least there is now NewsNation if you want a more balanced take on tv. MAGA and TDS both bother me, but only the TDS crowd has control of the media and shoved it down our throat for eight years. That is why I came off as so fed up. The US will not get less divided and extreme on both sides until the media goes back to being news instead of Media entertainment.
I hope that things can mellow out in the next few months and that Canada and the US will be on better terms again.

DEI fell out of favor for the same reason why people don't like the KKK. Most rational people hate racism no matter what race it is against. Here is a good article from a mainstream media source discussing why DEI failed.

Don't take any medicine, don't go to any doctor, it's all a hoax. They are out to get you. They put tracking devices in medicine so the know what you are doing at all times.
Another display of liberal tolerance from the self admitted troll. This line stopped being cool when the Supreme court overturned the push to allow employee discrimination and internment camps based on an experimental vaccine. It was interesting how quickly the branch covidian/toxic conformity movement disappeared once people realized that they didn't have to be one of the first to challenge it anymore.
However, regarding this topic, I do agree with many others that there are a large amount of more likely possibilities than the COVID vaccine for this one.

Yeah, but I will vote next month...and I have a close view of the once most envied country in the world, maybe ever, destroy itself, or be destroyed. With the exception of maybe Russia, becoming the most untrustworthy nation. Sad times we are living in.
Next month? I get early voting, but that is a bit much. We wont even know who the Democrat superdelegates are going to hand pick over the people's choice of Bernie Sanders this time for a couple more years.
If you think that Trump is destroying the country, you must have been really upset when Biden was in office. He turned the US into everyone's punching bag and punchline while inviting every country to bring their worst of the worst here and calling his own citizens "racists" for questioning it. It is very hard to go lower than that.
Your "party of the people" focused solely on court cases and division while running this country into the ground by driving up food and housing to a level that is unsustainable to a majority of the country while keeping us divided and more unsafe than ever.
I don't like everything that Trump does, but I will sure as hell give him more than three months to clean up the toxic embarrassing mess that the people ordering the senile figurehead around made between 2021 and 2024. If you cant cope with Trump and want to imagine schizophrenic scenarios, that is your call. If your party over the next four years decides to act like you have chosen to do, you can look forward to four years of Vance between 2028 and 2032.

He is setting up his logic, Canada getting to close to China, threatening the oil and gas and steel and aluminum the US doesn't need, a leftist government to close to his dictatorship. All the typical rants. How can anyone even remotely consider the takeover of Greenland, a Danish territory, an allied territory, who has allowed and offered military base space, has allowed and encouraged US investment in minerals that Trump says he needs, that Trump sends his poodle boy to threaten 56,900 people in little Greenland. When you can have 100% of what you say you want with one smile, what can the possible motive be except war. Why would you waste you valued time if the goal is not far more sinister. You just want to enjoy being the bully.? Trump needs an invasion, that is the cover for his suspension of democratic principles, for canceling or postponing elections, for extending his term. Canada is the potential takeover to accomplish his real goal.
For a guy who everyone says is an expert at "the art of the deal" he actually makes very few. Gaza, Panama, China, Ukraine, Japan, Mexico, Canada, EU, Denmark, UK, .....not one deal. He has extracted money from some law firms, he has thrown out some illegal migrants, he has punished some political opponents , He has fired thousands,...(he has saved some money which is good), he has abandoned his friends, threatened his friends, isolated the country, threatened judges. But oh yes, made a deal with Venezuela dictator to take some gang members back, those who he didn't send to concentration camp in Guantanamo.
This is not skepticism, this is happening.
So, TDS Then.
Do you not realize how played out TDS propaganda is? It is a huge part of why the approval rate of the democrat party and media is at an all time low despite some of Trump's most recent antics. If you were trying to convince me that it wasn't TDS with your post, it was not the most sound strategy. There is not one point in your post that does not scream out stage 4 TDS. Seriously, only someone with an unhealthy obsession and hatred would jump to that conclusion. Get help. No one person whether famous or not should have that much of an impact on your day to day life.

This comment might carry some weight if the Democrat party didn't just finish a two year campaign solely focused on how bad the other guy was and still blame the past administration for things going wrong three years into Biden's term.
Don't set expectations and rules for your opposition that you aren't willing to follow yourself.
