What would Hundley add that Jones and Peterman couldn't potentially do that justifies giving something up for him? I kind of get the threads, due to years of Buffalo being reactive instead of proactive at QB, but those days are done. Gone are the days of having Thigpen, Lewis and Tuel as backups. Buffalo is finally thinking correctly on trying to get a quarterback. Taylor has a chance to prove himself this year and if he doesn't there are two prospects that we are developing in Peterman and Jones. In a worse case scenario, there is an extra first round pick to use as leverage to grab a first round quarterback in a good class. There is no need to trade for someone else's leftovers anymore

Pats fans laughing at Bills GM firing
dgrochester55 replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It easy to be a fan of the team that the NFL has every rule and script set to favor. How many of these pats fans liked the team in 2000? I guarantee that most of the current "fans" of the Patriots are either Millennials with no loyalty, or if they are old enough to know better liked the Cowboys in the 90's and the 49ers in the 80's. -
GM Doug Whaley has been fired

I don;t mind the move but the timing is strange. Why not do that before the draft? -
RD 5, Pick 171: Nathan Peterman (QB) - Pitt
dgrochester55 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't have a problem with this pick. I am always for adding a QB in the draft until you get the right person. Now you have Peterman who is fundamentally sound but may not have the best arm vs Cardale who is very athletic but raw in development. Polar opposites. I think those two are competing for a spot on the roster with Yates as the backup. If both stand out, maybe Yates is gone. Regardless, there is now competition for depth at quarterback. This definitely beats the Tyler Thigpen, Jeff Tuel, Thad Lewis days. -
I saw that live, you wont see it on the op's video, but I thought that Stephen A. Smith was trying to bait him about wanting to be in Philadelphia way too much. The guy on the right was a jerk too. McCoy actually handled himself pretty well, that interview was a complete waste of his time.

This team stinks thanks for horrible draft.

Part of the intrigue is that, this was posted at 4 in the morning and had a high level of intensity. There is a better than average chance that the OP is just waking up now and has no memory of posting this. -

Makes sense, thanks for replying. I cringed too when seeing Buffalo trading up both times, thinking "what now!" . When Jones was picked, some fake news site said that they gave up the 2nd round pick and both 3rd rounders for Zay Jones. I believed it and was like "not again" We've been burned in the past by that. Once I saw what the actual trades were, I was not upset. I was personally happy that Buffalo got the extra picks on the trade down and manged three picks in the first two rounds. They did trade up which has gone horribly in the past, but gave up a 5th rounder and the 3rd rounder that they got n the first trade. That is not too much, if these drafted players work out. Hopefully the draft turns out better than so many have in the last 17 years. -

The mind wanders into dark places in the late hours of the night, All kidding aside, I'm just curious to know what the original poster would have done different. He seemed pretty intense and sure of his opinion, so he must have a better alternative. -

My mistake, I'll just go ahead and edit that, lol. -

There have been bad trade up picks in the past, but this time they didn't give up that much. They lost the third rounder that they got from Thursday's trade and a fifth rounder. Buffalo has three picks in the top 2 rounds and 3 picks today, And there is an extra first rounder next year . I personally do not think that this is too bad considering that they had just 6 picks a couple weeks ago. It remains to be seen how these players do, but the strategy was sound this time. -
RD 2, Pick 63: Dion Dawkins (OT) - TEM

As far as receivers, I think we are set now. We needed a #2 option, which Jones fills. Holmes and Brown are good options as 3 and 4 and an upgrade over what we had there last year. I agree with the rest. Would love to see some defensive depth added with today's picks. -
TG on Whaley & McD sounds to be in charge update
dgrochester55 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, this was different. One trade down and two trade ups. We got three top 2 round players that fill needs and still have 3 players for depth tomorrow. This sure beats Jauron doing nothing and reaching for mid round picks in the first and second round, It also beats trading up a kings ransom for a good but not great player. Nobody knows exactly how three picks will work out but they just turned 6 meh picks a month ago into this result plus a first rounder next year. Nobody can knock the strategy. -

I will take this over the Dick Jauron era, "do nothing but reach and draft 4th rounders in the 1st and 2nd" any day. Who knows how this will work out, but Buffalo fills three needs with three picks in the first two rounds and has an extra first next year. There are still three picks for tomorrow. Keep in mind that they had only six picks to work with a month ago. I like what they are trying to do. -
Based on your last post, I can understand your response to mine. Sorry that you went through that. It was touching that he came up there with the picture of his grandmother, and I do understand that when someone goes through something rough, emotions can get the best of them. The first part was touching, but I thought that it had dragged out after, Take away the factor that I was waiting for the Bills, It would have seemed long regardless of the next team. I've never seen something similar to that during the draft. No hard feelings.
-
The only thing that bothered me is that it dragged out much longer than needed, and of course happened to be before our pick. We had to wait ten extra minutes to see who Buffalo picked because it was the Takk Mckinley show. As someone mentioned above, the result was the Bills draft choice being quickly rushed through, then it is suddenly Dallas's turn. Seems like ESPN finds a new creative way to make the Bills an afterthought when broadcasting the draft. I am guessing that if New England, Dallas or Green Bay was picking after Atlanta, than it wouldn't have taken as long.

RD 1, Pick 27: Tre'Davious White (CB) - LSU
dgrochester55 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like what happened tonight overall. The pick wasn't flashy but filled a need. The team has an extra 3rd pick tomorrow who could fill another hole. Most importantly, we have that extra first rounder in next years strong QB class. This could give Buffalo more leverage if they end up needing to move on at quarterback next year. Makes things easier to trade up if needed. -
WR Mike Williams Visited Bills today
dgrochester55 replied to Billy Zabka's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure that the guy is good, but something doesn't sit right with Buffalo adding another Mike Williams to the team. Plus I think that at some point in this decade, Clemson became the farm team to the Bills. -
Is it okay to have a second team to root for?
dgrochester55 replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I used to like Seattle as a second team until they got cocky about 4-5 years ago. Right now, my number two team is whoever is playing the Pats. -

Bills at Patriots, November 29, 1998 ending
dgrochester55 replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Just give it to em" should have been long forgotten. Buffalo still did enough to win despite that, if that had not been followed with a pass interference call on a Hailmary. I always found that call to be way worse. If I am not mistaken, at some point in that following week Tagliabue or another higher up made it clear to the refs that a pass interference on a play that like was to never be called again.
