I would like to have a mansion by the lake, but some things are just not going to happen. This isn't college, where MAC or Sun Belt coaches get poached by the larger divisions. If Chiefs fans could go ahead and enjoy their flavor of the week QB and not have disrespect for the Bills franchise, that would be great.

Are the Lions sort of the Bills of the NFC?
dgrochester55 replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lions and Bills are very similar. I think that the Lions are a little more relevant nationally due to having a thanksgiving game every year, and Barry Sanders has more of a national name recognition then any Bill besides OJ, who is now known for the wrong reasons. -
Can we start Barkley against the Jets instead?

Sorry, I heard that there are oceans in Europa so I am investing in a time share there. -

Bills have released Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes
dgrochester55 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure he will suddenly "find his groove" if signed by New England, but i have no respect for any NFL player who half ***** it like he did. Dont let the door hit your ass on the way out Kelvin. -

Buffalo was statiscally "in the hunt" which causes a need to "defer to the veterans" until last sunday, now this makes it official. This needed to happen. Thank you Charles Clay, in a way I guess. -
I agree with this, this is about the least disappointed that I ever remember feeling in a Bills loss. Yeah the drop sucked but many of the young players showed real potential to be a part of the team's future. We may have something in Allen, the Dolphins are saddled with a QB whose ceiling is "Meh".

We Are In Good Shape. Who Would You Dump Next Year?
dgrochester55 replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually noticed quite a dropoff when Bodine is not at center, so maybe not him, but besides that, this is pretty spot on. They just need to make sure that there are credible replacements. -
Allen's Last Pass (12/2): Bad Pass or Drop?
dgrochester55 replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not the most perfect pass, but any receiver should have caught that, I blame Clay and not Allen. I'm about 25% percent disappointed with the loss and 75% encouraged that Allen is capable of bringing the team back on a two minute drive. -
Since BBMB Shut Down - Do you Go To buffalobills.com?
dgrochester55 replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe once or twice to check news but not really. That board was going downhill fast, but there should have been some type of warning. I didn't stop going to the site out of protest, more then I never really looked at anything there besides the BBMB in the first place. I do not post here nearly as much as I did there, but this board is higher quality overall and I am glad to have found it. -
Would you take Marcell Dareus back?
dgrochester55 replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Might seem logical on paper to sign him as rotation depth for a low price, but definitely a no because of how he left the team. Its best for both sides to move on and i would guess that Dareus himself would rather try his luck in a new environment. -
The funny thing is that he is probably delusional enough to expect a big contract from someone. Buffalo's was weak at the position and This was a golden opportunity for himself to prove that he was a #1 guy. Instead he stopped trying, played like number two and would likely be cut if it wasn't for the salary. He will be lucky to get a one year incentive laden "prove it" deal from a team.

I have a view somewhere in between of this, I was born in the late 70's and most people in my generation and the baby boomers above got a spankin, or the belt, the switch etc.. when doing something wrong." Some parents went too far and when kids talked on the playground most tended to know the difference between getting a spanking for being disruptive at a restaurant or church and the kid that always missed school for falling down the stairs once or twice a month. Now it is too far on the other side. Many put their two year olds in front of a tablet, plug them in and cater to their every need. When they are 18, and are not capable of anything and they wonder why. Those kids turn out unable to deal with life when they get older. Any site search on how the first group of kids to grow up with the internet for their entire life shows this. Discipline of some sort is needed. How that is done is up for debate. There has to be a way where talking and educating comes first but physical discipline is there as a last resort. Either way, after seeing those pictures of AP's kid from a few years back, I would never trust him as a source on this subject.

Normally, I would say that the belt(used reasonably) is a common punishment, or at least was in the past and alone would not be a big deal. Coming from AP who did go way to far in beating a child, it is a little concerning. Not to say that we should automatically assume that it was as bad as the incident a few years ago, but based on the track record a little more worth looking into then it would have been for an average family.

There is no way we will beat the Jaguars
dgrochester55 replied to Cygnus99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah , lets do the career backup just needing his shot in the right situation again. It worked out so well with Fitz and Taylor both of which are more credible than Barkley. Barkley is not a long term option and I think that you probably actually know this in real life, but you keep doing message board you. -
Derek Anderson Good for Josh Allen?
dgrochester55 replied to Miracle Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why are we crowning Barkley as the solution to all of our problems? He had one good game, yes ONE game, and is a career backup. His ceiling is what Fitz and Tyrod did for Buffalo, and we have been down that road too many times. He had the advantage of no one knowing that he was starting until two days before and a caught a team that appears to be checked out. Barkley wont have that next time around and his career stats before Sunday were only a notch above Peterman. How does everyone truly think that this will go? If Buffalo is smart, they keep both Barkley and Anderson. We do not want to go back to the weekly QB audition strategy ever again. Anderson is there if Allen or Barkley are hurt or ineffective. Why drop Anderson? What roster spot is so vital that we cant have a 3rd QB? -
Is this a playoff team with Tyrod?
dgrochester55 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You cant have a team on the ropes when you put no points on the board. There are some other games when Its tough to tell though. I look more at the games where Anderson and Peterman started, those games weren't close, but the team came in with a very modified game plan on offense. It may have been a completely different game with an established quarterback, even a mediocre one. For the record, I do think that we should have ideally kept Taylor and still drafted Allen so I don't think our viewpoints are as different as you think. -

dgrochester55 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Conservatively, I would add only the Houston game as a win making the team 4-6 This would put us on the outside of the playoff hunt likely requiring a 5-1 finish. Besides that, I am not sure which of the other game would have been won. You could argue that Buffalo has a different game plan with a more established quarterback in the Indy, New England and Chicago games, but I would not assume that those were wins This doesn't mean that I think Taylor is special, You could say the same thing in a scenario where buffalo kept McCarron or possibly even if they signed Anderson or Barkley on week 1. -
I disagree here. Barkley had a great game, but is very unproven. Yeah he has been in the league for a few years, but would you really consider him a veteran in the same way that one might with Anderson, Tyrod, Fitz, Moore etc? If you look at Barkley's career TD/INT ratio before Sunday, it is not much better than what Peterman had. Barkley had the advantage of catching a team that is falling apart on the seams off guard after not being announced that he would start until two days before. He is still unproven and could have a meltdown game the next time he goes out there. I actually think that keeping Anderson is taking a smart precaution that they did not do when cutting McCarron.

McyD a coach of the year candidate?
dgrochester55 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't exactly say that McDermott is doing a bad job this year(besides the QB management), but no way he is even close to coach of the year. This is a rebuilding year, the team lost too many players from a playoff team that vastly overachieved, so very few people expected more than four to six wins which is about what Buffalo is on pace for. McDermott is doing an adequate job and about what was expected. His weak points are the QB situation and offseason decisions. His strong points are the defense, the team remaining motivated and knowing when to play younger players such as Teller and Foster over Ducasse and Pryor. I would give him something like a C+, but again, not coach of the year.
