Playoff Game Postgame Thread
dgrochester55 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hopefully that was Buffalo getting their bad week out of the way and returning back to form for the rest of the playoffs. -
Indy reminds me of our team last year where they can pretty much get the job done against the middle and lower tier teams but fall short against the better ones. Their defense is one of the better ones in the NFL, but Buffalo has shredded four good defenses over the last four games. Their offense is a middle of the road one so our defense is more than capable of containing them. Anything is possible in the playoffs, but the only way that I see Buffalo losing this is if they play uncharacteristically bad on both sides of the ball.

Wait Kelvin Benjamin Was Part of '14 draft class?!
dgrochester55 replied to HardyBoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember watching that game and hearing him say that live. Considering his appearance on that picture and that fact that he was 6'5, I think that 245 pounds was quite a generous estimation of his weight at that moment. -
Bills 34, Niners 24 Game Balls!
dgrochester55 replied to CSBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty much everyone besides Wallace and Moss but if I had to narrow it down, I would give it to Allen for having a mistake free game and arguably his best game as a pro. -
Fair enough, but sometimes a high draft pick that does not work out initially needs a change of scenery. Jerry Hughes is an example that comes to mind, he was a 1st round pick who was considered a bust for the Colts before being traded to Buffalo. This is only Baker's second year. Besides the character issue, he is not a bad risk for a low price and no worse of an option that Norman or Worley at this point.

I think White has been good overall this year, it just doesn't show as much the players around him have not been performing. The defense is not the same overall but I am not panicking about them yet. There was no preseason for the new players to get used to the team and I think that this effected their overall bad play(although Klein is coming around). They are also playing some of the top offenses in the NFL this year. Hopefully Buffalo can get healthy and make adjustments in the bye week.

The schedules Buffalo-Chargers, 49ers, Steelers, Broncos, Patriots, Dolphins Miami-Broncos, Bengals, Jets, Chiefs, Patriots, Raiders, Bills. I do not see that much of a difference. True, the Dolphins have a Jets game left, but they still have 7 games while we have 6. Both have one very tough game left in the Steelers for us and Chiefs for them. I do not think that the Bengals or Raiders will be push overs for them. The Dolphins have made it interesting, but this is far from a foregone conclusion. It is still our division to lose.

No other WR in the league today besides Hopkins would have caught that. The loss sucks but if you told me after the second Jets game that Buffalo would have taken two of the three against New England, Arizona and Seattle, I would have been happy. Miami is beginning to worry me, but Buffalo still plays them and currently has the tiebreaker. This is still Buffalo's division to lose.

Week 10 Around the League
dgrochester55 replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would personally rather see Brady fail because of his overall personality and for him also bringing Gronk and Antonio Brown there. I think the best compromise for this would be to have both of them do terrible for the rest of the year. -
Week 9 Around the League

Hate to say it, but the Dolphins might be for real. I don't think that they will take the AFC east, but they are a definite playoff contender. -
Game Balls! Bills 44, Seattle 34
dgrochester55 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Offense-Allen This one is obvious, might be his best game yet Defense-Klein A few made plays, but this was a nice game for a player who has taken a lot ofheat from many fans including myself ST- Bass Getting better, has a miss but I am not going to fault someone for missing a 61 yarder -
Gameday Thread Week 9 2nd Half Bills vs Seahawks

I can see it now. "Miami would have beaten Seattle by 20 and Tua would have had 500 yards. " -

Even though 34 points were given up, this is by far the best effort of the defense this season. -

Considering how good Seattle's offense is, I am impressed overall with the defense so far. -
Beane's construction of this roster
dgrochester55 replied to All I Need is Hope's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, he is bad. Not "should not be starting" bad, but, "should not be playing" bad. It is at the point that I would be see any free agent, waiver wire or practice squad player as a likely upgrade. If you came up with an all time bad Bills defense, I think that Klein would join the likes of Aaron Maybin, Justin Rogers and Chris Watson -

What team are you really a fan of? -
Seahawks-One of the tougher teams and too many weapons for the defense as it is now-Loss 6-3 Cardinals-Part of me sees Murray carving up the defense, but the Cardinals are a very hot and cold team I feel like we catch them on the right day Win 7-3 BYE Chargers-Herbert will make this tough, but I think that he makes enough mistakes to make this a win Win 8-3 49ers-I think that we either win this or Arizona, but not both. San Fran will be healthier and I could see us catching them on a hot streak Loss 8-4 Steelers- Another tough matchup which I feel will be closer than Seattle but still a loss Loss 8-5 Denver-A low scoring game which could be one of the few where Buffalo D looks dominant Win 9-5 New England-At this point, New England will be checked out and Buffalo will win without much trouble Win 10-5 Miami-Buffalo will have the division clinched while Miami is 8-7 and battling for the last playoff spot. Buffalo is likely resting their starters while Miami is going all out Loss 10-6

Miami is not winning the division
dgrochester55 replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not sleeping on Miami only because when you look at the rest of their schedule compared to ours, they have a surprisingly easy one. Buffalo has a 1 1/2 game lead on the dolphins with a win over them so it would take a bit for them to come back, but if Buffalo does not take one of the next two against two tough teams in Seattle and Arizona, then there is suddenly a chance that week 17 is for the division. -
Completely out coached again.

Yet we won. Even during the Kelly years (which to many of the younger fans might be nothing more than "those days of old before I was born"), not every game was the 1990 afc championship. There were a few games where they were awful against other bad teams and found a way to win in the end. This week, Tennessee lost to Cincinnati, the Rams lost to the dolphins, and even the Chiefs couldn't completely shake a winless Jets team until the middle of third quarter. The NFL is a tough league. This isn't madden or tecmo super bowl and every game is not going to be an easy win. 6-2 is 6-2 and with the schedule that we have this year, I am certain that most of us would have been thrilled to know that we would have this record halfway through the season. -
Postgame Thread Bills vs. Patriots
dgrochester55 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pats are not what they were and Buffalo has some flaws but there was one key thing that I noticed. There were a few plays such as Zimmer forcing Newton's fumble and Maketevich recovering the surprise on-sides that made enough difference to eek out the win. There were many close losses against the Pats over the last twenty years where the boards would speculate "If they only stopped them here, if they only made that first down, if they only etc... we would have won. This time, we were able to make those "if they only did this" plays and instead New England suffered the "billsy" loss. This is a team that dealt with a record playoff drought and a winning culture does not happen overnight. 6-2 despite many flaws is an accomplishment and I am hoping that moments like this can help the Bills get to the next level.
