  1. I would welcome him back despite the problems last time. Much of the previous holdout issues IMO was mainly due Ralph Wilson trying to low ball him. Peters despite his could probably start right away at either position and be an upgrade. Dawkins is out of shape and Spencer Brown is not getting it done. If this wasn't urgent before last night, it should be now.
  2. I am not making excuses, Buffalo was undisciplined, but the refs were flag happy to a point that I haven't seen since Brady was on the Pats. The worst to me was one play where Allen looked like he was going to escape a sack and make a throw and the ref threw a flag the second he broke free. Allen was eventually sacked and Mysteriously there was no penalty. It looked as if the ref was covering his bases in case the Bills got a first down and that there was an intent to keep Buffalo from driving. Still, even of only half of those 13 penalties in the first two quarters were legit, 6-7 penalties in a half is still inexcusable. Hopefully the Bills get it figured out by week 1.
  3. I was impressed with Gabe Davis. That is really about it though.
  4. Allen has made some good throws today, he can't help the play of the line or the calls of the ref.
  5. Buffalo is flat today, but I hope that this ref is not allowed anywhere near a Bills game this year. He clearly has a vendetta against them.
  6. Just because you didn't say that word for word does not mean that it wasn't implied or something that could be easily concluded. You inaccurately stated that Buffalo relied on discards from other teams when Shell was a free agent signing. You then indicated that it was an example of poor planning by saying "Does that not sound like mismanagement to you?". To me that sounds like you think that they should have known that he was going to suddenly retire before signing him. If that is not accurate, since we are not able read your mind, why don't you tell us what you meant by that and what you thunk Buffalo should have done differently given their cap limitations.
  7. Shell was a free agent, not a discard. How could we have known that he would suddenly decide to retire?
  8. I would like to say that it is too early to write off Kyle Allen, but as of now, he does not seem to be a fit. Based on what i have heard about happening in camp and seen in the game, I do not see him adjusting with less than a month. He was a logical choice in the offseason, but something people don't pan out. Barkley knows the system, has a head for the game and the team would rally behind him. This makes him a more attractive option to me than Kyle Allen. Unfortunately, with Barkley's limitations, I could see him having problems if he needed to start for more than a game or two. Buffalo should try to find a different veteran backup sooner rather than later for that reason.
  9. Alex Tanney. Known for trick throws on youtube and bounced around the league for years. Was with us for one preseason but never made it past the practice squad. I think that he actually ended up playing a little on the Giants. Gibran Hamdan- 3rd string QB during the drought era. Had an entertaining video series where he would interact with and informally interview teammates. I always thought that he had potential to be in journalism when he was done with football. Rick Schulte- Replacement lineman during the strike. Got stuck blocking Lawrence Taylor when he crossed the picket line. Was owned as expected but got his licks in on Taylor enough to piss him off a few times. I don't actually remember this as i was 10 years old, but it was a good story on an article years later.
  10. Titans? Because Ryan Tannehill and Malik Willis will get Hopkins much further than Allen or Mahomes would have.
  11. I liked Taylor when he was here and wished that they had kept him as a stopgap while transitioning to Allen. Taylor was actually decent when throwing to Watkins and woods. His 2015 season may have been the best for a QB in the drought era. A big part of his decline in my opinion was the WR group of 2017 which consisted of -A not Ready yet rookie in Zay Jones who has become decent now in Jacksonville, but had a record drop ratio in the first half of the season as a rookie -An overrated, uninspired Jordan Matthews who did want to be in Buffalo and made it clear with his effort -A journeyman in Deonte Thompson who led the way with a blazing 27 receptions and may have actually been the best in the bunch -Andre Holmes and Brandon Tate who were nothing more than special teams players -A trade for Kelvin Benjamin who also didn't want to be there and gained more pounds than he caught passes during his time here I really thought that he might stick around as a journeyman in the same way that Fitz did after Buffalo, but he could never catch a break. I appreciate Taylor for his time here, but am glad to have Allen now.
  12. Training camp signing. Slight chance that he is a backup with potential to thrive in the right opportunity like Poyer or Hughes, larger chance that he is watching opening day from his couch like most of us. That is what the preseason is for. You never know.
  13. A good draft in my opinion, but too early to call it an A and not the best one in the NFL. The first two picks were nailed with receiving help for Josh Allen in Kincaid and an instant upgrade of the interior line in Torrance. The latter part addressed position needs, but whether or not these people can contribute will remain to be seen. I do not think that Dorian Williams is a bad pick like many others do, but can understand the concern of others that we might have added another Terrell Bernard. Shorter is a complete boom or bust pick, but most likely needs a couple years of development before they add to the team. I don't know anything about Broeker and Austin, but no one in the 7th round is a reach(as some others were saying). They are competition for depth as late round picks are expected to be. After the draft, linebacker is the biggest question mark. Can Bernard or Williams replace the production of Edmunds? We won't know until the time comes. The offense is now significantly better which is what many of us wanted. That to me is a big success. There have been a lot of misses in the last three years, I am hoping that this trend changes with the draft. We will see what happens.
  14. I am glad that Miami has "chosen" that player instead of us. He will not do anything for them. Declining in productivity and seems to be a head case.
  15. Agreed, He was good but not at the tier of QB's like Montana and Elway. I think that the drought along with 20 years of bad to average at best quarterback play inflated the view of Kelly and made many of us view him through rose colored glasses. It is funny because I remember a significant portion of the fan base constantly complaining about how bad Kelly was and calling for him to be benched for Reich during his entire career.
  16. We are not as good as everyone thought in early 2022 or as bad as everyone thinks we are after the loss to the Bengals.
  17. I would have thought that Mariota would be perfect until I found out how he left the Falcons. I would go for Huntley or Trubisky. Ideally, the backup quarterback should have some mobility like Allen so that the offense can use their entire playbook.
  18. Quite a hot take here. I didn't know that we were limited to one free agent. Also we have cap issues to work though and free agency doesn't even officially start for two days. Other than that, spot on post.
  19. Rating the draft based on the players production in Buffalo, where they were picked and a little consideration for production after Buffalo 2017- A- Solid overall draft. White and Dawkins were quality starters and Milano was a flat out steal. Jones was a disappointment but rebounded well in Jacksonville, Peterman was bad too but not too many 5th round qb's are long term starters. Vallejo wasn't here long, but is still in the NFL. A very good draft with some key building blocks for Mcdermott 2018 A+ Allen is our Franchise QB. Edmunds never became the all pro that we expected but was still a solid starter for 5 seasons, Phillips is doing well in Minnesota after injuries limited him here. Taron Johnson is a reliable backup who makes big plays at key times, Teller is a pro bowl guard and it is too bad we could not hang on to him. Buffalo also added Levi Wallace who started for three years as a UDFA. McCloud is a backup on San Fran. Only Proehl is not currently in the NFL. Buffalo nailed this draft 2019 C Oliver has shown flashes and can start somewhere, but did not produce like a top ten pick should, Ford was a bust, Singletary is a decent committee back and not bad for a third round pick. Knox was a nice find, but can be inconsistent. Vosean Joseph Never panned out, Jaquan Johnson has a chance to prove himself when Hyde and Poyer got hurt and was a liability. Darryl Johnson and Sweeney have stuck around as backups, but will never be anything more. A clear step down from the first two drafts but still got some productive players. 2020 C (D- on the first two picks B on the later picks) Espeneza and Moss were not good picks at all considering their positions and that they were second and third round picks. Davis disappointed us as a #2 receiver this year, but has still had some great stretches in his career and was a good 4th round pick. Bass is one of the better kickers in the NFL and Dane Jackson is a good find for a 7th round pick. Hodgins never could crack a deep WR group here but found his niche on the Giants. Fromm did not really do anything good or bad, but had a catchy nickname and cool story of being an emergency COVID QB. 2021 D I haven't given up on Rousseau and still think that he could be a good player, Jury is out on that pick. Basham was one too many DE picks and did not produce nearly enough to be worth a draft spot that could have had so many other options in the 2nd round. I had hope for Spencer Brown, but is looking more like a backup and less like a starter. Hamlin was filling in decently for Hyde before the tragic injury. The rest of the draft did not yield anyone who will end up helping Buffalo. 2022 Incomplete. Elam is raw and could still come around. I feel like his lack of playing time was more due to Benford being good than him being bad. Cook did not produce nearly as much as other Rookie running backs, but that may be more the system than the player. Bernard had done nothing so far. One year is too early to write off a third rounder, but I don't see what they were thinking with this. Shakir has shown flashes and is worth a look in the next couple of years. Arazia would have been a find if he has not been part of the legal trouble. Benford is looking like steal. Tenuta if I remember correctly did not make the team. Too early to judge this year, but besides 2022, the drafts seem to have progressively gotten worse since 2018. Based on early McDermott years, they are capable of drafting well, but it is hard to maintain a playoff team when your recent picks are not providing adequate depth or replacements for cap casualties. The team need to go back to whatever they were doing in the early Mcdermott years.
  20. Some tweaks definitely need to be done and I personally think that they should have moved on from Frazier, but McDermott is consistently seen as a top five coach by the rest of the league. Has everyone forgotten so soon what it was like to have a new coach every two or three years? If every coach for fired for not making the super bowl, then there would be 30 job openings every year. Who are we going to replace McDermott with? How is there person guaranteed under a new system to get us to the super bowl in 2024? Is there a new inexperienced coach who is a guaranteed instant success? Would it have been worth paying a first rounder for Sean Payton who has been out of the game for years? Who is a better fit now that we can realistically get and why? Ditching a coach off of a 13 wins season is a huge move, justify it and provide us with who you think is a better replacement.
  21. At least Tyler Huntley will have the mobility to run and protect his flags from the defensive lineman who blow by Saffold. Should be the most exciting sporting event ever.
  22. Very simple, Buffalo did a great job of building a playoff team with a winning culture in the first three years of McDermott, but most of the draft picks and signings over the past three years have not done well enough to fill the void of those who left. Buffalo invested many of their draft picks into the defensive line and those picks resulted in a deep rotation of average people. The free agents brought in went from being players who fit the system to veterans who wanted to be mercenaries and get a quick cheap super bowl. There is talent (we went 13-3 after all) on this team, Buffalo just needs to make adjustments in how they have been deciding to add players and go back to what they were doing before.
  23. I hope that the Bengals win, but I also hope that Eli Apple gets burned for 4 td's and 300+ yds during the game.
  24. Benford was a steal and surpassed Elam, who was not a bust by any means. It was more about what Benford did than what Elam didn't do. The result, two corners who will be a big part of next year. Cook was not as productive as some of the other RB's drafted in this class but came on strong at the end of the year. I blame the system more for the lack of receptions than the player. He showed flashes and I would like to see what he can do with more opportunities. Bernard, looks like a bad pick so far, no way around that . Jury is out on Shakir, no one could have seen the allegations coming on Arazia, and 7th round picks don't always make the team let alone become major contributors on year one. It is true that the draft did not address some positions, we counted on veterans such as Crowder, OJ Howard and Saffold to do so, and they did not come through. If anything, the free agent signings in the offseason were the major misses. I am not trying to sugar coat the fact that there have been a lot of misses in the draft over the last 4 years, or say that this was great, but it is way too early to call the entire draft class a bust.
  25. I would have said Cincy a few days ago based on how they handled the Hamlin situation but the douchiness of the fans and some of the players (Eli Apple for example) reared it's ugly head this week after they won. Many of their fans are like a dorky junior high kid that suddenly gets popular, doesn't know how to handle the success and become insufferable to everyone around them after so that everyone cant stand them shortly after. Still would pull for them over the Chiefs, but not as much as before.
