  1. Agreed, He was good but not at the tier of QB's like Montana and Elway. I think that the drought along with 20 years of bad to average at best quarterback play inflated the view of Kelly and made many of us view him through rose colored glasses. It is funny because I remember a significant portion of the fan base constantly complaining about how bad Kelly was and calling for him to be benched for Reich during his entire career.
  2. We are not as good as everyone thought in early 2022 or as bad as everyone thinks we are after the loss to the Bengals.
  3. I would have thought that Mariota would be perfect until I found out how he left the Falcons. I would go for Huntley or Trubisky. Ideally, the backup quarterback should have some mobility like Allen so that the offense can use their entire playbook.
  4. Quite a hot take here. I didn't know that we were limited to one free agent. Also we have cap issues to work though and free agency doesn't even officially start for two days. Other than that, spot on post.
  5. Rating the draft based on the players production in Buffalo, where they were picked and a little consideration for production after Buffalo 2017- A- Solid overall draft. White and Dawkins were quality starters and Milano was a flat out steal. Jones was a disappointment but rebounded well in Jacksonville, Peterman was bad too but not too many 5th round qb's are long term starters. Vallejo wasn't here long, but is still in the NFL. A very good draft with some key building blocks for Mcdermott 2018 A+ Allen is our Franchise QB. Edmunds never became the all pro that we expected but was still a solid starter for 5 seasons, Phillips is doing well in Minnesota after injuries limited him here. Taron Johnson is a reliable backup who makes big plays at key times, Teller is a pro bowl guard and it is too bad we could not hang on to him. Buffalo also added Levi Wallace who started for three years as a UDFA. McCloud is a backup on San Fran. Only Proehl is not currently in the NFL. Buffalo nailed this draft 2019 C Oliver has shown flashes and can start somewhere, but did not produce like a top ten pick should, Ford was a bust, Singletary is a decent committee back and not bad for a third round pick. Knox was a nice find, but can be inconsistent. Vosean Joseph Never panned out, Jaquan Johnson has a chance to prove himself when Hyde and Poyer got hurt and was a liability. Darryl Johnson and Sweeney have stuck around as backups, but will never be anything more. A clear step down from the first two drafts but still got some productive players. 2020 C (D- on the first two picks B on the later picks) Espeneza and Moss were not good picks at all considering their positions and that they were second and third round picks. Davis disappointed us as a #2 receiver this year, but has still had some great stretches in his career and was a good 4th round pick. Bass is one of the better kickers in the NFL and Dane Jackson is a good find for a 7th round pick. Hodgins never could crack a deep WR group here but found his niche on the Giants. Fromm did not really do anything good or bad, but had a catchy nickname and cool story of being an emergency COVID QB. 2021 D I haven't given up on Rousseau and still think that he could be a good player, Jury is out on that pick. Basham was one too many DE picks and did not produce nearly enough to be worth a draft spot that could have had so many other options in the 2nd round. I had hope for Spencer Brown, but is looking more like a backup and less like a starter. Hamlin was filling in decently for Hyde before the tragic injury. The rest of the draft did not yield anyone who will end up helping Buffalo. 2022 Incomplete. Elam is raw and could still come around. I feel like his lack of playing time was more due to Benford being good than him being bad. Cook did not produce nearly as much as other Rookie running backs, but that may be more the system than the player. Bernard had done nothing so far. One year is too early to write off a third rounder, but I don't see what they were thinking with this. Shakir has shown flashes and is worth a look in the next couple of years. Arazia would have been a find if he has not been part of the legal trouble. Benford is looking like steal. Tenuta if I remember correctly did not make the team. Too early to judge this year, but besides 2022, the drafts seem to have progressively gotten worse since 2018. Based on early McDermott years, they are capable of drafting well, but it is hard to maintain a playoff team when your recent picks are not providing adequate depth or replacements for cap casualties. The team need to go back to whatever they were doing in the early Mcdermott years.
  6. Some tweaks definitely need to be done and I personally think that they should have moved on from Frazier, but McDermott is consistently seen as a top five coach by the rest of the league. Has everyone forgotten so soon what it was like to have a new coach every two or three years? If every coach for fired for not making the super bowl, then there would be 30 job openings every year. Who are we going to replace McDermott with? How is there person guaranteed under a new system to get us to the super bowl in 2024? Is there a new inexperienced coach who is a guaranteed instant success? Would it have been worth paying a first rounder for Sean Payton who has been out of the game for years? Who is a better fit now that we can realistically get and why? Ditching a coach off of a 13 wins season is a huge move, justify it and provide us with who you think is a better replacement.
  7. At least Tyler Huntley will have the mobility to run and protect his flags from the defensive lineman who blow by Saffold. Should be the most exciting sporting event ever.
  8. Very simple, Buffalo did a great job of building a playoff team with a winning culture in the first three years of McDermott, but most of the draft picks and signings over the past three years have not done well enough to fill the void of those who left. Buffalo invested many of their draft picks into the defensive line and those picks resulted in a deep rotation of average people. The free agents brought in went from being players who fit the system to veterans who wanted to be mercenaries and get a quick cheap super bowl. There is talent (we went 13-3 after all) on this team, Buffalo just needs to make adjustments in how they have been deciding to add players and go back to what they were doing before.
  9. I hope that the Bengals win, but I also hope that Eli Apple gets burned for 4 td's and 300+ yds during the game.
  10. Benford was a steal and surpassed Elam, who was not a bust by any means. It was more about what Benford did than what Elam didn't do. The result, two corners who will be a big part of next year. Cook was not as productive as some of the other RB's drafted in this class but came on strong at the end of the year. I blame the system more for the lack of receptions than the player. He showed flashes and I would like to see what he can do with more opportunities. Bernard, looks like a bad pick so far, no way around that . Jury is out on Shakir, no one could have seen the allegations coming on Arazia, and 7th round picks don't always make the team let alone become major contributors on year one. It is true that the draft did not address some positions, we counted on veterans such as Crowder, OJ Howard and Saffold to do so, and they did not come through. If anything, the free agent signings in the offseason were the major misses. I am not trying to sugar coat the fact that there have been a lot of misses in the draft over the last 4 years, or say that this was great, but it is way too early to call the entire draft class a bust.
  11. I would have said Cincy a few days ago based on how they handled the Hamlin situation but the douchiness of the fans and some of the players (Eli Apple for example) reared it's ugly head this week after they won. Many of their fans are like a dorky junior high kid that suddenly gets popular, doesn't know how to handle the success and become insufferable to everyone around them after so that everyone cant stand them shortly after. Still would pull for them over the Chiefs, but not as much as before.
  12. I was there from about 2005 to the end. I was not a major character there, but did post more than I do here. BBMB was great in its heyday, but was going downhill fast over the last year as many long time quality posters were getting banned for no reason while a few trolls were allowed to run rampant and post the same junk every day. This board is much better for knowledgeable posters, but BBMB was definitely more entertaining at times.
  13. Just Frazier, too much invested in the defense to put up what they did yesterday. You might be able to get away with waiting for the other team to mess up against Davis Mills or Zach Wilson, but not against Burrow or Mahomes. I understand that the top tier of quarterbacks are going to move the ball against anyone, but there were times in the first half where watching the defense was like watch Ohio State or Georgia's offense against a sub 500 fcs team. 27 points on paper doesn't look that bad, but it does not tell the story. If the Bills offense had kept up pace early in the game and scored more points, Cincinnati could have easily scored 50 on us. Not acceptable. I am concerned about Dorsey too but it doesn't not help when each and every person brought in or expected to step up and fill a void did not come through( Crowder, Cook, OJ Howard, Duke Johnson etc) . One more year with the right personnel to see what he can do. Not ready to get rid of McDermott yet, because as the playoff drought proved, we can do so much worse.
  14. I am an Orioles fan for baseball and the direction that these Bills are going remind me a lot of the Orioles between 2012 and 2018. Both did a great job changing the culture of a long time losing team and added a core group of players that quickly turned them into a playoff caliber team. For the Orioles, the downfall was not having a good farm team or signing the right people to address weaknesses. When the good players lost a step or moved on, they were not properly replaced and the bottom fell out fast. I am worried about the Bills going in the same direction. When you look at the last three years, most of the players drafted or signed are not getting it done. Defensive line is where this stands out most. You cant spend a ton of money and high round draft capital on a defensive line and only end up with a deep rotation of average players. Nobody properly filled the voids of Brown and Beasley at WR so we signed the actual Brown and Beasley back despite them being past their primes. The line outside of Dawkins and Morse is a revolving door despite constantly adding veterans and drafting one or two per year. If Buffalo is going to stay on the top tier of the AFC and not regress, it starts with signing and drafting better players and finding out what changed in our talent evaluation to make it worse.
  15. I would like to keep Dane Jackson, Edmunds for the right price and Poyer if healthy. Everyone else on that list is replacable in my opinion,
  16. I would be willing to give Dorsey another year. The offense had a plan to improve from last year. Unfortunately, the players added to help change the direction did not work out. Crowder was a non factor and got hurt for the year, OJ Howard was a preseason cut, Duke Johnson never really got out of the practice squad, Cook was out produced by many other drafted running backs on different teams and Davis was not consistent enough to be a proven #2. We need to have people that better fit Dorsey's offense next year.
  17. The 2017 and 2018 draft were good, but the four years after that leave a lot to be desired. The mid to late rd picks from 2019-22 have found a few gems, but the picks in the top 2 rounds have been mediocre to bad.
  18. No offensive line support, Receivers outside of Diggs underachieving, Defense putting us in a hole before the team could get started. This is not all on Allen. Allen needs to play less hero ball next year, but Buffalo also needs to give him some help.
  19. Fair enough. Maybe sign some instead, but either way, this group needs an overhaul.
  20. Keep Von Miller, Daquan Jones and Give Rousseau another year. The rest of the defensive line is expendable and it is time for some new blood. This draft should be invested in both lines.
  21. I have to disagree. True, there is an initial intense heartbreak, but at least after that, you could have hope that they are close. This is bad enough to make you question whether that the ship has sailed with this group and whether or not an overhaul is needed.
  22. I know that Buffalo had a lot of adversity this year and that Cincinnati is a tough team, but there is no excuse for coming into a home playoff game this unprepared.
  23. If you are going to invest so much on a defensive line in a five year period, they should at least be able to show more than what four random practice squad players would probably do.
  24. In all fairness, Case Keenum could have scored 30+ on this Bills defense. Defense made it way too easy for Cincinnati today.
  25. Buffalo is the new Houston Oilers, always a playoff team never a Super Bowl contender.
