Since every media outlet will only tell you their reason why they think it is good or bad. Here is a link to the actual house version of the bill for those who are interested. I plan to reserve judgment until I have read the final version. https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1/text

The funny thing about national injunctions is that Dems in 2022 and 2023 including Harris and some of the justices found it important to reduce or ban national injunctions when Texas judges were doing the same thing against Biden. In all fairness, I am sure than many conservatives were fine with the process back then. Realistically, we can all admit that if the Supreme court had made this ruling two years ago, that the party reactions would have been opposite. With that in mind, I think that it is a fair ruling and would have also thought it back then. The ruling went beyond partisan. This loophole was always there, but was now being weaponized. This was a power that was starting to be abused by both sides over the last few years and was way getting out of hand in this term. It would have only gotten worse for Trump and even more so for the next President, regardless of party. The ability to start the process of a class action ruling gives state judges the power to fight what they perceive as unfair, but requires a little more support so that it is not the same few extreme people (for either party) having the power to slow the progress of a President down at will and using it frivolously. The decision yesterday was good for the country as a whole and gets rid of an disproportionate power balance while replacing it with a more reasonable solution.

Politics aside, this ruling is logical. I am not sure how it makes sense for someone at a lower level to be able to have enough power to universally override the higher-ups ruling at will if they do not like it. We can't do that to our managers and supervisors at work and Josh Allen couldn't override Beane and McDermott on a free agent signing after it has been done. They should still have a complaint or appeal process, but now it is more balanced so that judges on either side can't use frivolous stall tactics in the name of partisan politics..

UPDATE: ISRAEL v IRAN - Ceasefire reached?
dgrochester55 replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This is a very fair stance. As much as I despised Biden, I would have given him along with our military full credit if he had accomplished a successful mission like this. The safety of our country is a higher priority than anyone in office and if it turns out Iran was actually close to using a nuke on Israel (I understand that this is a big if), then this was a heroic effort and decision. -
The ultimate way of proving this "100% opposite of Orange man no matter what" mentality will be if RFK Jr. and Trump but a ban on pharmaceutical ads on TV. The sudden emergence of millions who find those commercials entertaining and informative will come out in droves even though i have yet to hear one person from any political party ever be pro Big Pharma ads on TV as of today.

UPDATE: ISRAEL v IRAN - Ceasefire reached?
dgrochester55 replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Trump: We wiped out all nuclear sites The UN: Stating that Trump was successful in this operation, while using an analogy of a father breaking up a fight (which the media of course took out of context by pretending that analogies and metaphors don't exist) to demonstrate how successful they thought it was. Us Intel: Severe damage was done in Iran, but we do not know how much yet Most People: This was a good thing, we did not need Iran as a nuclear threat Many democrats: We still don't like Trump, but I am glad this happened, this individual attack was a success.. CNN, and NYT: Well technically he didnt do anything because we don't know if it is mostly or completely gone, and the Iranian leader said that no damage was done, so we will take his word for it and assume that Trump failed. This is yet another out of thousands of reasons why no one should see mainstream media as having any credibility anymore. They aren't just slanted towards a side anymore, they are so against one person and consumed by it, that they put themselves in a position of defending and rooting for an enemy country and taking the word of their leader over ours. -

Since there is not one positive thing going on in the Democrat party and no clear direction, this is the of rhetoric that the progressive/extreme left side is now reduced to. Their true colors are coming out. This is more like who they really are. -

If admitting that Trump did something right is more painful to you than a potential nuclear strike, then you might have TDS. -

If you want to separate the liberals who think for themselves and form their own opinions from the TDS people who let the politicians and media behind that movement do the thinking for them, the reaction to this ceasefire should determine that. If admitting that Trump made a good move is more painful than a potential nuclear war, then it is TDS. No one in their right mind should think that avoiding a possible nuclear war and a ceasefire between two nations that could have done a lot of damage to each other is a bad thing. -

Not sure what to think yet. If they truly stopped Iran from having a nuclear weapon, I am 100% behind it. If it is another instance of WMD like 2003, Trump is cooked. I will see what happens over the next few days before reserving judgment. -
Minnesota lawmaker assassinated another shot.

The murder of two politicians, the burning of elderly people with a flamethrower and the assassination of two embassy members happened in the past month and all you have is "but but but JaNuArY 6tH"? Keep the tone deaf, out of touch, clueless posts coming. -

People on the left have to do an honest evaluation of their party and goals and ask themselves why this is happening. Its one thing to go behind the keyboard and play the role of a troll, but things like this are happening almost once a week now. It is also time for all of the media to take a long look at how they are delivering news and acknowledge the potential impact that it is having on viewers in a post COVID society where mental health issues are widespread in every area and demographic. -

This happened quickly because unlike most people on the far left, Trump and Musk have the ability to get over things and move on. -
Los Angeles under military attack

Great until NbcNews and CNN take one photo of it and then plaster 'MAGA insurrection" on the headlines for two weeks. Actually, never mind. They would probably find an excuse do that anyway. -

In some cases like Tibs, Doc and Roundy I feel like they are actual people being true to their thoughts, but Homelander is a pure troll with no other intention besides that. -

Today, I just learned that intervening when foreigners who shouldn't have been here in the first place after their protests are overwhelming local police is "fascism". Par for the course when it comes to the TBD TDS squad. Things like this and last week's attacks are campaigning for the Republican side in 2026 better than anything that they could say. No one wants that chaos no matter how much the media tries to change the narrative. Keep em coming guys. Edit: I assume that Homelander's laugh is due to the absurdity of the takes on the left. I agree. -
Trump/Elon Breakup Fallout
dgrochester55 replied to Roundybout's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I do not feel a particular loyalty or disdain to either. Both made many irrational threats, but the one that I referenced would put astronauts in jeopardy. TSLA is not a core stock in my portfolio, but I occasionally buy and sell it strategically, this doesn't change that, and neither did his alliance with Trump (besides buying a little before November anticipating a spike from a Trump win). I would not buy any electric car until the range, battery life and long term value get better. I would never vandalize anyone's cars for any reason, but even more so for political ones. Overall, this does not worry me that much yet, they are two hotheads feuding and will probably patch up as quickly as they started the feud. -

If he just puts a VS. at the bottom of the heart, it remains current, and prevents a painful removal process. Note: I know that this is satire -

I see Musk the same as I did before, Brilliant, innovative, key to Trumps's election, but also a self-absorbed narcissist like most ultra rich billionaires have to be to get to that level. Him and Trumps goals aligned for months, but I always knew that he had his own agenda and goals in mind. I don't mean that in a discrediting way, just that it was naive to assume differently and it is not Musk's fault if others did. As far as the tiff, both acted childish yesterday, but Musk crossed a line by threatening to remove SpaceX which could jeopardize astronauts. If any lefties whether politicians, celebrities or regular people suddenly love Musk after six months of acting like he is the worst threat on the planet, it is concrete proof that their opinion is solely dictated by the media and/or TDS. I must say that I have not seen much of that here in the last few pages and I am pleasantly surprised. -
I didn't bother to read it. You are trying to justify attacking elderly people in another continent with a flamethrower, that is sick and evil. I do not need to debate with or acknowledge extremists. Palestine wrote a check that their body couldn't cash in 2023 and got exactly what they deserved. Palestine is dead wrong, and the world will be better when they cease to exist as a nation. full stop. Maybe after that, the innocent civilians there can live a stable life where they do not have to worry about their own government holding them hostage as expendable leverage at strategic battle sites every time someone fights back after the terrorist attacks that Palestine always starts. The rest of us are sick of the crap. I will never compromise with terrorism. Block me if you don't like that. Have the day that you deserve.
