I actually just had a realization, based on what I was saying in the Watson/Dorsey thread: Unless DJ is doing some heinous off the field stuff, his football play should only be thrown at him when he’s playing football. I said if I got $230m I’d sign the paper even if it meant people would talk crap about me, but I’d also be pretty annoyed if I had to deal with it in my face when I’m just trying to get home. (I do hope he got in his super car and flipped the bird to the “fans” when driving home to his mansion, as I said I would have done in that thread) Watson on the other hand is a villain OFF the field and deserves to be reminded of it. Screw that guy.

I get that it comes with the territory to a point, but for the love of God leave the dude alone. Boo him on the field when he plays bad, sure, but he has the right to be human. If we had thousands of people taking the piss out of us any time we made a mistake it would take a toll after a while. Doesn’t matter how much he’s paid (though I’m sure it helps) but when he isn’t working he shouldn’t have to deal with mouth breathers yelling at him. I’m sure he’s done some good things off the field and people need to remember that as well as the things he does for 60 mins on Sundays. …sorry, not sure why I ranted there but this is crossing a line in my eyes.

For most people, yes. But most people didn’t get $230 million dollars to help forget what people say or think. If someone came up to me right now and said “Here’s $230 million, all guaranteed, but people are going to talk crap about you.” I’d sign the paper. Who cares what people think? I now have enough money to live comfortably forever and never even need to concern myself with that crap. His reputation was already ruined in the public eye. Even if he wins people will hate him. Might as well get paid and flip the world the bird when you head home in your super car to your mansion and sleep on your piles of money.

I mean, Coleman was our leading WR today. Kincaid was getting meaningful snaps early on. Benford as a rookie was an early contributor until he was injured. Torrence literally played 100% of the snaps last year as a rookie and as a starter. Early on in his tenure McD was a bit reluctant to let the rooks get out there and play but the last few years has seen them much more involved

I think if/when we go to an 18 game schedule we will be adding to the start of the league year, not the end. It seems to make sense to kick off on a 3 day weekend but with many people getting in their last vacation of the year they may be concerned viewership would be lower as a result

Sure, but some players have the benefit of their draft stock giving them an added edge at roster cutdowns. If you invested a pick, you may be more likely to keep that player vs a guy who signed off the street.

…you say as you complain about it on the internet 🫣 He went out there and made an NFL roster, something neither of us will ever do. At the end of the day that’s impressive as hell, especially for a UDFA.

But it’s a good story about a local kid earning every snap of his career. UDFA kid got a shot and took advantage of his opportunity. Even if his career is short lived, he can say he made it. It’s worth rooting for.
