Given the 3 year rule. Analyzing the Bills 2020 draft..
KingBoots8 replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
To those saying you can’t count Diggs because he wasn’t a draft pick: I disagree - we spent draft capital on a veteran WR and it was a calculated risk to go that route and pay a larger contract vs risking for a rookie who may/may not be equivalent. Again, no guarantee JJ was going to be there for us has we held still, and Diggs veteran presence was also worth more to Josh than a rookie who was going to have to learn on the fly. That being said, here’s my grading: Diggs : Said it all above. A+ move getting a known star in Stef. Draft capital was appropriate for the player, and he’s been one of the best in the league since getting here. AJE : C- / D+ : it’s not that he is bad, but he was drafted too early for the amount we use him. I personally err more on the C- camp, but the argument can be made. It also seemed like the team immediately thought they needed more help at the D-line and sought to upgrade the next draft. Maybe it was his size and he couldn’t add appropriately, but regardless this pick was a miss. Moss : C- : his first year pre-injury he appeared to be as good/better than Singletary. He got hurt in the playoffs (ironically vs the Colts). He had 481 / 4td rushing, and 14 catches for 95 yards and another TD year one as a backup. Decent numbers for a #2. I don’t think he came back the same post-injury, and I don’t think a backup RB should be your pick in the 3rd round. If he was drafted to take over for Singletary as the starter, it’s an even worse pick. Davis : B+. He’s been a great 4th round pick for us, and that can’t be understated. I know he had drop issues this year, but his first two he was fantastic, especially in the post-season. He was making ridiculous sideline catches in 2020. 2021 was the clinic vs KC. 2022 he was a vital piece vs Miami. He was 15th in TD’s this year, and his yards were still 836 (granted, 98 came on one play). That’s low #2 / high #3 numbers. Getting that production in the 4th is a great find. Let’s not use this one year (his first as #2 and first with Dorsey) to crucify him. He needs to be better, but he is not terrible by any metric for when he was drafted. Fromm : D. I like taking a later flyer on a decent QB. Fromm just wasn’t that guy. I think if we wanted a QB we should have waited but you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take I guess. Bass : A+. He’s easily a top-10 kicker, well worth the draft capital in the 6th, and minus his first 2 games (when everyone was panicking) he has been solid. Makes nearly every kick he’s supposed to, and when he misses it’s rare and usually understandable why he didn’t. Stud. Hodgins : C-. This is harder to be fair on because he was hurt all of year one, year 2 we were loaded at WR and couldn’t fairly evaluate him, and year 3 we mismanaged that situation and he wound up signing with Daboll and the Giants who were all but depleted at the position and needed someone familiar with the system. He wound up taking advantage of his opportunity and has at least some role over there. I would say he was a good pick in the 6th if we had a real opportunity to test him, but it is what it is. Jackson : B+A player in the 7th making significant contributions to the team, especially after our best player went down in 2021 is significant. He is a great contributor to the team and had zero expectations to even make the team at his pick. I’d push it and say he is A- given how he has done with all that was asked of him, but I’d reserve that for if he was a game-changer. He’s very good, especially for a 7th round guy. Overall I’d say the draft is a B… MAYBE B+ at most. Significant starters still on the team, but the day 2 picks were not strong enough contributors to make this an amazing draft. It’s good, maybe very good, but that’s the truth of the matter. -

I agree JJ is obviously amazing but we had no way of knowing he would be there at 24. Honestly the Eagles SHOULD have taken him, and maybe the likelihood of JJ being gone was part of the decision to get Diggs. Honestly that’s what Josh needed - it may be one of the most balanced trades in NFL history. JJ gets a QB with some experience to bring him into the league nicely, Josh gets a WR who knows the game and will be a good mentor and reliable anchor for a 2nd year QB. the first on Diggs got you a guaranteed baller, as opposed to the chance at a guy who had a chance (though likely) to be great. -
Frank Reich named new Head Coach of Panthers
KingBoots8 replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Frank had top-10 offenses for many of his years with recycled QBs: Year. Rank. PPG. 2018 – 5th – 27.1 (Luck) 2019 – 16th – 22.6 (Brissett) 2020 – 9th – 28.2 (Rivers) 2021 – 9th – 26.5 (Wentz) 2022 – 30th – 16.1 (Ryan) he did a decent amount with admittedly very little at QB. Hopefully he can get his guy and find some success down there -
Old Buffalo Bills Message Board

I remember this person but not which board it happened on. Didn’t he always have a signature like “Peace and Love everybody ✌️” at the end of his posts? -

Wasn’t he one of the guys who would post something and then immediately log into the other account to agree with himself? I feel like there were a couple cases of that, but one or two were pretty infamous 😂 -
Let’s take a look at the stats between the current playoff teams and the Bills Philly: AJ Brown - 11. 1,496 yds Devonta Smith - 7. 1,196 yds Dallas Goedert (TE) - 3. 702 yds Quez Watkins - 3. 354 yds Totals: 24 TDs. 3,748 yds Cincy: Ja’mar Chase - 9. 1,046 yds (12 games) Tee Higgins - 7. 1,029 yds Tyler Boyd - 5. 762 yds Joe Mixon (RB) - 2. 441 yds Totals: 23 TDs. 3,278 yds **Hayden Hurst (TE) - very similar stat-wise this regular season to Mixon, in yards and receiving TDs- 414 yds, 2td. SanFran: Deebo Samuel - 2. (13 games) 632 yds George Kittle (TE) - 11. 765 yds Brandon Aiyuk - 8. 1,015 yds CMC (RB) - 4. (11 games). 464 yds Totals: 25 TDs. 2,876 yds Kansas City Travis Kelce (TE) - 12. 1,338 yds Juju Smith-Schuster - 3. 933 yds Marquez Valdez-Scantling - 2. 687 yds Jerrick McKinnon - 9. 512 yds Totals: 26 TDs 3,470 yds how about us? Buffalo Stefon Diggs - 11. 1,429 yds Gabe Davis - 7. 836 yds Dawson Knox (TE) - 6. 517 yds Isaiah McKenzie - 4. 423 yds Totals: 28 TDs. 3,205 yds Statistically, our guys can put points on the board, but we only beat a run-first team on their 3rd QB from the playoff teams in yards. Our stats are impressive considering I would say we have the worst line of the 5 teams compared here. Addressing the O-line has to be priority #1, but look at a team like Cincy- they have 2 1,000 yard receivers, and Chase would be much higher if he didn’t go down for 5 weeks. In his absence Higgins and Boyd did an admirable job filling in. Imagine if Stef missed any time… we would be absolutely screwed without high-caliber depth. Gabe statistically lines up between a 2 and a 3, and while I think he is capable of becoming a 2 he isn’t there yet. Knox had a lot to overcome the first half of the year and got much better after week 10. McKenzie has the ability to make big plays but I don’t think was schemed appropriately. That being said, there’s no way if Diggs ever got hurt we could fully rely on him to become WR2 and put up comparable stats. We need to address WR2. Every year we need to draft one (not always at the top of the draft, mind you). We need guys who are versatile and can fill in when the poo hits the fan, otherwise we would just be Green Bay this year. Again, I agree O-line and better scheming will help, but we need a true WR2, and we need to get younger.

Old Buffalo Bills Message Board

I’ve liked it here since BBMB went down. Sure you have the reactionary crowd on gameday but nearly all of my interactions have been pleasant. I think I joined the day it closed down or very shortly after. I can’t remember when I joined the BBMB but safe to say I was either in my late teens or early 20’s so hopefully people don’t remember me from there (I probably said some dumb stuff from time to time 🤣) -

The best part of SaviorEdwards was the fact that any other QB would get a “Savior” user who would do the exact same thing. Their profile pic was always an image of Jesus with the head replace to whichever QB was being posted. SaviorTuel might have been the best, shortest lived variant 😂 -
Ok. Here’s the plan: 1. We find a replacement for Defensive coordinator. We play too soft with too much on the line, and we have over-invested on this side of the ball to not attack the qb. Steve Wilks makes sense here, as well as Flores (who doesn’t commit fully to a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme). Fangio runs a very different defense, so he may not be the best answer. 2. Bring Dorsey back, but put him on a leash. I know this may be unpopular but we did some great things this year, his first as the OC. Daboll needed a year to get acclimated to our players and got things moving pretty well in year two. I’d give him an opportunity to do his thing, but to assist him (or replace him if needed…) 3. Promote Joe Brady to Offensive Specialist, or bring in Frank Reich. These are experienced OC’s/Coaches who can likely help Dorsey take advantage of our players. Giving Joe a bigger role may keep him around, as well as Reich who ran a great offense in Indy even after losing Luck. They can certainly find roles on this team, and be ready to step in should Dorsey get hired elsewhere or be shown the door. 4. Prioritizing the O-Line is the mission for the off-season. Draft needs to be a slam dunk for this to happen. Every position is on the table here (with Guard and Center being the biggest needs) So round one we should be looking at BPA at one of those positions. We should likely be drafting at minimum 2 players in the first 4 rounds for the OL. 5. We need another playmaker at WR. Like the Eagles and Bengals, they currently find themselves with many great players T receiver. It will be crucial to add to our weapons. Diggs plays outside and the slot on rotation, with Davis and our shiny new WR2 outside. Shakir should be given the opportunity at WR4, with McKenzie back for his last year of his contract at 5/gadget. Beasley still has some wheels and appears to have made amends with the staff after the fallout, so we bring him back as well to fill in the 4/5 role. WR is the focus for round 2 of the draft, provided someone generational isn’t sitting there at 27 - which I don’t know that I see with this draft class. 6. We make some difficult decisions at some long-held positions. Good rotational D-linemen are fine, but we have a few too many. I’d like to keep Oliver if possible but am not opposed to getting picks if the price is right. Epenesa can go, and Basham is whatever. We likely can retain Jordan Phillips and Shaq Lawson for cheap, so I offer them contracts. Poyer is too rich for our blood and is most likely going to be paid out of our range. Edmunds is also going to be a challenge, and one I’m not sure I am sold on long-term. He had a much better year but was softer than baby poo in the playoffs. Was that scheme or regression? 7. Day 3 Draft Picks and FA Strategy. Safety is going to need some attention in later rounds (thinking 5th) and anything later is just depth. I still say we go BPA when we can, but if we have to pass on a great guy who would be 3rd on the depth chart vs a good Safety who might see some significant time, you need to consider your options. We need quality FA’s that won’t break the bank, and that means we either kick the can a little bit or make sure we have easy outs in 2024 or 2025. 8. Restructure when we can, but only when needed. Plenty of options to work with here, so no plan until needed. Plenty of guys who would be willing to make some moves for us.

This is a nothingburger. He’s venting, he wants to do better, and he is frustrated they didn’t show up. He’s human.

I don’t understand this philosophy. Payton won only one SB with arguably one of the GOATS at QB in Brees. He’s under contract with another team, and trading a premium pick does not help fill the roster. He’s a good coach, maybe even great, but let’s keep some perspective here.

Pederson for COTY if he gets the Jags to the AFCCG? It could be either him or Daboll if he gets to the NFCCG
-
I don’t wish injuries on anyone, but the aggressiveness Collinsworth fellates him might make him at least a bit sore

I’d say 95% of my interactions with Bengals fans have been good to great. Most of their fans are where we were in 2019-2020: finally able to get excited for football and having runs in the postseason. The there’s 5% who are just jerks or talk trash about whatever they can. It’s no different here- we may have more than 5% of our posters who spout off some really dumb stuff. I wouldn’t blame them for their opinions if they got them from reading some of our gameday posts 😂

Run, run, pass, punt.

I think the Giants are scrappier for sure, but they’ve got their work cut out for them to make a deep run. I wish them the best, but if they get to the dance they’re not getting a repeat of SB25.

Giants playing with passion today. Daboll has done a great job over there. I would be honored to avenge SB25 against him. also: HODGINS WITH A TD! Good for him!
