Back when this was a hot topic a few years ago I came up with, what I thought, was a fair and highly competitive way to do OT. Basically, each team gets at least 1 possession (with an exception I will highlight), and has to outscore their opponent following their possession. Here was my breakdown: 1. If the receiving team has to punt or has a fumble/interception, the other team only needs to kick a FG to win. Team A had 0 points, team B only needs 3. 2. if the receiving team kicks a FG, the other team must put up more points on their possession. They must score a TD to win (no extra point needed). Team A has 3 points, team B needs at least 6 from a TD. 3. If the receiving team gets the TD but misses the extra point or 2-point conversion, the other team needs a TD and extra point to win. Team A has 6 points, team B needs at least 7. 4. If the receiving team gets a TD and the extra point, the other team must get a TD and 2 point conversion to win. Team A has 7 points, team B needs 8. The game ends immediately if one of the following happens: a. The receiving team gets a TD and makes a 2 point conversion - this can't be topped as far as points are concerned, so the other team will not get a possession. b. The receiving team gives up a safety or pick-6. They had their possession and the opposing Defense scored. No need for the other team offense to take the field. I know it’s not perfect, but it seems like fun and even more exciting to watch with the stakes a bit higher.

WR or Dlineman? What would be your main priority..
KingBoots8 replied to BillMafia716ix's topic in The Stadium Wall
As much as I love the conversation, it’s too early to tell. Combine, interviews, and Pro Days are necessary to properly get a feel for whoever is on your big board. I’d love to say WR for sure, but it really depends who is left, who falls, and what we can see down the road. All that being said, here I go with my way-too-early thoughts: In these early stages leading up to the draft, I have started to like Brian Thomas Jr and Troy Franklin as possible WR options for us that could realistically be available. I think they have a good combo of size, speed, and playmaking ability, and if one of them is there I would feel good at this stage about drafting them. …if WR prospects start coming off the board fast and furious, and we can’t wiggle our way up in the draft, we have a decision to make: do we take a lesser prospect WR earlier than intended (I say no), do we draft for a different position of need (probably), or can we trade back a little bit, get some decent compensation, and get a few secondary talents who can probably be good with a little coaching and practice? (I say maybe, depends on compensation and who is left out there) -
Could do a lot better, could do a bit worse. i think we have enough playmakers to survive a game or two. If we had to rely on a backup for significant time the season is over and we could use the better pick in the draft. I can live with one season of suck if it meant getting talent that would be much more valuable on rookie deals. I hope we don’t ever have to, but that’s the truth of the matter

He’s great at letting the teams I despise win championships. I have no clue why he can’t win in the big one - probably hubris. Kick the ball in OT. Run the ball when your OPOY is on your team. This is a Seattle vs NE level meltdown in my opinion, not Atlanta vs. NE. He tried being clever rather than being efficient in a game where he just needed to hold on and let his offense do what they do best.

CMC should have won. That being said, Josh should have won if a QB had to win it. Either way, the only votes I agreed on all night were CJ Stroud getting OROY and Tom Grossi winning Fan of the Year.

Boy howdy do I hope he makes his best edge player drop back into coverage like he did with Mario Williams lol -
I am for trading back if possible, but I feel like the 3 WR we would likely be interested in (Thomas, Franklin, and Coleman) would not last beyond 35 at this point. Chiefs, Pats, and Arizona could all use some WR help and Carolina could benefit from another weapon for Bryce too. i think if any of these 3 are “the guy” we sit tight at 28 and don’t risk it (I even see moving up as a possibility to make sure we get our guy like we did with DK last year). If those 3 are gone then trade back, get Legette in the mid 30’s, and use the remaining capital to move around and help get whomever else we can. We have too many holes and not enough money to ship all our picks away, but if we get at least 5 quality picks (starter and backups) we walk from this draft happy. We absolutely need at least 1 WR, DT, and S. We should also try to get a LB and DE. After that? OC and double up on either DT or WR. Not necessarily saying to draft in that order (if a good WR falls to Rd 3 you go get him) but those should be priority.

… if “painful memories” was a category. i got all of these in like 2 seconds. My heart hurts again.

I’m pretty firmly on the Thomas/Franklin train as realistic options near 28. Would be willing to move a few spots forward or backward if they are there. I would love to move back a few spots but if either of those guys are there at 28 you run to that podium.

Mitch Morse and Eric Wood. Centered On Buffalo.
KingBoots8 replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
I doubt SVP lasts that long but if he’s there he is very hard to pass up. My only counter argument is that Center is a *future* need, and we have a lot of needs in the here-and-now to address. I put our needs in order of priority as follows: WR, DT, S, CB, LB, OC, OT Now, as you said, if a guy who could be a potential anchor for 10+ years is sitting there it’s hard to overlook that, but I don’t think we will find a player of that caliber falling that far. -

Thinking of you today Scott. I can’t offer any words that will be of help during this time, but if I have learned anything about this community is that we hold each other up when it matters. Bills Mafia will do our part to keep her memory alive, and we are here if you need anything. You’ll find each other again somewhere in time.

I liked Rice too in the 2-3 round range. Decent size and weight, plus his SMU jersey made it very easy to see him as a Bill lol. KC made a good trade admittedly. Still has some growing to do but for a rookie he played very well. If we get a guy like that at 28 this year we would consider that a win for sure

Big win. Guess it can’t be that bad under McD since two in-demand coordinators opted to stay instead of leave. That doesn’t absolve McD of his shortcomings, but a few people who were super supportive of Daboll might realize that perhaps he was likely the catalyst for some of the coaching drama a few years back.

Because he missed that kick, obviously 🙄 😂

I agree with this, and had a thought as to how to view this mathematically. Let’s say we use a “point system” where every TD is worth 6 and INTs are worth -6. I know it’s grossly exaggerated, but give me a moment to elaborate the value here: Lamar had 28 TDs, and that would be +168 points gained, with 13 T/O’s equaling -78. A net gain of +90. Allen had 44 TDs, good for +264, and 22 T/O’s for -132, which gives a +132 for JA17. Stroud had 23 TDs +138 and 9 T/O’s, for a gain for +84. Purdy: 31 TDs, +186, T/O’s 13 is -78 for a gain of +108 So, this obviously only works for QB’s, but JA blew the others out of the water for how much he contributed points-wise vs the others. Yeah, turnovers suck, but this should show how much value he had at his position and how important he was to winning those games. I’m not saying Josh should win it, but I’m saying the Turnover argument is not strong in my opinion if you’re the one scoring so many of the points

I mean, would you prefer “Song 2” by Blur? Its possibly the one song played universally at sporting events more than 7NA, but that’s more of a “Soccer Football” thing than a “Gridiron Football” thing.

So will you be watching the Super Bowl this year or no?

Which QB do you want to win the Super Bowl?
KingBoots8 replied to Joe Ferguson's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Lions are the only team I am ok winning a SB before the Bills out of all the teams who have not won it yet. That fan base deserves good things, and the only way I wouldn’t root for them is if they were playing us. …after that? 49ers, Ravens, Chiefs. -

KingBoots8 replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have a standing agreement at work that if/when the Bills make the Super Bowl that I am to have off the following week regardless of the outcome. I would be insufferable if they lost, but if we win? WHEN we win? I will be watching the game in Buffalo so I can start the sobbing/celebrating immediately (I live a few hours away). I’ll find a way to the airport to welcome the team home. I will be at the parade, and will just be drunk from the feeling of FINALLY getting that elusive championship. My feeling is this: we might win multiple championships at some point, but there will never be another first. I intend to be there, because anything that comes after will just be a welcome extra, and will not have the same meaning or significance as the first. -
Selfishly I would want Hyde back for one last run, just because I want the guy to get a ring, but given his injury history and his age I feel like it’s best for him to ride into the sunset. If he wants to come back as a position coach I would hire him tomorrow - whoever his heir apparent is would benefit from picking his brain for sure.
