He could take that kind of contract because we are still going to have to pay him $3 million this season. So, he gets $7 total if he plays the whole season with the Chiefs.

Of course that's the goal. You are confusing fan/media expectations with a team's goal. No team goes into the season thinking they can't win the SB, nor works to that. It isn't like McDermott makes the playoffs and says, "Well, good enough" On to next year and doesn't try in each playoff game.

This is a developing year, not a rebuilding year. This is, we expect to make the playoffs and watch our young guys progress so that we can be true SB contenders the next year with the addition of a few more pieces.

I take it as, this year we should make the playoffs but probably won't go far. Next year, with a bunch of cap space to add even more talent, we turn into a true Super Bowl contender.

No one is talking about waiting for next year. It's simply being pointed out that there will be plenty of cap space next year to help make this team even better.

If you pay a guy $2 million to be on your practice squad, I doubt he leaves for another team unless they are willing to beat that.

Bro, Rodgers was a good defense away from winning like three Super Bowls. He had great season after great season that was wasted by an awful GM, head coach, and defense. That dude balled out and won more games for GB than a lot of QBs. Look what he did to Dallas a few years ago. It was almost a Rodgers vs. Manning SB if the team and coach didn’t choke it away. He isn't overrated at all.
