I'd like Gregg Williams the DB coach of Arizona Cardinals but I'm pretty sure they'll promote from within, my guess is LB Coach Bobby Babbich since these coaches already know the system.

Missing on Ford hurt badly. Compounded by head scratching selections with drafting Moss in the 2nd round after just drafting Singletary the prior year in the 3rd, wasting a 4th round pick on Fromm when you had greater needs than a backup QB and then going RB again with a 2nd round pick followed by a huge miss in the 3rd with LB T Bernard. Those were huge value picks that Beane chose to ignore OL or WR.  Josh has masked a lot of shortfalls and while Beane and McDermott deserve a lot of credit, they also deserve their fair share of criticism.  They spent 3 picks on RB in the early rounds and all have had minimal impact. In addition, they’ve spent a ton of draft capital and FA spend on the DL that has yet to be a difference maker against quality teams.

Moss was drafted in the 3rd round and I didn't see any reason why not to have a 1-2 punch back there, not every draft pick is a hit and there are no guarantees. He hit on the biggest need and that's QB, if nothing else we have a GM/HC who can identify and elite QB so for that they have my support for awhile. I don't agree with every move, draft pick etc. but I have to admit they sure as heck at least try. I remember the days of Doug Whaley, those were some dark times.

  3. I don't think we need to do anything extreme like trading Diggs, that is counter productive to what we're trying to do. We're on the cusp of a SB but there are some teams also there as well so it's never going to be easy. Build the OL through the draft and FA if we don't sign Edmunds we probably have enough to sign 1 big ticket FA OL like a RT McGlinchey, OG Ben Powers or draft a few as well. We will then need to re-sign a player like AJ Klein, he knows the system and shouldn't be all that expensive plus we draft a guy and have them battle it out in camp. I'd see if Benford can actually play S first before anointing him the starter there, if not draft 1 and let him compete with Marlowe or another guy in FA. The only way we have a shot at the SB is by keeping Josh alive and well so we want the best 5 guys we can get blocking in front of this man. We can create more cap easily so this shouldn't be an issue but lets stop the "trade Diggs" talk for now, that's just creating gigantic problems that we don't really need imo.

In this offense the #2 WR should be 1,000+ yards and 10 TD player consistently.

This is the stuff that gets me, if people just look up information. You know how many #2 WR fit this criteria in the NFL?...None. No #2 WR had 1,000 yards and 10 TD combo in all of football. Some came very close and the ones that were close had a QB on a rookie contract or the QB was Geno Smith 🙂. So you want Gabe Davis to be a WR that doesn't exist yet, he's also in his 2nd year as the full time starter. Stefon Diggs had 1,400 yards and 11 TD. I agree with most that he has to improve the drops for sure but we also have Dawson Knox who will be competing with catches.

Players in red are gone or are presumed to be gone (example: Edmunds is testing free agency and is expected to get way more than the Bills can pay). Also didn't include 2022 picks since its too early to rate them.

How do you rate the rest of the draft picks? Here are my ratings:

    2018

    Allen - elite

    Edmunds

    Phillips

    Teller

    Mccloud

    T Johnson - good

    Proehl

    2019

    Oliver - average

    Ford

    Singletary

    Knox - average

    Joseph

    J Johnson - bad

    D Johnson

    Sweeney

    2020

    Epenesa - backup quality

    Moss

    Davis - average

    Fromm

    Bass - good

    Hodgins

D Jackson - average (I'm not as down on Dane as some of you)

    2021

    Rousseau - average

    Basham - backup quality

    Brown - backup quality

    Doyle - backup

    Stevenson

    Hamlin - backup quality

    Wildgoose

    Anderson

He landed a top 3 QB in the NFL, He has my vote for awhile. He landed Poyer, Hyde, Morse, McCoy in free agency and  traded for Diggs. Also no way is Greg Rousseau or Dawson Knox Average, both are quality starters imo.

This board would do a 180 if we signed OBJ - everyone would be excited about it.  And that's because it would be exciting.

When healthy, he is still a top receiver, and would solve our problem at WR2 - allowing us to focus on the O-line and other needs in the first few rounds of the draft.

I've bolded the "when healthy" part, he's only been healthy twice since 2014 when he was drafted and now has 2 surgically repaired knees. I wouldn't be all that excited but of course I'd root for him to succeed but the odds are against him closing out the season imo.

With Adam Henry added as a coach and the need to go with a greater investment on offense I wonder if we see something like this:

    QB Allen

RB Hines/Cook + Latavius Murray as a larger back for short yardage (1 mil salary in 2022)

    WR1 Diggs

    WR2 Beckham

    WR3 Davis

    WR4 Shakir/Mckenzie/2nd Round Pick

    TE Knox/Sweeney

    LT Dawkins

    LG 1st round Pick

    C Morse

    RG  Bates

RT Brown/ FA /3rd or 4th Round Pick

Now mind you most estimates have the Bills with about 30 mil in cap space with projected restructures on the way and cuts. ODB on spotrac is estimated contract at 13 mil although I do wonder after all the noise, lack of play, and injuries if that deflates down to 9-10 million. Also Beane said they were not planning on a major signing (granted GMs never are fully honest). They could probably structure the contract to space the cap hit later to protect themselves but you would need to commit for 3 years I would think for ODB. Also signing ODB means Poyer is gone and Edmunds for sure is gone while you have 10-13 million tops to fill those holes as draft usually is 7-8 mil in cap space.

On the flip side the offense has a lot more juice, you get a WR in the 2nd for the long term, the offense line gets younger help, and a guy like Murray is a nice big back.

This is just hypothetical and its fun, what are your thoughts?

Since it's a hypothetical I'd go all in on the OL... Sign free agents RT Juwaan Taylor (JAX), OG Ben Powers (BAL), draft OG O'Cyrus Torrence (Florida) in round 1, draft ILB Noah Sewell (Oregon) round 2, C Joe Tippman in round 3 and let ILB Tremaine Edmunds walk in FA. Letting Tremaine walk probably means we can sign both Powers and Taylor but who knows what the price tags will be.

"A lot of love for him. Big kid," general manager Brandon Beane said. "Last time we went to Virginia Tech late, it worked out with Wyatt. I screwed it up, but we found a good player there. Not to say this kid is going to be Wyatt, but we're excited about him." This is an article about Wyatt Teller a prospect I thought we hit with & showed great potential said he was a bully & nasty. Clearly Beane wasn’t high on him maybe he didn’t fit the culture. Took what we could get in a trade & he became a pro bowler. Now Hodgins flashed in camp a few times. Brought a huge element to the offense big body, speed, I mean added to Diggs, Davis, McKenzie/Shakir would have gave us some great matchups. The fact Beane let him sit on the PS. Knowing Daboll knows all about Hodgins why not active. You bring in John Brown & Cole Beasley. Both old & already played themselves out of Buffalo. So I have no faith in McDermott or Beane fixing their issues. While our owner clearly is dealing with health issues of his wife a part owner as well. So I don’t see anything being fixed next year. Unless Dorsey has a revelation.

So you have no faith in ownership, coaches and GM because we didn't activate 6th round WR to the active roster and we traded away a G who happened to be an all pro? I think people are losing their minds right before our eyes.

Allen is +170, Mahomes and Burrow +700 are closest.  Vegas obviously isn't buying what so many on these Bills Boards are trying to sell them.

Bills Boards: Allen is a liability! His turnovers are costing us games! He isn't good enough! Wah! Wah! Wah!

Vegas: NFL favorite for MVP next year in a landslide by almost 3.5 times the next player.

Step back from the ledge and have some perspective.

Spoiler alert…Davis is not “fine” as the number 2. Not even close. Very limited skill set and elite tree. We can upgrade there for sure.

If that's your opinion that's cool but like I said I'm not as down on Davis as others, it was his first year as the starting #2.

    Don't care, it's inconsequential

    Please explain.

  11. I thought it was 1 of the most exciting SB I've seen in some time by 2 teams I don't like at all and it was ruined by the refs once again and it's becoming an occurrence all the time now. It's sad that the most trending part of the SB is saying it's rigged or an Eagles fan punching his TV and almost abusing his friends. Everyone knows that was a holding call including Bradberry but it was let go all game long and then you make it on the game deciding drive where the ball was clearly 5 yards beyond the WR and uncatchable? I hate saying sports are rigged because it makes me feel like a conspiracy theorist type lol but they're definitely making it seem that way more often than not lately, all the billions the NFL makes and you can't find FT refs?

Again, I’m not the GM or scouts. Why does it matter who I think should replace Edmunds? Whoever it is I’m pretty sure we can handle not giving up 35 points in a Championship, game.

Tell me….who do you think we can bring in on offense to score 35 to 38 points in a game like we just witnessed? Or, does that not matter to you?

Well we scored the 3rd most points in the league behind KC and Philadelphia so we're right there with the top teams, I'm not as down on Gabe Davis as others and think he's fine as the #2 plus with TE Dawson Know and Diggs we have a solid trio at WR. If we didn't re-sign Edmunds I'd go after RT Mike McGlinchey (SF), I'd also draft in the 1st or 2nd round an OG, we'll also need to draft a ILB in the 1st 3 round of the draft as well because we will now lose a do everything ILB imo.

I am the biggest fan of Edmunds but how do you justify giving him a big contract?

    Let him and Poyer walk.

Get Allen some speed and protection and the Bills will be on stage at this time next season.

    Enough said!

Who is going to be our ILB since you're letting him walk? I'm not saying I disagree with you I just want to hear your realistic replacement? Who are you getting to protect Allen also?
