  1. I don't care about percentages, I don't want a QB who has trouble playing the position as an actual QB to be leading the team, we can do better and just because he's not "killing our cap" he is hurting us in more ways imo.
  2. I mentioned Anderson on someones FA thread, I think he or Ryan Fitzpatrick would be the cheap backup veteran that Beane talks about, Fitz won't be commanding 5-8M a season anymore, not a chance at least I hope not.
  3. I see you added Eric Wood, maybe I'm undervaluing him or maybe fans are over valuing him but I saw him as an average piece here, when Groy filled in for him after he broke his leg what seemed like an every other year thing, I didn't even realize Wood was gone to be honest. I feel really bad for the guy, he's done so much with his foundation, the community and was a great leader in our locker room but aside from those things, I've always viewed him as upgradeable, I see so many fans feel the same as you and I just wonder why. I feel the same as you, there are a bunch of positions that need to be tweaked or overhauled here but a QB in place would make things so much less of a worry, you fill in those peices why your QB progresses, getting Kelvin Benjamin was a great start, I don't care what other fans on here think, he's a legit #1 WR , Cam Newton had no trouble with him as the #1, seemed like they were both on the same page but it seems like Beane will put a band aid over a bunch of positions and hope for the best, I'm curious to see what we do at LB since our LB core is horrendous imo.
  4. I'd think Cousisns would rather be signed longterm which is what would be worked out after the tag is signed, Cousins would then work out a long term deal with said team and the 34.5M deal would be voided.
  5. He got what the market was offering, I don't think they just blindly traded any player without asking every GM in the league so they could get the best compensation for them. I mean realistically we all wanted at least a 1st round pick for Dareus, he went for a 5th because he had a monster contract and only had I think a handful of tackles along with 2 sacks at the time, who is giving a 1st round pick for that? You say "yuck" to Jordan Matthews but he compares very closely to the guy many fans on here still talk about (Sammy Watkins), the stats are very close, he's a good player but he unfortunately got injured and never got to showcase that here. Ragland is strictly a 3-4 ILB so he did us absolutely no good here, I actually kind of thought we got the better of that deal considering that there are only a number of 3-4 teams out there that strictly play that scheme, so I was quite happy with that. I can give you so many reasons why Whaley was terrible but you will just discard all of my opinions so is it really worth the effort? If you can't see that Whaley was a bad GM then there is no convincing you, your mind is already made up and that's fine, we all have different opinions and mine is different from yours.
  6. For a non QB I'd say Arden Key from LSU, he's the pass rusher we need, I've been reading up on his "personal problems", he missed 4 months because of it, LSU sat him so there is definitely something there but I think the media is blowing it out of proportion like they usually do, I see a pure pass rusher who's also stout against the run and doesn't get man handled shedding blocks, I've watched all of LSU's full games in 2016 and just finished watching 2017, he doesn't seem to quit on plays. I have no clue what his issues are but he's 6'6" 255 lbs., can play OLB or DE, I think he'd be a great addition, the mocks I'm seeing have him falling to the later portion of round 1, I think he'd be a steal there considering he was top 10 before his whole ordeal imo.
  7. I appreciate the work you put into this, I'd love to get Sam Bradford but the more I hear Beane talk the more I believe him when he says he wont be making big splashes in FA so I'm ruling out Bradford, I'll say either Derek Anderson or Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the backup. I also agree with many that Tyrod Taylor has a better chance probably netting a 6th round pick than a 4th, comparing him to Alex Smith is just a horrible comparison because he's not even half the QB Smith is. I liked Cockrell in Pittsburgh, I think he'd be a solid pickup. I think we draft a QB round 1, I think it's a must and I believe that's why we collected the draft picks is for a trade up the draft board, Mike White isn't terrible but again we already have our developmental QB in Nate Peterman, this coaching staff isn't giving up on him even though the fans already seem to have done that.
  8. You think Jordy Nelso is the reason Aaron Rodgers is elite? How did Nelson fair this year without Rodgers, 53 rec, 482 yards, 6 TD, he had 97 , 1,257 and 14 TD with Rodgers throwing to him, all the WR stats were way down. Brown is maybe the exception to the rule but i think he'd still struggle without one of the top QB's, it's just how it goes.
  9. With or without those players traded, Whaley was a terrible GM and to say Beane got nothing for the players is laughable.
  10. By "obliterate" do you mean Beane will cut loose player's he doesn't see as a fit for us then yes, as he should, we can add talent just about everywhere. This roster just shows how bad Whaley really was.
  11. An elite QB makes the WR not the other way around. Benjamin is a great start, Zay Jones will bounce back, now we just need a burner, they're a dime a dozen, least of our worries imo.
  12. I don't think you understand the severity of what Washington did here, I'm thinking most of Cousins deal will be guaranteed so the cap hit endured to a team won't be near as bad but will need an owner with deep pockets. That is definitely The Pegula's so you might be right, I just see the Broncos , with Elway at the fore front being a good situation for any top QB free agent.
  13. I learned they overpay for everything from an owner who thinks he can just buy anything he wants. You have a younger, better version of Alex Smith in Cousins, I would have just paid him the money. Now they give up a 3rd, a solidcorner for a 33 year old stop gap QB who will never get them a SB ring, oh and they saturate the market for the QB position, it was always a high market but they just set the bar even higher, 71M guaranteed? Are they nucking futs? Just an idiotic move by a clueless organization imo.
  14. I think it's more likely Taylor gets cut,why would someone trade for him if they know Buffalo is desperate to trade him before the deadline? Even if some team does I doubt it's for more than a late round pick imo, there is no comparison when talking about Tyrod and Smith, there is completely 0, Smith isn't even an elite QB and he is light years better than Taylor.
  15. I think Denver and Arizona have the most realistic chances of landing Cousins with Denver being the front runner, Elway always seems to lure the big fish.
  16. You forgot there is a new regime who will most likely pick their own signal caller.... https://247sports.com/nfl/new-york-giants/Bolt/Davis-Webb-New-York-Giants-quarterback-is-an-afterthought-for-new-regime-114366321
  17. I was thinking it would be a good game at first then I remembered what the Pats used to do with Jim Schwartz' defense here when he was with the Bills, I think the Eagles will keep it close at first but will have the game won by the end of the 3rd quarter.
  18. They would be nuts to pass up on Josh Rosen imo, they don't even have to trade up for a QB, they can select him and never look back. I don't even think it's an after thought to be honest but there is always smoke and mirrors leading up to the draft.
  19. I know you're using a hypothetical and all but I'll say Cleveland takes a QB, who realistically are they going to trade up for? I think another poster said this but I'm going to guess it's alot easier trading up then it is to trade down just for the fact that at 21/22 there has to be players that a team can't live without and aside from QB's in this draft I Just don't see it.
  20. Plan C would be see what Nate Peterman can do to get you the #1 overall pick or close next season, I just don't see how you can pay Taylor 18M knowing he can't throw the ball only to be bumped out of the playoffs round 1 again, rinse, repeat and again wipe our chances of getting a top QB yet again. We have the draft capital this year to go all in, Cleveland is an excellent trade partner if Darnold, Allen, Rosen, Mayfiled or Jackson is on the Bills radar. I would give up the motherload for that position and that position only and we can only hope/pray that the guys making the decisions know what the hell they're doing.
  21. I liked Davenport as a player we'd be eying as a pass rusher if we didn't take a QB, he'll be long gone by our pick now, he was probably borderline not making it to us before this but now it's almost a given. I thought G Will Hernandez played outstanding, a guy his size pulling and pancaking defensive lineman. Josh Allen probably solidified himself as the #1 QB taken, that arm strength was on display and he was making some outstanding NFL throws. Harrison Phillips was getting constant pressure also.
  22. Lauletta is like a 5th round prospect, he's now vaulted into the 2nd round because of the Senior Bowl where they 're not even aloud to blitz the QB?
  23. You're missing the points of his trades, the players involved are just throw ins, the draft pick capital is like gold when rebuilding a roster, with 6 picks in the 1st 3 rounds we can now start filling holes with talented young fresh legs if we pick the correct players. That's how championship caliber teams are built. All of those players in Beane's mind didn't fit the culture they were looking for so we moved on, I don't see anything wrong with that as long as it works in the long run. The guy hasn't even been here a full season yet, lets give him a chance before Lynching him already.
  24. I'm not trying to be insensitive but when Wood went out with the broken leg, Groy played quite well almost like Woods wasn't even hurt. Again I feel for the guy and I will donate to his charity for sure, just stating what i saw a few years back.
  25. Imo Allen is the enigma of the draft, playing at a small school you'd like to see him dominate the competition. Some will say the talent around him left but I believe a great QB makes others around him better. I think he's coachable but is he going to be Gabbert or is he going to be Ben Roethlisberger?
