I guess the future lasts forever so it doesn't matter when it starts.
But as far as 2017 and 2018 are concerned, I think I would be more excited about having Mahomes joining the team, then an unknown future drafted QB. Not because Mahomes is automatically better than someone we would draft next year. Just simply the fact that a 2018 drafted QB likely won't be available prior to 2019.
There are other ways to fill the CB spot than with a #1 draft pick.
Yep. White is no where need Gilmore...and we will see on Mahomes. At least Reid knows they need a QB. Even though they got a serviceable QB.

So for all of those griping about the trade ..... According to Reid, Mahomes is not ready to start in 2017.
No kidding. Yet they have a serviceable QB and will make playoffs...but Reid also understands they are not going to make Super Bowl without great QB. Mahomes can develop into that. Most gifted QB in class.

Interesting comment from Sean McDermott, who uses word "I" when talking about decision not to trade down again from No. 27, before correcting himself and using "we." Lots of ongoing intrigue about how much power McDermott yields within draft room and how much GM Doug Whaley's voice matters.

Trade one of those 1st round picks for Kirk Cousins. There have been reports that Cleveland and Washington were in talks. Now maybe we have the fire power. That's a win now move, instead of riding the fence like we always do.
