  1. I thought of Boys From Brazil cause I saw it when it came out. A couple years later I saw it again with a friend and housemate at SUNY Albany who grew up with Steve Guttenberg. They were good buds in high school on L.I. and went to Albany together. Guttenberg left after a year to be an actor. He gets killed in one of the first scenes I think.
  2. I am going to honor him by watching Downfall and Boys From Brazil.
  3. I will personally lend my mojo and will them to victory today. ? Now back to the thread about not winning the SB this year.
  4. ***** him, hope he falls apart next year. Expecting the Steelers to miss the playoffs again.
  5. No going back now. Pittsburgh gets a big dead cap hit from trading him as well.
  6. 'Sophie Scholl the Final Days' was a great movie. A tragic true story that did a great job showing how the apathy and fear of everyday people allowed the free press and right to protest to be crushed as the Nazis took power.
  7. I am bumping this thread because a duplicate was formed after it. But after reading I realize who he was. RIP.
  8. I respect the role leadership plays in an organization like a football team. With a constant influx of young cocky guys that need to 'get with the program'. The problem is the Bills spent the most in the league on rbs and were the least productive. The line was bad, but the rbs were not good either. If you are paying McCoy 9 mil this year (3rd in league) to be a role player and a veteran leader you aren't getting near the production that money could buy. There are a few guys in fa I would love for the Bills to have and they will sign somewhere for about 3 to 6 per, which means the 15 mil the Bills spent last year would have been enough to pay 3 of the top fa not named Bell and still have money left over. I like the idea of having 2 or 3 talented backs and at least 2 that are good receivers. The committee approach leaves you far less vulnerable to injuries when they inevitably happen. Just spending cap money because you have it is a bad idea. Spend it on solid to top notch talent and roll the rest over to next year. Anyways thnx for disagreeing respectfully, as I do with you. I appreciate the civil discourse.
  9. The 3rd highest paid rb in the NFL this coming season is gonna be a 3rd down back we keep for his 'veteran leadership'? Shady doesn't strike me as the greatest role model or leader of men and that's not what the team needs from the highest paid, oldest, and lowest producing backfield in the league anyway. I don't consider that money well spent. What the team needs is young talented rbs to lead by playing well and scoring tds imo. Lets get some guys who are hungry to prove themselves and get over the sentimentality of hanging on to guys whose play no longer justifies their pay.
  10. How hard is it to replace 2 rbs? Plenty of good options in fa and the 9 million in cap savings would be enough to replace them both with quality players. Like you said he has certainly lost a step and he was the highest paid rb in the league last year. Will be 3rd this year, a lot of money spent on the most expensive, oldest, least productive unit in the league. Definitely time for a change imo and it shouldn't take 2 yrs.
  11. If they can get a team to offer anything like that I'm all for it. Either way though I'm hoping they opt for a change.
  12. A 9 mil cap hit for a reduced role because they have plenty of cap and he's 'earned' it? I'm pretty sure he has been fairly compensated, being the highest paid in the league last season. The Bills don't owe him anything imo and should do what's best for the team. There should never be cap money wasted just because you have it. It rolls over into the next year.
  13. If they could trade McCoy I would be for it. The buyer would be on the hook for 6.5 mil and the Bills for 2.5, might get a team to offer something for that. Either way I would like to see new talent in the backfield myself. Ivory and McCoy would free up almost 9 mil in cap and create 3.4 in dead cap. I disagree that he was still dangerous in space. He was at the very bottom of not just the rushing but pass catching rankings on pff. Now pff is no authority and the o line was not good at all, but being at the very bottom of 34 rbs in both categories is not a good sign. I think the Bills need more youthful talent. Not sure what guys like Coleman will get in fa but I would be happy with him. I like Spencer Ware too. That 9 mil may even be enough to bring in more than one talented rb. I like the idea of having 2 guys who can both run and catch. The Bills had the most expensive and probably the oldest backfield in the league last year. They were also about the least productive. It's time for a change imo.
  14. The discussion about whether there really is a 'national emergency' at the border should be a short one. Trump admitted that "he didn't need to do this" "wanted the wall faster than the legislative process would allow". He said this because he has no control over what comes out of his mouth. You know whoever wrote the speech would not be dumb enough to say that. Just for the record I have no affiliation with political parties so the usual mature and intelligent responses like 'suck it dems' etc. don't apply. I like to think for myself and think that money and influence peddling have corrupted the current system. Lobbying of Congress and corporate influence through super pacs undermine democracy imo.
  15. I would bet there was definite evidence of collusion. Goodell and/or the owners probably failed to anticipate a lawsuit and created txt or email evidence.
  16. Learned to drive in my brother's yellow 74 Dodge Dart Swinger, 3 on the tree. I ended up buying it from him. Loved that car.
  17. Teams may still want to get ahead of Denver though, so a trade back for another 2nd is still a possibility. Washington seems like a perfect match.
  18. I don't really think he is either. I should have qualified that with 'if at all'. Seems like a pointless waste of a 4th rnd pick to me.
  19. I doubt they think that their future is Flacco. They may wait a year to draft a QB though. The Flacco trade is hard to understand. At this point he is barely better than Keenum imo.
  20. Not to pile on but you forgot 3 mil guaranteed to Corey Coleman for hanging out in Buffalo a week and a half, not even making the team. Left Buffalo with a large bag of cash, never playing a down.
  21. Das Limpett! Yes, Ladyfish was smokin. My brothers and I loved that movie. The Ghost and Mr. Chicken was a good one too. Sorry, thought this was the Don Knotts thread.
  22. I was pretty cranky that day. Turns out it was a great contract for the team and Beane did a great job. Hope he turns out to be a good player. My complaint about Long being the highest paid o lineman and Bodine and Ducasse next in line was more about the lack of talent on the Bills line. Last year's fa pickups were uninspiring to say the least and I was concerned this year would be more of the same. If they are gonna spend for talent in fa I am hoping the line is a major focus.
