Once again I never advocated for or against bringing in Houston. The only reason I even commented in this thread was in response to this assumption of yours before a single snap in either career: 'we know exactly who our pass rusher's are going to be for the forseeable future......all on cost controlled contracts.' It is disingenuous to put words in people's mouths and assume to know their unstated opinions for the sake of argument. Have a good day fellow Bills fan.

I never said anything about building with aging vets and I made no mention or advocacy for acquiring Houston. Wtf are you talking about? I merely pointed out that assuming two guys who have never played a down in the NFL will be starters for years to come is a ridiculous assumption. Add to that the fact that neither is considered a talented outside rusher and it's even more ridiculous. I'm not against those draft picks. I'm just not assuming they will be successful starters. Even if they do both work out they may not contribute very much this year, which is the very reason you bring in older proven vets on one year deals. Wtf is so hard to understand about that?

Are you being facetious? I can't tell. You do realize that not all draft picks become 'starters for the foreseeable future' ? Right? These guys were considered projects by the analysts and not particularly skilled as outside rushers. In fact both of them did a lot of their rush work from the inside. So if you're not being facetious, assuming these guys will be the answer on the outside for years to come is just ridiculous imo.

Bills interested in CB Steven Nelson
Turk71 replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The season before last in Pitt. he graded out as the 6th best cb in the league. His defensive stats were elite. White and Gilmore were top 2 that year. cmp% qbrtg yds/trgt tds Nelson 50 65.8 6.6 0 Tre White 50 43.3 6.6 0 similar number of targets The year before that his numbers were elite again for KC, as good as White's were. Last season his numbers were more average. qbrtg was 95, (Tre's went up to 80). If he has a year even close to his 2018 and 2019 seasons he could be a huge difference maker for the Bills, especially if there are injuries. If he is average like last year he still improves the overall talent and depth. The Bills are thin at the pos group and that could become a problem. CB is not a position to be thin when you have all the ingredients in place for a championship. This year is the Bills best shot at a title since the SB run. I'll be psyched if they sign him. -
I got rebounds for the Bucks at halftime and sat under the basket during a game at the Aud that year. I went to the game early with my older brother who was an usher. I was wearing my JC Penney Junior Buffalo Braves sweatshirt and was chosen to be the ball boy for the game. Alcindor stood next to me and handed me the ball to toss out to the shooters (changed his name later that year). Oscar Robertson shook my hand. I was 10 and will never forget it.

I was living and skiing in Park City UT at the time. A bunch of us skied Park West (The Canyons now) and then my buddy Herman from Montreal had a big Bills party for the game. I honestly don't remember much of the game but I know we had a blast.☺ -

My little brother and I were there, age 12 and 9. We would dash through the stadium following the Bills up and down the field. Big kickoff return TD, OJ romping for 200 and Chandler with 2 tds. I remember the frenzied electric crowd. That was an amazing day! -

My older sister was absolutely crazy about Bob Chandler. In ' 73 she bought 3 season tickets and took 2 of her little brothers to each game (what an awesome sister). After one of the games, she spotted Chandler leaving and heading across the back lot to his car (she may have been stalking him😂). My sister took off running with me and my little brother, 12 and 9, chasing after her. After a long run we caught up to him, he couldn't have been nicer and after a brief chat he signed autographs for the 3 of us. He was definitely one of my favorite Bills as a kid. -
For people saying Ertz had ***** QB play last year. Goedert caught 75% of his 64 targets for over 8yds/tgt and 3 tds Ertz caught 52% of his 68 targets for less than 5 yds/tgt and 1 td. 200 yds and 2 tds more for Goedert on 4 less targets than Ertz, same QB. I know he was banged up but I'm not confident he will ever be the player he was again and I definitely wouldn't trade a pick and pay 8 mil for 1 year to find out. Steven Nelson is the guy I hope they get. I think he would make a much bigger impact on the teams chances.

Not sure Breida would qualify as dark horse, but I think he will have a good year and make some big plays. He is one of the fastest rbs in the league. After not being invited to the 2017 combine he ran 4.37 in the 40, an incredible 42" vertical jump, and benched 225 23 times at his pro day. I think he has a lot to prove and will have success in Buffalo. His opportunities will increase as the year progresses and he establishes himself as the top threat.

Just guessing but it probably stems from the fact that he was not good in pass coverage. 115 passer rating when targeted. 4 tds surrendered on 60 targets 12.5 yds per catch 7 yards after catch/rec He was literally one of the worst MLB in the league at pass coverage. So that's probably where that came from.
-
I'd settle for some consistently competent play, less missed tackles and improved coverage skills. DPOY ? DPOY ? That would be an amazing development that I would love to see. If that happens the Bills are a top 3 defense and SB favorites.

Wrong, neither of the giant tackles were drafted for their run blocking abilities. It is not a strong point for either of them.

What's your top 4 pass rush package?
Turk71 replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
3rd and long 5 man front Hughes Basham Oliver Rousseau Obada/Addison withMilano and 5dbs. No time for downfield plays to develop. So sick of watching teams convert 3rd and longs because of soft coverage or lack of aggression. 3rd and long is when got em where you want em and go for the kill. -

Hughes was tied with TJ Watt for highest pass rush win rate. Bills D was 2nd in the league at that stat. The outside pass rush wasn't the main problem. The coverage scheme was soft and the inside rush was weak allowing qbs to avoid rush and hit open outlets. Tighter coverage and more push in the middle would have resulted in more sacks. I don't think the outside rush was the main problem, but they definitely needed an influx of young talent. -

I suspect he will be used as an interior pass rusher on passing downs this year. He did a lot of his work from the inside in his one big season. His pass rush win rate on the inside was dominant while his win rate on the outside was average. He's not a speed rusher or pure pass rusher at this point. He wins with power, tenacity, and an instinctual nose for the ball (having octopus arms helps as well). While he works on his outside moves he can play end on early downs and then kick inside on obvious passing downs while a speed rush specialist takes over at end.
