Wow... Beane and McDermott have set this team so far back. Anybody blaming Allen for ANYTHING you see on that field today has officially failed at life. McDermott was regarded for his “defensive prowess”, this team give up what, 68 points in less that six quarters? On top of that, he forced Nate Peterman down this fan bases throat. He REEKS of incompetence- oppposing offenses 9 for !@#$ing 9 in the red zone... Personally I've seen all I have to see to KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that McDermott is not a legitimate head coach in this league. Considering the way he and Beane have purged off talent, literally wasted draft picks, and have utterly embarrassed this franchise, they need to be given their marching orders.

Oh BS, this is just another in a long line of head scratching moves, that’s the problem. It started when they had 6 picks in the first 3 rounds and walked away with ONE day 1 starter, while trading away a ton of picks for a QB they clearly did not feel was ready to play right away. Why not get 5 starters, address the OL that you lost, and build off a playoff season, still get your physically gifted project QB without having to trade up in Lamar Jackson, make a play for Bridgewater in the off season (who surely would’ve signed here if you are penciling him in as the starter). I assure you, it’s not this move in particular, more of an accumulation of questionable decisions from the coaching staff hires (and retaining Castillo), to the unnecessary cutting/trading of any player Rex brought in for whatever they could get for them, the fact that McDermott refuses to see what Peterman is (or isn’t), not having a veteran backup to help with Allen’s development, rolling with Tolbert as your #2 back all last year- it’s really quite a long list. But Andy Dalton got McDermott in the playoffs so cut him some slack right? Who cares about the point differential last season, or the abysmal offensive and defensive rankings???

Beginning? When they trade all their draft capital to take a QB rough around the edges like Allen, and bring in a guy to be his QB coach that hasn’t done so since Joe Montana was still winning SuperBowls, you realize their is no real formula or process... Here in Rochester the guys @ 95.7 keep throwing around the term “cronyism” and I think that’s the only “process” we are getting here in Buffalo. The “process” of being Carolina II and filling vital coaching positions with McD’s buddies like Castillo and Culley rather than innovative thinkers... or just Jordan Palmer at least since he did so much to help Allen’s game. Besides who needs receivers when the QB never has a clean pocket and is running for his life all game anyway. Atleast we released Washington, and Kerley. They were clearly the problem in Baltimore...

You gotta trade McCoy now... right?
ThunderGun replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Steelers can get a 3rd for Bryant then Buffalo can get a 3rd from a team contending for a Super Bowl. What’s a 3rd rounder compared to a dual threat RB who hasn’t showed any real signs of slowing down and could be the missing piece to a title. Lombardi Trophy > Late 3rd round draft pick. Just wait for the inevitable injury to pop up on one of the contenders... Or if the Colts really believe Luck is back to 110%, McCoy could be the back they need. At worst a 4th, but I think a 3rd is doable for sure. Benjamin and Clay are more like the guys they would end up getting a 5th or 6th for, and I would take it. Bring back Streater or Reily, and O’Leary, at least they played with some heart. -

I’m pretty sure it’s just Jeff Tuel with some moderate facial reconstruction surgery anyway. -
I think anybody over the age of 27 with any value at all should be traded. It doesn’t matter, Beane is clearly way out of his depth here. Part of me wonders if Pegula was just like “Beane??? Like the moneyball guy!?!? Bring him in!!” He could have had SIX picks in the top 100, including FOUR in the 1st and 2nd round... instead he trades them away for a project QB, Edmunds who I like but was he worth giving up another starter for??? And then Phillips, again a nice player, but at this point a rotational lineman. If he was the last of the 6 picks, then no problem. Instead of 5-6 starters, Beane managed to land ONE day 1 starter... For all of his wheeling and dealing, he seems to be consistently getting the raw end of the deal when all is said and done. I hated that Whaley traded picks instead of stock piling them, and Beane has only proven to be worse. The point being, Beane has put this team in a really tough spot and instead of a Wildcard team was that looks to be on its way up, last year just looks like a giant fluke. He had the draft picks to address the holes in the line and secondary, he traded everything for a project QB, and a MLB.

Do you feel good about what he might do? This is the guy that felt good about rolling with Mike Tolbert as the change of pace back. Gave what little money they have to Murphy and Star. Had 6 picks in the first three rounds and got ONE day 1 starter. Did next to nothing to address the loss of Wood and Incginito. Thought Nate Peterman was a starting caliber NFL QB... He will get the chance, but I don’t know how anybody could feel optimistic about the end result at this point. I see lots of roster movement and trades, but it’s all flash and no bang.

Bills vs. Ravens: 1st Half Game Day Thread

Josh Allen is going to need to be a perennial All Pro to justify killing this season. The trades up for Allen and Edmunds cost this team quality picks that could have been used to address the offensive line. -

Please trade Shady tomorrow, this team needs draft picks, not a running back they can’t block for... -
Obviously this won’t happen... but I said from day 1, you don’t give up 6 picks in the first 3 rounds when you have as many holes as this team did, especially after the Wood retirement and knowing Incognito was going to be out. You especially don’t do it if you aren’t even getting a day 1 starter from the guy you are giving up quality picks for. Buffalo could have filled G, T, C and still drafted a physically gifted project QB in Jackson.

McDermott may not be the most innovative mind in football, but he’s not going to just leave Davis/Gaines out there on an island. Luckily Buffalo is deep at safety and with them using the 3 safety package throughout camp, either corner will be getting plenty of help. I think as long as Davis gets that help over the top so he doesn’t have to worry about getting beat deep, he will be fine. Hopefully he’s just been shaking of the rust...

Yeah, probably a bit too much. But they’re just words, as long as you aren’t using deragtory language, who gives a ****?

Who is Beane’s next trade chip?
ThunderGun replied to GoodHands15's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think a team looking to make a Super Bowl push, or is in a “win now” mentality and loses their starter would give a 2nd for Shady, which I would gladly accept at this point. Gruden gave a 3rd for Martavis freakin Bryant... and then cut him, so Shady who hasn’t slowed down yet should net something worth trading him for. This team is at best a wildcard team, and that would be much more impressive than them making it last year considering the amount of roster turnover. Realistically if I had to bet on the over/under at 5.5 wins, I’m taking the under right now. Load up on picks, trade the aging running back and have both draft capital and tons of cap room to build the team the right way. If they can land a 3rd and a talented OL that is acceptable as well, but either way I definitely can see Shady being dealt somewhere, possibly even back to Philly. -
Buffalo Bills 2018: Meet the 53
ThunderGun replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah... but sometimes, it’s too late before you find out... is what I’ve been told at least -
Doug Whaley was still gm of that draft. He was fired the next day. Probably for trading up for Zay Jones.
-
He could also still end up being cut sometime in the next 24-48 hours... that could definitely still happen.

Foster over Coleman is a pretty big shock for the simple fact that Coleman was the first WR off the board in 2016, while 32 teams passed on Foster 250+ times. But when you consider the following, it’s definitely nothing earth shattering- Both offer the ability to stretch the field, but Foster has at least gotten open to draw targets. He knows the playbook, obviously has favor/familiarity with Daboll and his system. Plus I’d be willing to bet Foster was out there with 110% effort being a UDFA with zero guaranteed money, while we all know Coleman lacks the heart to be a difference maker in this league. Now the Bills get to contribute $3 million to his shoe collection.

Bills are playing a little "Rope A Dope" with the AFC
ThunderGun replied to realtruelove's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL, called me out on it? Way to go sport. Im not sure what you called me out on, but now that you have exposed me to the world I should probably just go into hiding... Or, perhaps you just take this **** a little too serious, maybe? You our look at the records from the last 4 years and tell me why McDermott is so great. Because national pundits who pay no actual attention to the Bills said they were bad and then they went on to win 9 games? This team has perennially hovered between 7 to 9 wins, so forgive me if I don’t think last season was particularly earth shattering, especially coming off seasons of 9-7, 8-8 and 7-9 prior to McD taking the reigns. I want a championship caliber football team, not squeaking into the post season and being one and done. It was a fun season and a fun team to watch but fans like you have just set the bar so incredibly low that we’re not even allowed to critique or have anything negative to say about a super mediocre football team (9 wins is very mediocre by the way) without having to deal with angry, belligerent, nonsensical backlash. Last seasons team wasn’t even the best 9 win team Buffalo has had in the last 5 years, it just happened to be good enough to get in. If you want to discount the bit of luck (and wizardry by Dalton) that it took to get into the playoffs last season, then by all means continue plowing your head into the sand. Judging by your responses and glaring rage issues, I’m guessing you’re more of the table smashing Bills fan anyway. -
