12/15/24 Week 15 Bills @ Lions Game Post Game Thread
transplantbillsfan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah that really kinda sucks for them. Now I really hope they can make it to the Super Bowl if the Bills can get there. -
-
That's exactly what they did on their 2nd onside kick and it almost worked.
-
Ummm... who cares??? We just did that on offense without him catching a pass. This team is suddenly so chock full of weapons and you're complaining. He had almost 100 yards last week, remember?
-
Doesn't elevating him from the practice squad to the active roster qualify him.
-
How exactly does the emergency 3rd QB thing work if that's what he's going to be? Does it just not count against your active players?
-
-
I think he was worth the 3rd round pick we gave up for him last year, but it's clear we should NOT extend him.
-
No Rapp 2 days in a row. No Hamlin today. Time for Hyde and Bishop. The savvy vet and the naive but talented rook. Should be interesting.

I mean... 64% of the seats are supposed to be covered by a canopy and the heating is supposed to extend into the stands to prevent that. Yes... for fans viewing experience it might have been better to build the dome. I responded to a statement that implied that not having a dome somehow hindered the Bills practice and game schedule. 2 different things. Again... separate issue from what I responded to. Not having a dome has zero to do with why the Bills didn't practice today considering they have an indoor practice facility. So you just wish the Bills chose to relocate the stadium out of Orchard Park and didn't care about the dome? Does it not snow where you live?
-
Do you want the team to move out of WNY???? People are dumb. A dome would not have helped practice run today considering we have an indoor facility. It also wouldn't have helped with recent games that got postponed and moved. Those games were postponed and moved because of the safety of travel in WNY, not because of turf conditions. The new field will be heated and able to get rid of snow quickly. Everyone saying Buffalo needs a dome so games don't get moved or cancelled are naive. If you want a dome for the aesthetics of the game, that's a different story.

When both of our cats passed we had them cremated and put in mahogany urns that we still have featured in our little "nook" in our living room. I'll still say "'night bud" or "love you bud" frequently when I walk by 9 months after his passing. I'm good. We have other cats and one has latched onto me. I'll never seek a replacement for him, though. He was just totally unique in ways that are impossible to describe. Grateful for the time I had with him. That's all you can be.

I really hope you're dealing well with this. My wife and I are those "crazy cat ladies" people think of. We had to put our first 2 cats down the last couple years. One was hers and the other was mine. Hers literally followed her around the house during the day and slept at her feet while she worked from home. Mine would run to the door meowing as soon as I would walk into the house from work. Both of our cats slept with us on the bed side by side... her cat's spot right next to her in bed and mine on the opposite side next to me. Hers got ovarian cancer. Mine had both chronic kidney disease and heart failure. I'm not ashamed to say I've never cried as much in my life when we decided it was time to put my boy down... 2nd place was when we put my wife's girl down. Cats can be more of a roll of the dice than dogs, but the best cats are the best pets there are. Condolences to your wife and you.

Our D absolutely annihilated the Dolphins at full strength in week 2 this season when the team was at full strength.

Listen to Joe Marino's All-22 breakdown of the game. He spends most of the entire episode talking about defensive breakdowns. Listen particularly to about the 7 minute mark. This is where he talks about all the pre-snap motion, which is the misdirection I was talking about. I guess I could have used the words "pre-snap motion" instead, but misdirection is essentially what that is, anyway:
-
The speed thing is a question, but Hyde as the "centerfield" Free Safety he's always played hasn't really had the responsibility of covering other defenders. His value would be added communication to the secondary and the instincts to read what the offense is doing pre-snap and react to it quicker than Hamlin. To me, that's the biggest issue with Hamlin. And some of the guys who watch film have alluded to it. Hamlin tackles well, but it's almost always down the field because of how late he is to react to plays. I think we can all agree that Hyde was the better Safety than Poyer last year. Now with so much time to rest and recover from his neck injuries and stingers, maybe he can be even better than he was last season. The Rams ate the Bills alive because of how much their misdirection was confusing the entire D. To me, a veteran presence would have helped to diagnose some of that. If the Bills do make it to a Super Bowl, they're almost certainly going to face a similarly explosive offense with lots of misdirection since that's what most of the Elites of the NFC do.

I understand that he's not likely to see actual playing time this weekend and it won't be until the home game vs. the Pats he's probably elevated. That said, it's looking like Hyde came back to this team at a darn good time. Our Safeties looked awful yesterday. Rapp has been so good for most of the season that he gets some grace, but Hamlin was by far the worse player of the 2 yesterday and has been all year. He's a good tackler, but just lacks the coverage ability and instincts. You saw it on that deep completed pass (think it was called back) where he was torched. I understand Hyde isn't 2021 Micah Hyde, but his instincts and intelligence are something that Hamlin--who is always just a step or 2 hesitant in coverage--just doesn't have. If our D gets torched in the passing game on Sunday I think the passing of that torch from young to old is inevitable. I'd just rather not see another shitshow like that. Dude came back to Buffalo potentially to be the ultimate team guy as a mentor for the young guys. Might be best for the young guys to watch him play for a bit. And honestly... if not Hyde... put Cole Bishop back in there and let the athletic freak learn a little in some live action.

Postseason is ALL that matters

Babbich has talked about how the best teaching comes from losses. Let's see what he's got. We good. -
An absolute disaster by the coaches at the end of this game
transplantbillsfan replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ironically the 2 things you're mad about contradicted each other. He accepted the penalty because he trusted his D. Later, he basically admitted he called the timeout because he didn't trust his D. To me, that TO was criminal. -
No. They need to do that play 2 times in a row quickly. Wasting that timeout might be the worst coaching blunder since Denver last year. 3 timeouts with the Rams on the 30 with 50+ seconds remaining and a FG to win it and you ABSOLUTELY still have a chance.
