  1. What's gotta help Josh at least a bit is his physique. None of the running QBs I can think of other than Cam Newton are big and strong like him. He said in an interview a few weeks ago he's playing at 245. Now yes, Newton is essentially outta the league, but ironically it's because he basically has a dead arm and has lost any passing ability he once had. He's still a pretty excellent runner even at 32 and as far as I can recall he hasn't been too injury ridden over his career (if at all...?) while running. Generally Josh's running style also doesn't lend itself as much to the dreaded non-contact ACL/MCL tears like Lamar or Rg3.
  2. Josh Allen has now been an Elite QB for 2 years. He's going to be 26 by next season. I love him. He can have my babies... and I'm a dude. Regardless, even though he sure as hell seems like Superman... he's not. I watch Josh Allen and firmly believe this team will win multiple Super Bowls with him as our QB regardless, but how long will he last playing the way he has played the last 2 years? I say 2 years because I think these last 2 years were about the sweet spot of the run/pass ratio. So what do you guys think about how long he can last with this playing style? And for some references as far as some notable "running" QBs compared with JA over the career and 2020-2021 run% of total QB plays. Josh Allen (4 years): 21.1% (but it's been 18.4% the last 2 years) Russell Wilson (10 year): 17.9% Mike Vick (13 years with 2 year hiatus): 27.1% Cam Newton (11 years): 25% Steve Young (15 years): 17.4% Randall Cunningham (16 years): 18% Lamar Jackson (4 years): 46.3% John Elway (16 years): 10.7% Rg3 (7 years): 24.2% I look at all of this and wonder if our Super Bowl window without adjustment is 5 years. I don't think this will be a huge problem because he's smart and is incredibly well built physically. Still makes you wonder if he will last til he's 40.
  3. Zone is when Beasley's at his best.
  4. I think the other poster's perspective on it is the way the Bills will approach it, though. It's only a savings of $1.5 million to cut him. Star would be a fantastic backup/rotational DT. He was still pretty good on the field this year.
  5. I tend to agree. I hope we can resign Phillips and I hope Zimmer comes back healthy. Having Oliver and Phillips as our starters with Zimmer and Star able to rotate in next year seems like a pretty darn good DT rotation.
  6. They actually speculate more that he'll take a pay cut, but wouldn't be surprised if he's cut.
  7. Oh and also, this little nugget But in all the turnover came a small clue about what to expect from the Bills’ offseason. When fielding questions at his introductory news conference, Schoen alluded to what he was doing for the Bills leading up to getting hired by the Giants. “I was working towards free agency,” he said. “We were gonna have some money over there.” we're cutting players and freeing up money.
  8. https://theathletic.com/3110889/2022/02/03/forecasting-bills-2022-cap-casualty-candidates-including-mitch-morse-cole-beasley-and-star-lotulelei/ Basically the prediction is we keep Morse and Beasley... that's it. Whether cut or potentially traded (Ford), the prediction is that D Williams, Klein, Star, Feliciano, Matakevich, Ford, & Hack are all gone. If that were all to hold true, cutting those players would give us just over $24 million in Cap savings. I still wish we would make every effort to resign McKenzie and cut Beasley, who is a $7.6 million Cap hit this coming season.
  9. Honest question... who filled in this blank in 2018 Josh Allen is the next ____________________. Truly, has thereever been another QB similar to Allen? Incredible physical tools but insanely raw. Unimpressive college production and drafted almost solely for physical tools and mental makeup. And then an Elite NFL QB after just 3 years in the league. Would Brett Favre fit in that blank? I don't even know if he would, but maybe he's the only guy I can think of. I don't think there's going to be another Josh Allen and I think Josh Allen may have broken a lot of teams' scouting departments for years to come.
  10. Yes. Knox is a good Tight End who still has the potential to turn into an Elite Tight End. Sign him at the good Tight End price now, please.
  11. Dorsey is fresh takes but it's also generally continuity of system. They're going to change verbiage but probably widely keep the same system Josh has been operating over the last 4 years with some individual differences sprinkled in from Dorsey. The system was never the problem with Daboll. He absolutely has a brilliant offensive mind. I often questioned his playcalling and, by virtue, his instincts. And the hope is that Dorsey, who played QB at a pretty high level at one point, has better instincts for playcalling than Daboll. Like maybe don't hand the ball off 3 times in a row and then punt on your first possession out of the half on the road in a divisional round @ KC.
  12. Thought this would happen 2 years ago... glad it did
  13. Buffalo plays both the Bengals and Rams on the road next season. The Super Bowl winner will open the 2022 season against Buffalo on Thursday, September 8th. The only reason that might not happen is because the NFL wants a rematch of Buffalo @ KC on Sunday night. One of those 3 teams will be our opponent.
  14. Allen and Mahomes are 1a and 1b right now. I think when Allen gets a Super Bowl next year he separates himself
  15. No. 2021 was the "bumpy" year. Were you asleep all year? I actually expect Allen to be an absolute Monster next year. My big question is how the rest of the team, particularly the defense, will perform...?
  16. Really valid point... I am going to put that in the OP because it tells the story
  17. I don't know the details of Allen’s contract, but I thought when he signed it I remember him or Beane saying that part of the beauty of the deal is the flexibility it affords the team. Come on guys... anyone frowning upon Allen taking the "max deal" (and is that actually what it was or will end up being in retrospect) is ridiculous. Brady took less because he has a wife whose net worth is $400 million. Allen comes from a farming family. Good for him to get paid. That said, I'm 100% sure if he feels his contract is hindering the team, he'd be willing to get creative with Beane in a restructure. Our Super Bowl window is open AT LEAST for another 5 if not 10-15 years assuming Allen stays healthy.
  18. He's good enough in a rotation with another RB. We need to get rid of Moss, though.
  19. Why would Dorsey walk away from a Unicorn QB in Josh Allen (who lobbied for him the day after the KC game) for a horrible QB in Daniel Jones or an unknown? Unless there's bad blood with someone in the organization, it doesn't make any sense at all to make a lateral move from sure thing to big question mark.
  20. Who cares. Ken Dorsey will be our OC. He's been groomed. It's actually an exciting change to me. Let's all remember that Josh is our 250 million dollar man and he'll be able to give input not just into our new OC but the plays he likes and doesn't like.
  21. I think this is a great point. I want there to be some kind of light switch installed in Josh. Off = Passing can get the job done so don't run and if you do go OB or slide On = Beast Mode. Someone else can come up with a different name for copyright purposes... but that’s pretty accurate. I want Josh to be our QB and playing at a high level for the next 15+ years. Running is just one of the things that makes him so incredible... we need the on/off switch so he doesn't turn into Cam Newton.
  22. It's fine to call Burrow and Herbert great. What riles us up is that Allen is better than them... clearly better than them. And there's still a seeming stubbornness among what are probably a lot of the analytics guys in the business. If there's anything I think we should notice after this weekend (and based on Beane's comments, I think he does) it's that we need offensive weapons that can run after the catch. All of the teams remaining in the playoffs are top 10 in YAC in the NFL with KC at #1, Cincy at #4, SF at #8 and LAR and #10. Having weapons like Chase, Samuel, Hill, Kelce & Kupp and having a gameplan that gets them quick short passes that they can potentially take to the house has been severely lacking in Buffalo's offense. What riles us up is that it's so obvious that Josh Allen essentially has to carry the team on his back and has done it successfully without legitimately Elite weapons like those other teams. And for as fantastic and blue-chip as I think Diggs and Davis are, their strengths are not YAC. We need that please.
  23. Whoa... is that right? He's older than Allen? Crazy!
  24. Sacks Per Game & Sack Percentage Per game 2018: 2.3 2019: 2.4 2020: 1.6 2021: 1.5 Percentage 2018: 7.59% and 21st in the NFL (Josh missed games, though) 2019: 7.12% and 21st in the NFL 2020: 4.66% and 7th in the NFL 2021: 3.89% and 2nd in the NFL (Brady & Bucs at #1) In 2019 Allen was the 10th most sacked QB in the NFL. In 2021 he was the 27th most sacked QB in the NFL. Does this say something about Allen's progression in the mental aspects of the game, including pre-snap, or are you attributing this mostly to OL?
