We all know the Carolina pipeline is real and with Beane there helping to draft him and Dorsey in Carolina his rookie year this gets even more realistic. The proposal (by Spotrac) is to trade Beasley and a 3rd & 5th round pick for McCaffery as he takes the role he's theoretically better suited for as a slot WR. Of course he'd be able to play more of the hybrid WR/RB role that kinda took over the league last year and we know he'd be effective if he can stay healthy... and we all know that's a big if. And as for what we could afford, it'd basically be an even trade in terms of what we owe Beas and what we'd owe McCaffery. I completely acknowledge this would be a gamble because the guy just can't stay healthy, but turning him into a slot WR has gotta help with that a bit. The best ability is availability and McCaffery has been unavailable so much, but I actually this might be the reason the Panthers would be willing to part with him. And when he is on the field, he's one of the best players in the NFL. I know we have a thread asking about players that might push us over the hump and I was gonna put this in there, but I think this very specific proposal for this player would be intriguing. I like this idea better than trading for Saquan as RB1.

But they didn't. And the fact that they were close road games that could've went either way is even more of an indication of our need for home field advantage...

Backup QB kinda matters... especially for Josh's style of play. I don't think he gets injured, but most would say his style of play makes him more likely to get injured. So among all the positions the Bills absolutely have to fill with multiple players, I see only 2: QB & CB

Lost in the offseason discussion seems to be that we now only have 1 QB on our roster: Josh Allen Beane's approach last offseason to bring Trubisky in makes me doubt we'll let a 5th round drafted rookie QB be 1 snap away from getting under center, which means one of our FA acquisitions this offseason is going to be a vet FA QB... which costs money. PLUS one of our draft picks is likely going to be a QB because... well... we only have Josh... and unlike the Matrix... there CANNOT be only one... QB... on an NFL roster

How exactly can a case be made that Burrow is the best QB in the AFC? I don't even think that's a reasonable argument in any way. Mahomes and Allen are really the only 2 QBs you can make an argument for with Herbert a bit behind them. I'm SO glad the Bengals didn't win the Super Bowl!!! This "Is Joe Burrow the best QB in the NFL" narrative would have been so annoying. Dude had a defense that played lights out in the playoffs and one of the NFL's best RBs while he throws 5 TDs, 2 INTs and is sacked 19 times. Ridiculous.

Not at all. The NFL is more exciting than it ever was... as proven throughout the playoffs and Super Bowl and especially in the Bills game in the divisional round. Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Buffow are some of the most exciting QBs to watch in decades... the NFL is in good hands. I just wish we could come out on the winning end of these important games.

Started a thread weeks ago predicting the Bills would be the Thursday night season opener. If it's not Bills vs. Rams that night, it'll be us going to KC on Sunday Night.

This is about the entire team and I think it's reasonable to put heavier weight on the most critical aspects of the team, particularly Quarterback play and coaching. The arguments would seem to be: Step Back: Allen regressed, which is pretty obvious in his stats. The team lost 2 more games, including 1 to the worst team in the NFL. In 2021 Buffalo was 2-4 against playoff teams in the regular season. Buffalo swept the division in 2020 and was 3-2 against playoff teams in the regular season. Buffalo won fewer playoff games reaching only the divisional round after getting to the AFC Conference Championship the year before. Buffalo didn't win ANY one score games in 2021 and really seemed to lack resilience in close games after going 5-1 in one score games in 2020, with the only loss coming on a Hail Murray. Step Forward: QB is the absolute most important position and Allen may not have had the statistics, but he had better command of the offence and his statistics were largely hurt by factors out of his control like weather. He was also lights out and flawless in the playoffs against a Bill Belicheck coached defense and on the road against the Chiefs. The team came into the season on everybody else's hit list and still managed to win the AFC East and win 12 games. They proved they can beat Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City in Kansas City in the regular season. The Bills had the highest point differential in the NFL. Buffalo finally discovered a running game with Singletary and found a seemingly solid starting 5 on OL moving forward to protect Allen and make sure we aren't so one-dimensional. Add whatever else needs to be added for your argument. I realize I said nothing about coaching and defense... mainly I don't even know if I know what to make of those 2 things.

I don't really think Josh compares to anyone, but Elway is probably the closest with a bit of Steve Young mixed in.

You're absolutely right. This was done at night while drinking. I mixed up completions with attempts for that number for Josh. The run percentage did, in fact, go down. It was 18.4%.

I 100% agree with you, but it's still fun to speculate and regardless of how well built Allen is, he's still human. If I had to guess Allen could play like this and last another 10 years without severe adjustment to his game, but considering how hard we know he works in the offseason and how much of a competitor he is it wouldn't surprise me if he took the Tom Brady obsessive approach to taking care of his body and Allen plays like this to 40 or beyond.
