And honestly... Josh's 10 best plays from his rookie year might be better than the 10 best plays you'll find from any other QB in the NFL over the course of their careers maybe outside Rodgers & Mahomes:

transplantbillsfan replied to Heitz's topic in Off the Wall
Been a few months since I've been here and scrolled back and since I've seen no discussion of it I want to ask: Has anyone watched Midnight Mass and what did you think? I honestly think as far as limited series goes it's easily in my top 5 and more likely in my top 3. True Detective season 1 will forever be hard to beat. As far as other shows, I see people talking about Reacher. Loved it! Cruised right through it! (I typed that sentence without the pun intended... but... pun intended now) If you are willing to try something a little different, Schmigadoon on Apple TV + is actually really good. It's a satire/parody of old 1950s musicals... and yes... it's a bit of a musical. Keenan Michael-Key and Cecily Strong are the main stars, but it has a bunch of other really good actors you'll recognize. If you're into some dry British comedy with a bit of history (yes, it's actually based loosely on a true story), the first 3 episodes of Our Flag Means Death are out on HBO Max. Wife and I love it. -
Allen didn't really suck his rookie season if you're comparing him to his peers: Other rookie QBs. I'm no NFL film guru or nearly on the level of posters like @GunnerBill as far as scouting knowledge, etc, but Allen's rookie season is the only thing I've ever actually took extensive time to do anything close to film review... and I did it in comparison to his peers. And as far as ball accuracy, Allen was on the level (arguably better) as far as accuracy goes on his passes. Accuracy was the big thing everyone pointed to his rookie season because of his low completion percentage and his turnover rate, but the truth is Allen's biggest issue his rookie year was what any rookie QB's issue is their rookie year: Decision making. But he was also such a stud athlete that he could make up for some of those bad decisions with his legs. The narrative even amongst experts and pundits who love Allen now like Colin Cowherd are that he was godawful for his first 2 years and just suddenly the light turned on in year 3 and that was just far from the case.

I'm confused about what this thread has turned into, but if the following is true... 1) Farwell wanted to squib kick and told the Special Teams guys (except Bass) that's what we were doing. 2) McDermott told Farwell we were kicking a touchback and taking no time off the clock, so Farwell said nothing to Bass. 3) Buffalo was focused on preventing a KC TD at the end of regulation without focus on a FG. ...that's terrifying moving forward as a Bills fan. Sean McDermott might be on a similar path to Mike McCarthy if that's true. That doesn't bode well for Buffalo. Has there been anything to refute the main points made in all that "speculation?"

Which WR do you think the Bills will draft?
transplantbillsfan replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wow. Really? I am completely unfamiliar with college players, but Gabe Davis has been incredibly impressive the last 2 years. For one thing he seems to have some of the best sideline awareness in the NFL. Plus he's big, powerful and a really good route runner already. Anyone else in this thread agree with this poster's assessment? -
Which WR do you think the Bills will draft?
transplantbillsfan replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just listened to a PFF podcast from a couple days ago about the draft as a whole with guests Jon Ledyard and Dane Brugler. Consensus seems to be that the class is incredibly deep with what will ultimately be really good number 2 NFL WRs and there are no truly alpha number 1s like in previous years. This bodes well for Buffalo. I never know much about college players until the season ends and I start getting interested in the draft, but I voted Jameson Williams. Part of me voting for him is the fact that now that we've given Beasley permission to seek a trade I believe we'll try to ink li'l dirty to a multi-year deal to take Cole's place more permanently. And that might be more hope than anything on my part. Regardless, if we do that I think this team has 4 WR slots on the roster established (Diggs, Davis, McKenzie, & Stevenson who I think becomes our primary returner to take the load off our now permanent slot) and we'll probably bring in a middle of the road vet FA to compete with the younger guys on our roster like Hodgins for a 5th spot. Sanders said if he comes back to play it will be with Josh Allen so we can't rule him out for the 5th spot, either. Plus we can't rule out bringing Kumerow back for the important added Special Team's value. All of that could set up a virtual redshirt year for a guy who might've been the #1 WR in this class if not for his injury. If Davis plays well this season hopefully we can get him signed to a long term deal and then Buffalo is set up with a WR corps of Diggs, Davis, Williams and McKenzie through the 2025 season. That's a lot of projecting and a lot of hope, but I think that's the ideal plan. However, 2 big questions: 1) Do we actually resign McKenzie? Maybe more importantly, does his love for Josh Allen (clearly there) outweigh his friction with Sean McDermott (clearly there)? 2) Are we targeting our CB2 in FA or the draft? I do believe round 1 is either CB or WR. If McKenzie isn't back... gonna need a fast and versatile slot guy who can play this season... might have to wait til round 2 to draft him. Who is that? Anyone? -
Jackson's comments disturb me, but not the one everyone is critiquing. Really he was just responding to a comment from LeBron James directly stating the bias is still there. Here's the comment that's disturbing if you're a Baltimore fan: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33423500/baltimore-ravens-lamar-jackson-says-racial-bias-black-quarterbacks-there-nfl Asked what lessons he hopes to take from James as he grows, Jackson said, "Everything. And being a champion. I feel like that's the one thing I want to take from him, if anything else. You know, being a champion. Being a billionaire. That's what I've been thinking about ever since I was a little kid, being a billionaire and being a champion." Notice at the end there he switched it around so that being a billionaire was first on his priority list... Yikes!

I would want McCaffery, but no way in heck do you trade a 1st for him. Now that Beasley has actually been given permission to seek a trade, one of the dominos of the OP appears to be falling. But no... we keep our 1st and 2nd at the very least. You only start considering making this trade when you're giving up a 3rd or likely a 4th round pick along with Beas

Well if he returns Buffalo is the betting favorite for landing him... so there's that. https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/2022/02/bills-are-betting-favorite-for-rob-gronkowski-if-he-returns-in-2022.html?outputType=amp

Kareem Hunt: Cut candidate. Possible 2022 Bill?
transplantbillsfan replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall
https://www.tmz.com/videos/0-exjrtvg5/ I dunno... maybe the reason the Chiefs cut him in the first place. -

Any of the 3 big QBs in play (Rodgers, Wilson or Watson if he can play) to Miami. That's about it. -
Kareem Hunt: Cut candidate. Possible 2022 Bill?
transplantbillsfan replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall
Without reading any responses, I would think the conversation would be about how he doesn't have the character to be a McBeane guy... and that's absolutely right. -
Why can't we get the next Superstar AND McCaffery? It's not like we don't have 9 draft picks and potentially 1 or 2 compensatory picks coming. Beane and his scouting department can still find the next superstar in the mid to later rounds (Kamara, AB, Tyreek Hill, Diggs, etc.) while acquiring an established superstar... when healthy.
-
So you're okay keeping a slot WR who's turned into peanut brittle at his age rather than exchanging him for a much younger but much more dynamic weapon? And hell... why not 10 touches a game? That's more than what Beasley gets? It's more than what Diggs, Davis or Knox gets, too. I went back and looked and had to double check, but McCaffery was injury free his first 3 years in the NFL and only actually got the injury bug the last 2 years, unlike a guy like Saquan Barkley or Dalvin Cook who are injured every year. Yes, this would be a bit of a roll of the dice, but given our strapped Cap, we might find it worthwhile gambling on an Elite 25 year old NFL talent.
-
McCaffery is 25 years old. He's younger than Joe Burrow. He's also an even swap in terms of CAP hit if we traded Beasley. There's risk involved, but McCaffery basically had to shoulder the whole Panther team and he's just not built for it. In Buffalo he'd be playing with an Elite playmaker at QB and an Elite WR and could be a complimentary but dangerous weapon on our offense. I will be okay with what Beane does, but where is our guaranteed playmaker on the field in the draft? That's exactly what McCaffery is if he's healthy and on the field.
-
He'd be less than a $7M cap hit this upcoming season. And it's funny because I know you're attempting to be sarcastic with the rest of what you're saying... but you aren't pulling it off very well. Yes McCaffery is an often injured running back... because he's not built to be an every down RB. Making him a hybrid RB/slot WR makes a ton of sense and saves him from a lot of big hits. I hope you can at least acknowledge that when he's on the field and healthy he's one of the best weapons in the NFL. Beasley's contract would make it almost an even exchange. Would you trade McCaffery for Beasley straight up? That's kinda a rhetorical question because you'd be a moron if you wouldn't... so how much extra draft capital becomes acceptable?
