Why does it most likely still give KC home field advantage? Why do you assume the Bills and Bengals would be playing 3 games? I agree there's no easy answer. This is completely unprecedented, obviously. I can see what you're saying about the fact that there's a competitive disadvantage for all the Wildcard teams getting an extra week off while Buffalo and Cincy play a game. But I'd be genuinely curious about what the players believe is more valuable: Homefield advantage OR Bye week I obviously don't have an answer and you clearly believe the bye week is more valuable, but just look at McDermott's teams in the playoffs at home vs. on the road. Toss in the fact that players get to sleep in their own beds and see their families every day of the week and honestly, I think the Bills players really value those home games, and unless KC loses to the Raiders (unlikely, but anything's possible), Buffalo automatically loses the #1 seed no matter what they do this weekend. And in Cincy's defense, if KC actually does lose to the Raiders, Cincy won't have the opportunity to earn the #1 seed they would have otherwise earned from beating Buffalo. Again, I disagree that your choice limits it as much as possible. But what I do think is that the 2 teams will be front and center in the conversation. And you're absolutely right that both teams decide to not play because they'd be "going back to the scene of the crime," so to speak. Those Wildcard teams wouldn't know who they're playing until the game is complete, though.

I get it. I don't disagree. Hamlin first. But I don't think that's how the NFL operates. They're not going to penalize both the Bills and Bengals because of the tragedy tonight. The season will continue. The NFL is almost certainly currently meeting trying to figure out how to do it with both respect for the gravity of the situation and fairness for the teams involved.

Thanks for the bulletin board material Ironically I'm in the Championship game of my Fantasy league. Burrow is my QB and my opponent has Allen I also have Chase, Davis, Mixon, and Singletary. I'm now sitting Mixon in favor of Singletary because of that comment. I hope I lose or Allen finds Davis as his primary target and Singletary goes off.

Yes, he is. You seem to actually be making my point for me considering what you just said about Cook. Pacheko, CEH and McKinnon. It's 4% more per game. Might seem inconsequential to you but those extra 2.6 rushing attempts per game in a game where you run 65.3 plays matters. And yes, both Buffalo and KC run 65.3 plays per game. How long has Toney been with them? Point was that he’s depth. They have an experienced 1st round WR as their depth. You should be comparing him to Juju, not MVS. Kelce is their #1, Juju is their #2. Ummmm.... what??? Sooooo.... are you saying both teams have strong or weak talent? I know you just felt like chiming in, but I was responding to something @GunnerBill said. So you have me confused Yeah... and he was meh. I feel like you don't actually read the posts you respond to.

Except you're wrong because he's currently got the 3rd or 4th highest odds depending on the place you check. And here's one more thing in Allen’s favor: He plays in primetime this week against one of the other favorites while Mabomes basically finishes the season out with 2 clunkers in the 1 o'clock time slot. And I wouldn't predict anything because this game worries me, but Josh Allen historically is just plain special in standalone primetime games. Burrow has been up and down in his... in fact, I almost wonder a little if Allen’s experience over the last 3 or 4 years and Burrow's relative inexperience plays a factor on Monday. If (and yes... it's an if) Josh has a game similar to or better than the way he played against the Dolphins, I guarantee you that regardless of whatever happens with the Chiefs he is back in the relevant conversation. All that said, give me a W... and I don't care how we get it.

Now do the Bills weapons. You don't honestly think the Bills have better weapons than the Chiefs, do you? Both teams have 1 Elite weapon right now, I agree. Obviously Diggs and Kelce. Outside of that which team has the better RBs? Love Singletary and Cook, but the Chiefs have an effective 3-headed monster. And what's more, the Chiefs stick with the run, unlike Buffalo... takes a lot of pressure off a QB. Chiefs have 39 more rushing attempts this season than Buffalo once you take away QB rushing attempts. As for WRs, JuJu has almost 900 yards, Valdez-Scantling has almost 700 and is averaging 17 yards per catch, McKinnon is a better WR than RB since he's got almost double the production in the passing game, plus their depth consists of 1st round talents like Moore and Toney. I get that Hill is all-world and a future 1st ballot HOFer (incredible that Mahomes had 2 of the best RAC guys in the NFL In 2 future 1st balloters but it was really always all about Mahomes with no context), but Mahomes wasn't left with scraps after he left. And maybe most importantly... he has Reid and Bienamy creating production. Behind Diggs, Josh has Gabe Davis who has been probably a lower end number 2 this year and seems to have stepped back rather than forward. And then? Knox has been nice the last few games but he's still dropping too many passes. McKenzie? Shakir? Really? Our WR corps outside of Diggs has been so bad we brought back a 32 and a 33 WR out of retirement or sitting on their couches at home and a lot of us strongly believe the 33 year old is going to make a significant difference moving forward. Just typing all that out, it makes me realize even more that Josh Allen should be MVP if MVP were actually Most Valuable Player.

Forgive me, but you don't know what you're talking about. Sometimes Allen looks bad, but it's often the direct result of essentially carrying the team on his shoulders... and needing to. Before you make claims try actually watching the QBs you reference. Who are you, Nick Wright? Burrow and Mahomes have had utterly awful games over the last couple years (I started posting the bad games from those guys... go look them up... it's exhausting trying to type them for you). And I say the last couple years because we can just throw away years 1 & 2 for Josh because that's when he was actually fixing his mechanics and decisiontryouts king. Do those problems from earlier creep up occasionally? Yep. Do they stick around for entire games? C'mon man... Alex Smith's consistent success with the Chiefs proves your point

Well... last time Mahomes played the Broncos he threw 3 INTs, so there's that. And then it's the Raiders in Vegas and ya never know with divisional opponents. Meanwhile the 2 are neck and neck in TDs, yards, and wins. Allen has the head to head and if Primetime Josh shows up against the Bengals for a W that'll be a huge statement. Yes Josh has several more Turnovers. The team has also dealt with a lot more adversity than Kansas City. Will Josh win it? Probably not. Can he? Sure. Hurts is almost certainly out of the race at this point having to likely sit multiple games. We all saw the drastic climb back up the odds latter last week after his performance against the Phins. Another Primetime performance next week and he'll be #2 in odds behind Mahomes and probably within striking distance. 1 fewer TD for Mahomes. Still 2 games left.

Anyone else think Gabe Davis kinda sucks? Can we do an even exchange with the Giants to get Hodgins back? Zero effort to come back to the football in the EZ along with the fumble and the lack of sideline awareness as the icing on the cake. He almost looks like he just doesn't care out there. Outside of Diggs, our offensive weapons are pretty blah. Probably should be considered.

Bills win. That's all that matters. In terms of MVP race I think it's exactly the same as it was coming into the game. No steps forward. No steps back. Yes, I understand 2 bad Interceptions. Allen also wound up with 3 TDs and his team had a dominant scorebox win. Maybe a tiny step back, but he's still in the race. Wonder if the voters look at all the inclement weather these QBs have played in. What I think this all comes down to is the Cincy game next week. A side note. We targeted Diggs 2 or 3 times today. Anyone else think Dorsey was thinking about next week's game and holding a bunch of offensive looks in his back pocket?

Oh come on. Former member of the media or not, if Josh Allen wins his final 3 games (this means the team would have won 8 in a row and be the #1 seed) and plays like he did on Saturday in 2 of the 3 or maybe even just 1 of the 3 (as long as it's the Cincy game) Allen will probably win the award. In terms of narratives, you should understand that the NFL is a week to week league. 3 games is a lifetime by NFL standards

Week 16: Bills at Bears on Christmas Eve
transplantbillsfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gotta love that Buffalo always ends up in these games -
Ummm... it's not Joe Schmoe who votes for MVP. It's guys who pay attention across the league, like Peter King, who is one of the voters. Here's what he just said in MMQB: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/12/19/chandler-jones-raiders-immaculate-reception-peter-king-fmia-week-15/ This is by far the toughest week I’ve had in the divining of the MVP. The top three could be in any order, and number four could be number one by season’s end. My list: Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia (13-1). Takes what the D gives him, and on Sunday in Chicago, the D gave him the run. Hurts ran for three scores, and the Eagles, two games clear of the NFL field this morning, won by five. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City (11-3). Four more TD throws and 477 more passing yards than anyone in the game, and his 87.8-percent completion rate Sunday is the best in history for a passer with more than 40 attempts in a game. “If he’s not the MVP, I don’t know who is,” Andy Reid told me. “He took a whole new group of [receivers] and got them ready to win. Think about it. Who are we going to in the passing game? [Travis] Kelce. Now [Mecole] Hardman’s hurt. Then who? They’re all new. Patrick worked all off-season to get those guys ready and look at the results.” Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo (11-3). Played a masterful game Saturday night, coming back from eight points down in the fourth quarter as Buffalo basically ended the race in the AFC East by beating Miami. Allen has a great sense of when to hang in the pocket and when to scramble.

Probably. But that doesn't mean they should. The actual thought process when all statistics are relatively similar among the candidates (as they are right now... and Josh may close that gap more) is how much of a drop there would be for the team if that player were taken away. If that's the benchmark, Josh wins.
