  1. See this is kinda the reason I'm wondering if Campbell will be the guy we target. McDermott was the Panthers DC when Kuechly was drafted and for his first 5 years in the league. As for the desire for Sanders because of his pass rushing ability, was Kuechly a great pass rusher? Campbell seems like more of a true old school well-rounded MLB with good run stopping and coverage ability and great instincts. Sanders sounds more raw. I just think as McDermott's 1st year calling the defense, he'd look at a Kuechly-like MLB with googly eyes. We already have our pass rushing/blitzing LB in Milano.
  2. We all know the hole to fill. Yes it's possible the Edmunds replacement is on our roster, but c'mon... who really doesn't think we're adding an ILB???? Jack Campbell has been the buzz since the Combine. Yet, The Athletic just came out with their top 100. Here's what they said about him: Campbell has excellent size to take on blocks in the box, and he’s more than willing to do so. An effective communicator pre-snap, Campbell plays with good awareness to discern play concepts and effectively play the run. He flashes the ability to stack and shed climbing offensive linemen while being a sound tackler. But he will let the game come to him at times instead of being the aggressor. He is a good athlete, but it doesn’t always show because he plays in a controlled manner — there are times you wish he used his gifts more. Campbell’s awareness does carry over against the pass. He is at his best in zone, where he can read the game, make plays on the ball and get into passing lanes. He’s also a fluid enough mover to hold his own in man. Campbell has the size and athleticism to quickly adjust to the NFL. He doesn’t always play to his testing numbers, but if he becomes more comfortable, he has the ideal traits and play style to be a three-down linebacker. I don't know about anyone else, but there were many parts of that report that absolutely screamed Buffalo. It'd be amazing if we got him in the 2nd, but wouldn't be shocked if we took him in the 1st.
  3. Pretty awesome. Love the dude. Position is set for this year. That said, our DT position is pretty screwed starting in 2024 with absolutely no one currently under contract beyond this season.
  4. I'm at the point I'm excited regardless whether we get him or not. If we get him... yay!!! If we don't... trade for Jeudy??? trade for Hunter Renfrow???? Trade up for JSN??? WR in the 1st???? It's obvious Beane is still trying to upgrade the WR room... That's exciting, isn't it?
  5. This is getting ridiculous. So much smoke. Where's the fire?
  6. Watch this turn into a fiasco similar to what's going on with Rodgers
  7. Why? This is such a doomsday perspective. We've already upgraded our OL. James Cook >>>> Devin Singletary Plus Hines and Harris get mixed in the running game. Our WR corps still has the same 2 guys at the top in Diggs and Davis. Harty is probably an upgrade over McKenzie. Shakir has a year under his belt. And Sherfield can actually play on offense. Plus we still have the draft. And Dorsey has a year's worth of experience as an OC. Your post makes zero sense.
  8. I'll get behind this if we do it (for a reasonable price), but am I the only thinking he's not ideal? He's gonna be 31 this season. So what... we get 2 possibly good years out of him and pay him a boatload of cash? And I'm sure it's been talked about, but how's Diggs handling this? I think it would work out if we got him and we'd immediately have the best WR corps in the NFL, but it just doesn't match the whole team building mantra McBeane have pushed. I'd prefer trading for Jerry Jeudy or trading up for JSN if we're trading anything away.
  9. Good signing. Sherfield was pretty good with the Phins.
  10. Can't this thread just be merged with the other Jeudy one? But yes. Clearly you do it
  11. He is. I like him. But don't pay him. Cook is better. If the market dries out and he'll come back for an AAV less than $5 mil, pay him.
  12. When Edmunds said he was going to test the market I thought more and more that Poyer would be back. And I love it! As far as the vocal/emotional/heart and soul leader of not just the defense but the entire team, Poyer is more important than Edmunds. And let's remember that he’s just 1 year removed from an All-Pro season. He hasn't been an injury prone player over his career... just last year. 23 & 21 back at it!!! Anyone know the contract details? OP could you post them on page 1?
  13. More proof Diggs isn't going anywhere
  14. Joe Marino liked it, too. As for the Saffold thing... most would agree that Saffold was pretty good before this year, so you might be right about the "puff video," but that wouldn't necessarily be an indictment so much on Cover 1 as Saffold's free fall this season. Are you sure this isn't just an ego driven post trying to slam others who do what you do?
  15. Erik Turner at Cover 1 likes him
  16. This idea of hiding contracts ignores what happens in year 2 or year 3 of said contract. If we haven't retained Edmunds at what would have been a minimum $8 or $9 million CAP hit, using that money on one of the highest impact players on your defense over the last 5 or 6 years and biggest locker room guys might not be unwise. I'm not predicting it happens, but if Edmunds walks, I'll be happy if it happens. Safety is INCREDIBLY important in McDermott's defenses.
  17. Not gonna lie, if Edmunds is gone, I want Poyer back. Make it a 2 year deal. Dude was still playing at such a high level this season even with 6 injuries. He has an entire offseason to heal up. If I could choose between Edmunds or Poyer I'd bring Edmunds back, but that doesn't look like it's happening and honestly his pricetag and lack of impact plays just makes me hesitate. Poyer, on the other hand, is the vocal heart and soul of the defense and played really well in 2022 despite all the injuries and being without his running mate. Why not? Bring him back.
  18. Only...? Considering the number of 1 yard TD runs and 3rd and shorts that's pretty incredible
  19. Isn't Tremaine still on the team and FA over a week away? Have we heard a bad word out of McBeane about him. Not saying it happens, but I think it's premature to pretend we can't retain Edmunds if we really want to, especially considering his age. Make it a 6 year deal and frontload it with a big signing bonus. Makes the CAP hit this year 7-9 million, which doesn't hurt the team in terms of FA for other positions and keeps a player we drafted and developed, which is a big McBeane philosophy.
