Me too. Taylor's a lot better than Osweiler or Siemian.

If that's the way we're rolling, no problem. If McDermott's goal is to tank I think that's going to generally become clear if he starts Peterman. The problem is that sure didn't seem to be the goal as we started 5-2. What sure looked like a tank to start the season became the typical season we saw over the last 17 years. So sure, if our goal is to tank then I expect McDermott to start Peterman. But the problem is those vets in the locker room he'll have to answer to... especially guys like Lorax and Meatball he reportedly convinced to come back for one more season and a shot at the playoffs. So yeah, if his goal is to tank, you're right that it's no problem to start Peterman. But considering the fact that the guy on the bench would clearly be better than the starter on the field then this coach would have to basically just come out and say he's tanking. He screwed up the tank. If he wanted it, he should have started Peterman from game 1.

People are idiots. I'm sorry, but it's just true. My Dad and I argued for 20 minutes after the game yesterday about how bad Peterman actually was and he kept pointing to the Offensive Line. We just had to say until next week and Happy Thanksgiving because it's this incredibly stupid and hypocritical hard-headed behavior that persists amongst so many people that they use an excuse like that for Peterman without realizing that that's exactly why Taylor needs to be our starting QB. Honestly it's just head-scratching the way people actually think if you argue that Taylor is a capable NFL starting QB you're somehow arguing that he's great. It's not "He's great!!!" or "He sucks!!!" folks! Reality is in the middle. It's that Taylor is a capable NFL starter. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't or can't upgrade. But it means we shouldn't be throwing games in order to watch a dumpster fire unfold.

Yeah I agreed Taylor's not the long term answer. How many bad games like that did EJ have? No one's giddy about Nate's failure, Shady. You're more extreme in your view on Taylor in the opposite direction you think I am on him. That's why I used the word "crusade" because it's like you're blinded to the fact that Taylor is simply and clearly the better option than Peterman right now. That does NOT mean that Taylor is our long term answer. We're drafting a QB in round 1 next year and very possibly trading up to do it. Taylor might even still be around in 2018, depending on what happens the rest of this season. But dude, that was AWFUL!!! Way worse than anything EJ's done and waaaAAAAAAaaaaayyy worse than anything Taylor's done. That doesn't mean Taylor's great. He's just not going to give you that kind of awful we saw yesterday. And as I've been saying for a long time, that's Taylor's value. Somewhere in all of what I just said you're piecing everything I've said into a narrative that I think Tyrod Taylor should be our long term QB or that he's one of the best QBs in the NFL. Here are some bullet points to help you understand my exact feelings on this whole QB situation as it relates to the 2017 Buffalo Bills: - The 2017 Buffalo Bills are currently 5-5, the 7th seed, and share the same record as the 6th seed - The 2017 Buffalo Bills are one of the oldest teams in the NFL with several vets who are starters nearing or at the end of their careers: Kyle, Lorax, McCoy, Wood, Incognito, etc. At least a couple of those guys reportedly contemplated retirement in the offseason, but were convinced to come back by a coach who sold them that this team was "Playoff Caliber" - Nate Peterman threw 5 interceptions, all giving the Chargers a short field, 1 a pick 6. Of the 4 remaining interceptions the Chargers got a FG and 2 TDs and also missed a relative gimme FG. That's 24 points off turnovers in the first half when it easily could have been 27. - OH AND HEEEEEYYYYY!!!! Ya know what happened on the 3 drives that didn't result in and interception for Peterman? On our only scoring drive in the 1st half, McCoy runs on 2 plays for 64 yards and a TD and.... WHOOOOOOPS!!!! Two 3 and outs by Peterman!! (Are you seriously still throwing a silver lining out here for Peterman?) - With Tyrod Taylor at QB through 9 games, the Bills were 5-4 and one of only 6 teams in the AFC with a winning record and the 6 seed in the playoff race. - Taylor turned the ball over less times through 9 games than Peterman did in ONE FRIGGIN HALF!!!! - Taylor in those 9 games was still completing over 64% of his passes - Taylor in those 9 games was still responsible for 12 total TDs and 200 yards of offense per game for an offense riddled by injury and sometimes seemingly devoid of skill at skill positions with an OL that demonstrated how much of a sieve it truly is with a "traditional pocket passer" yesterday. - Despite that crap show yesterday, this team has more than just some distant mathematical shot to make the playoffs as a wildcard - The Head Coach talks about a leadership counsel he "listens to" that consists of a lot of those aging vets above. What do you think they'll tell McDermott about QB preference? How do you think those guys will react if Nate's named the starter on Wednesday? Look, we all wanted Nate to succeed. I actually believed he would. I had these visions of him coming out and picking apart the Chargers D and becoming the next Brady. Instead, it looks like my feelings from the preseason were right, at least at this moment. There's a reason we waited until our 2nd pick of the 5th round to draft him. Micah Hyde's "Nate Favre" might be a good description for the kid. He's half of Favre. He has the gunslinger mentality. He doesn't have the arm strength to be a gunslinger. That interception on the right sideline where the defender just anticipated his pass and strolled in front of the WR was exactly the type of interception I thought Nate would be prone to throw. It's the exact same interception Jeff Tuel threw against the Browns for a pick 6 when he replaced EJ Manuel. Like Jeff Tuel, Peterman looked good (not even all that good... not even as good as Tuel did, but acceptable) in the preseason, but was just exposed in regular season action. If McDermott says Peterman's starting on Wednesday, I'll root hard for him to succeed on Sunday. But I just fear he's going to lose whatever grip he currently has on this team if he doesn't announce Taylor is starting on Wednesday. But it's okay, in the end, we'll draft our guy in the 1st round next year. Taylor's not our long term answer. Neither is Peterman. At least we can win with Taylor.

Yeah, well, you don't keep better on the bench while a whole lot worse is killing your team on the field and legitimately losing games for you on the field. You say how can we pretend that the outcome would've been different with Taylor? Are you saying that because you know somehow that the outcome would've been the same? If so, what a laugh PS: You seem to be confusing the posters you have crusades against.

Prescott is really just the example of the tier 2 QBs that I'd put Taylor in. Wrong circumstances - He'll be bad Decent circumstances - He'll look like an NFL starter Great to ideal circumstances - He'll look like a pro bowler and can lead a team on a playoff run The moment you knew Zeke was going to miss games was the moment you had to know Dak would take a big step back. Same with Matt Ryan when Shanahan left. Hey, how's everyone's favorite 2016 QB Derek Carr doing? What's up with Mariota? Too bad in today's world we're seriously victims of the moment and have the memories of goldfish. We can and should be trying to upgrade actively on Taylor, but he's fine until we're able to do that, which I assume will be next draft.

Who starts next week: Taylor or Peterman?

If Peterman starts, I wonder if players are going to bring pillows and blankets onto the field for their in-game naps -

To be fair, Taylor can't just say "see ya" until next offseason if the Bills actually decided to pick up his option on his contract. I don't think they will, and if they do, I think they'll try to trade him on draft day. Regardless, he's still under contract until the end of next year for Buffalo at a relative bargain if we want him. -
Are you friggin kidding me?! We're an absolute embarrassment and you think I'm happy? I'll eat crow, too. I got suckered into the Peterman hype. I legitimately thought Peterman was going to play well today. Actually, I thought this was going to be a serious bounce back game for Buffalo. Boy was I waaaaay off. Peterman was the reason we lost this game more than Taylor has been the reason and any game that he has played. If we wanna tank, let's tank. But we're somehow still.500 and have the same record as the 6th seed. Even trying to tank at this point gives us a draft pick somewhere in the bottom half of the top 10. But McDermott needs to look his players in the eyes on a daily basis and sell them whatever he's smokin. What's really annoying is the fact that tons of people legitimately thought it couldn't get worse than Taylor. And on top of that, people pointed to Peterman and his preseason play as though it was some serious indicator he'd to be a really good NFL QB. Or at least better than Taylor, which apparently isn't very hard. Buncha horsehockey And then when anyone pointed out how good Jeff Tuel looked in the preseason and how abysmal he was when he actually got in the game, people just dismiss that because, in reality, hindsight is 2020 and everyone always just says "I always knew with Tuel." Despite what you think I'm disgusted right now. This team is a $h1+ Show and we're on our way to another middling season. Remember how much better Peterman was supposed to run Dennison's offense? That didn't work. And Dennison is another YUUUUUGE problem.

Most interceptions in a half since 1991. That was sickening. And shocking. I legitimately thought Peterman would come in and play well. Right now he looks like Jeff Tuel 2.0... worse actually. Too many posters here saying our passing game couldn't get any worse. Come eat some crow. At least he was awful enough that we can quickly go back to Taylor and try for a playoff run in our super weak conference

Pure speculation, but I think Dennison came up to McDermott on Monday and expressed his desire for the QB change. Did anyone watch Dennison's PC on Monday? In retrospect, I thought it was interesting the way he talked about what transpired for him the night after the game. He said he called OL coach Waffle in the middle of the night to talk about OL blocking solutions, which is not something he would normally do... at least not in the middle of the night right after the game. But he said he wasn't going to sleep anyway. I think Mcdermott is a really hands off guy when it comes to the offense. More than I thought he might've been. He planned on starting Taylor moving forward Sunday and even Monday, but had a conversation and a lengthy one with Dennison on Monday and went with his OC. -
I guess it's just easy to pile on the team and Taylor here? Vic's take seems pretty damn obvious and logical. Taylor played just atrociously on Sunday and with a couple other showings similar to that this year combined with no really great showings, McBeane had seen enough to know Taylor wasn't the future at the position and they wanted to see a guy who just might be the future. He's just too inconsistent and doesn't play at a high enough level on his best days to warrant anymore time wasted seeing if he could be our future. With the Bills schedule to close the season, they could have made the playoffs with Taylor at the helm. But we likely wouldn't have made any noise in the playoffs and then Taylor would have been the 1st QB since Flutie to lead the team to the playoffs. Completely logical take by Vic. It's probably true to some extent. Shooting for the stars and the future with Peterman or plummet to a higher draft choice with him as we realize he's likely not the future and, at the very least, needs some serious competition in the form of a 1st or 2nd round draft choice. It's a good move for the Bills future, even if it might hurt the team this year. It might really help the team this year, though, and I think that's what we're all really hoping for

Good god please let Tolbert be out!!! He sucks! Put the guy we just acquired last week or the week before in! -
I'm just tired. I agree with you. This is Win-Win for McBeane. He's good or great: Possible Franchise QB considering a rookie and room for improvement He sucks: We know to draft a QB high. And we have the capital to do it. I'm just so sick of our season being over by the beginning of December or Thanksgiving. Please let it be the former, not the latter... though I still think we draft a QB high even if it's the former.

McCoy sounds very unhappy about the switch
transplantbillsfan replied to ProcessTheTrust's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totally disagree. Watched the PC. He's surprised but you make it seem like he's about to stop trying. Sounds like a guy who's about to go out and fight with his new QB.
