  1. How the F is this a Tyrod thread, dumbass? Did you even read the OP?
  2. Yup, you'd have like $20 million total dedicated to the most important position in football with 2 rookie QB contracts. Thusly the sage has spoken, and thus it shall be You wouldn't trade 2 firsts for Andrew Luck? Really?
  3. Again, the Chiefs with Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes would be the blueprint. Darnold in particular from what I've read and heard and seen is pretty raw and needs to work on decision making so maybe the year or half year or whatever it would end up being would greatly benefit him.
  4. Bow out of what??? This isn't the "I love Tyrod Taylor" thread a couple of you are making it out to be. My intention wasn't to talk about Taylor but rather the possibility of Rosen/Darnold/Luck in Buffalo based on what we'd have to give up all assuming/hoping the Colts end up with the #2 pick.
  5. Fine, $2-$4 million, whatever it costs. Back in 2014 the Cap hit for a backup QB in the NFL averaged over $2 million. The Cap hit will be what matters regarding signing other players like the OL. http://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-quarterbacks-salary-cap-hits-2014-10 So factor whatever money you need to get your backup... it's there. Not surprisingly I suppose this is turning into a Taylor discussion. He's here. He's not here. Who cares? The other stuff is what I'd like to see happen, anyway, and it starts with the Colts losing in TNF tomorrow against the Texans!!!
  6. Nah, just look at what Andy Reid and the Chiefs are doing with Alex Smith & Patrick Mahomes. Same blueprint. The cost of keeping Taylor while a rookie comes in and has pressure taken off his shoulders is pretty minimal when you factor everything in. I realize that emotionally everyone will just want a clean slate, but just prepare yourself for a good chance of Taylor still being here next year with the future guy waiting in the wings.
  7. I don't think this is what'll happen. Taylor's contract is set up pretty much perfectly as a bridge contract for a rookie QB to come in and learn on the bench for a bit before taking the reins sometime during the 2018 season or in 2019 when the Bills can part ways with Taylor with no financial hardship, whatsoever. From what I understand, if the Bills cut Taylor, they're going to still take a $6-$8 million CAP hit whereas if they keep him it's something like a $15-$16 million CAP hit. I'm not looking at those numbers so anyone can correct me because I'm sure they're off. Regardless, the point is that the money they save by cutting him is probably less than $10 million and then you'll have to go out and get another QB for the team and you'll probably pay him $5-$6 million. So, $4-$5 million leftover just so you can get your OL? I actually just learned about more about his contract last night from another poster here. Before I thought Taylor was pretty likely not going to be here next year, but from the way I understand it now, it was created largely with the intention of using him as a bridge to the next QB we get in the draft. I know some are just going to emotionally scream that Taylor needs to be off the roster in 2018, but I think there's a pretty high likelihood he's here if McBeane is planning on grabbing our future franchise QB in the draft. If they plan on Luck or a guy like Cousins as our future, they'll find a way to deal Taylor I'm sure.
  8. Obviously the most ideal is that we make a playoff run and win a Super Bowl, but I don't think ANYONE believes that will happen. I don't... I'm hoping, obviously, but don't even remotely think it happens. so... we're left with this... and I think this is the way things would ideally play out in McBeane's mind Bills win out or win 2 of their next 3 games and make the playoffs to get that monkey off our back Giants win a couple games to get to 4 or 5 wins and the Colts lose all of their remaining games. Colts left with #2 draft pick while Giants fall to #3. Bills trade up on draft day with the Colts for the #2 pick to get Darnold/Rosen OR (and this is a pipe dream) we trade for Luck somehow. Yes, I realize if we trade up for Darnold/Rosen, we're giving them 2 firsts this year, a first next year and probably another draft pick or two. If those 2 QBs are as advertised, that's fine. Yes, I realize that if we trade up for Luck, we're going to have to probably give away EVEN MORE draft picks. If Andrew Luck is healthy, that's fine. If it's Rosen/Darnold, we probably keep Taylor who competes/starts the beginning of 2018 with one of those guys set to take the reins during the year of in 2019. We have our QB for the next 15 years If it's Luck, I wonder if we package Taylor in there with a trade and try to accomplish that in the first 4 or 5 days of the new league year when whatever bonus doesn't kick in, yet. We have a generational franchise-changer for the next decade, at least... hopefully. Anyway, regardless, now that the 49ers look like they're falling precipitously in the draft with Jimmy G helping them win, looks like we're rooting for the Colts to lose and the Giants to win... so we helped ourselves out in a couple different ways on Sunday
  9. Sooooo... Peterman is limited in practice today, taking snaps and throwing passes, and is already in stage 4 of the concussion protocol. Be honest now... do you have a source?
  10. Interesting. Then I think it's a lot more likely than most thought that Taylor remains a Bill for the 2018 season. It'll be an interesting offseason, to say the least.
  11. Your counter argument is bogus. Who has EVER called Taylor a top 5 QB?
  12. I don't think it will ever die because I think Football satisfies this inherent barbaric need we have. I think it's just a natural ebb and flow we're seeing, It's still a buttload more popular than it was 15-20 years ago even with this sudden "downturn," which I think has as much to do with viewing habits as anything. Get safety and equipment continually better and suddenly parents will be putting their kids in pads again.
  13. First of all, I'm just going to assume you don't have reading comprehension problems and, therefore, are not lumping me in with posters who "hate Cousins," whoever that might be. Secondly, understand that the only option is Cousins OR 1st round QB, not AND. AND isn't on the table because it's not feasible. Remember that Cousins needs to sign to the deal. Thinking he'll sign a 3 year deal that isn't paying him north of $25 million per year is bonkers. Thinking we're going to pay a bridge QB north of $25 million per year for a few years with our future sitting behind him is even more bonkers!
  14. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.buffalorumblings.com/platform/amp/2017/3/10/14881226/tyrod-taylor-restructured-contract-2017-nfl-free-agency-doug-whaley-buffalo-bills "Buffalo was able to shorten the length of Tyrod’s deal. They can move on from him in a year with a relatively minimal cap hit of $8.64 million or let him play out the last year of his contract and let him become a free agent. His earlier contract ran through 2021." Well I guess it's not technically an option. It's just that we can cut him without a huge Cap hit in the first 4 or 5 days of the new league year. My misunderstanding. I guess Taylor's even more likely to still be a Buffalo Bill next year than I thought.
  15. Whoa holy crap talk about digging up a thread! Yeah it was a bold prediction that was way off. Aren't bold predictions supposed to be things that no one expects? I was wrong, but let me also tell you something, if I ever use this with you, it means I'm just messing around or being sarcastic or playful or whatever you want to call it. That was more a desperately hopeful prediction than anything. A clearly wrong one. I was also one of the only posters talking playoffs before the season started. 3 games left and we still have a shot and have already matched last year's win total. You've said countless times this team would never make the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor under center. Still 3 games left and we currently hold the 6 seed while you're claiming he won't get more than 54 yards passing against the 'Phins. I understand why you're digging this up after you said that and then on the same day you said it you forgot you said it. That was embarrassing. So I'll call my prediction an embarrassing prediction and say I was wrong
  16. It's my understanding that the Bills will have to pick up Taylor's option before they trade him, correct? And if that's the case, the other team will have to be willing to pay Taylor the amount of that option. Regardless, if Buffalo plans to trade him, picks up his option, but can't find a trade partner, then Buffalo is "stuck" with him. Can you explain this, please? Otherwise, forgive me if I don't believe you have a legit source.
  17. I've also gotta say... I'm surprised at how inherently biased you are. You ultimately appear to be just another "the grass is always greener on the other side" kinda guy and your overrating of Cousins is indicative of that. And what's worse, you try to do that by diminishing the talent surrounding him in Washington and just completely ignoring any discussion of how superior his offensive coordinators have been. Talent wise, Shady is clearly the better back than the Washington trio... I'll give you that. Though Thomson was looking really good before he was injured. And Reed is better than Clay. Your forgetting he also has Vernon Davis, who is probably even still as good as Clay. Josh Doctson was a 1st round draft, yet you act like Zay Jones is clearly superior to him. Really weird. Jamison Crowder is as good or better a #2 than our #2 option, or at least on par with them. And the Redskins OL, when healthy, is better than ours. They haven't been healthy much of the season, but neither has ours with Miller and Glenn out most of the year. But the last few years Cousins has had his blind side protected by one of the best LTs in the game. You're making me sound like I hate Cousins and I don't. It's just ridiculous to put him in the category you do. Do you think Cousins is as good as Roethlisberger and Rodgers?
  18. Nope, he's absolutely not in that Elite territory. At least in my world.... ya know.... reality
  19. So has this been solved, yet? Everyone accepts that McDermott was an idiot for wasting a timeout at least, right?
  20. If you say so. You clearly must be right. My opinion is clearly wrong because it differs from yours. I concede I must be wrong in your mind because you're so utterly confident that Cousins belongs in Brees/Roethlisberger/Brady/Rodgers territory. My bad for disagreeing. I'll go sit in a corner since I still do, very strongly PS: It's funny that you like didn't address the post you were responding to in any way whatsoever regarding offensive staffs, which is the crux of why Cousins has been so productive
  21. Shady, what the heck is your beef with 26CornerBlitz? Most people, including me, appreciate what he does and the things he posts in here. If you don't like it, don't read it and definitely don't be a jerk about him posting stuff he does largely as a service to everyone here.
  22. Yes and I stand by that. But it's like a scale. Good offensive staff + Good offensive weapons = Fantastic offensive staff + Average offensive weapons = Average offensive staff + Fantastic offensive weapons He's had a better than solid offensive staff his entire career as a starting QB. He's had a fantastic offensive staff for most of his time, which counterbalances the average weapons he's had. Actually, considering the offensive minds he's had in there, it probably more than counterbalances it. Buffalo has, at best, an Average offensive staff and average offensive weapons, overall. And I think "average offensive staff" is mighty generous.
  23. Kyle Shanahan / Sean McVay/ Jay Gruden. Yiiiiiiiikes
  24. As I've said, I like Cousins and think he's a good QB. I just don't think he's great and certainly not Elite. I want a guy who has the chance to be Elite. From the looks/sounds of it, Darnold/Rosen/Mayfield all have a chance to be generational/franchise-changing type QBs. That's what I want. We have plenty of draft picks this year and next to go get him if we want him. Actually, the one QB I could see us going out and getting even before Kirk Cousins is Andrew Luck depending on where the Colts fall in the draft and what they want to do with that draft pick if they end up #2 or #3. I want Andrew Luck first, the 1st or 2nd or (maybe) 3rd best QB prospect next, Kirk Cousins third. In the middle option I think there's a good chance Taylor remains as the bridge guy for one year.
