  1. I think he could/would have on Sunday if we weren't up by 3 scores on Miami and the offensive play calling didn't, once again, go into a shell to try to protect a lead. Taylor put up 177 yards (passing + rushing - sacks), 2 TDs and no turnovers in the 1st half alone. And Dennison called over 20 passing plays in the 1st half. Taylor was on track for 35+ passing attempts. But then we went into the 2nd half up by 3 scores. I think McDermott thinks "safe" quarterback play is "good" quarterback play based on what's unfolded with our game management when this team gets a lead.
  2. Thus the ironic spinning of excuses for other QBs that are inexcusable to use for Taylor.
  3. Against the Jets on TNF? No way, Taylor looked really good. Everyone else in a Bills uniform was terrible, especially our OL. That Jets game is the perfect example of a really good game by a QB being masked by a blowout loss by no fault of his own.
  4. I think as much as everyone believes all parties will want to just "rip off the Band-Aid," that there's a lot more to this than Taylor feeling sleighted and McDermott wanting to move on. I think Taylor genuinely likes his teammates a lot and likes playing in Buffalo. And I think McDermott's relationship with Taylor isn't nearly as fractured as many would think after the benching. But we'll see. Looks catchable. Difficult catch, but catchable. https://twitter.com/Cover_1_/status/942907781375582208
  5. Good god! If we're getting rid of Taylor, guaranteed we're drafting a QB in the 1st. People will riot in the streets if McBeane try to sell Bills fans on Peterman as the QB of the future. That would be such a Brownsy move!!! There was another pass that Zay had a chance to catch, but didn't https://twitter.com/Cover_1_/status/942907781375582208 I just wish Zay would start living up to his reputation coming out of college.
  6. I really think Taylor should have been pulled in that NE game after he got hurt on the 2nd or 3rd play. I think his injury seriously impacted his play. That interception he threw was extremely uncharacteristic of him considering the pressure coming up the middle and all the space he had to move out to the right... looked like he was trying to minimize movement because he was seriously in pain. It's what gives me the smallest sliver of hope that he can be much better this weekend in Foxborough, even though it might be a tiny morsel of a sliver. He was just awful against the Saints, though, just like the rest of the team.
  7. If the Bills make the playoffs and win a game or two and Taylor plays well, all bets are off regarding Taylor's tenure in Buffalo, but I think we still draft a QB in round 1. If we make the Super Bowl and Taylor plays well, he's probably getting a new deal and an extension and we might not actually draft a QB in round 1. If we win the Super Bowl and Taylor plays well, he gets the key to the city. This is what I think will happen.
  8. There's no option to pick up. Taylor is actually under contract with us through the end of next season. For a while, I thought there was another option, too. But once I figured out that, in fact, Taylor is under contract through the end of 2018 and there will be a Cap hit (a not-so-terrible one if we cut him by the 4th day, I think, of the new league year) if we decide to cut him, I started thinking it much more likely that Taylor will be back next year, as much as some really hate that notion.
  9. Stop trolling. I know that you're smarter than this.
  10. McDermott would be responsible for telling Dennison he wants to run the clock and protect the football at all costs, yes. The Head Coach is going to dictate the in-game management, which includes the offensive approach, though not individual play calls, which are on the OC. This has been the pattern throughout the year when we get the lead. I'm just glad we had a 3 score lead rather than a 2 score lead, which is when the team has previously gone pretty conservative, otherwise we could have really been in trouble.
  11. He's been better recently... but he was really bad for a stretch, there.
  12. I'm going to stop pinning 2nd halves on Dennison as much as McDermott. When we went into a shell in the 2nd half against the Dolphins, I'd say that's just Dennison following a direct command from McDermott to go uber conservative. I don't like that call, but it's worked so far... even if I think it fails if we take the same approach if we manage a lead in NE.
  13. No, I meant where did they get their 2nd first round pick from?
  14. He's been much better the last few weeks, that's for sure. Let's see how he closes out the season.
  15. Taylor, Shady, Dennison's 1st half, Poyer
  16. Link? That doesn't show Hawai'i.
  17. No, we are not building around Taylor in the sense that the team is going to plan on him as our QB of the future. That doesn't mean that Taylor is going to be gone next year, as much as some may absolutely hate that. He might actually be our starter for another year. But we're going to draft a QB in the first round of the 2018 draft. It would be nice if we didn't have to trade up for that QB so we can use those other picks on other players, particularly an OL that's going to need to protect our young QB when he finally takes over. But no, unless Taylor takes us to a Super Bowl, don't expect him in Buffalo beyond next year and expect turn us to draft a QB in round 1 in about five months.
  18. Brady and the Patriots have always gone for the jugular. The Rams did it the other day against the Seahawks. I think this is a case of overthinking for coaches who take this approach. If your team is in a groove on offense, moving the ball and scoring generally at ease, why mess up that rhythm? If we manage to go up 2+ scores on Sunday, I'll be terrified all the way until the clock strikes zero because of this approach.
  19. This seems generally accurate as a breakdown by Joe B: https://www.google.com/amp/amp.wkbw.com/2433351543/2017-buffalo-bills-path-to-playoffs-cheat-sheet.html Seems like if we end up 9-7 having beaten the Patriots rather than The Dolphins, we have very little chance of getting in. How ironic would that be?
