Fake Slide should be 15 yard penalty
transplantbillsfan replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh wait... everyone is making a big deal about him pausing on that TD run??? Geebuz.... next you're gonna tell me he can't pump fake a pass and then pull it down to run because it's just not fair... waaah waaah waaah!!!! For the record, that defender had plenty of space and opportunity to make the play once he realized Allen wasn't sliding. And also, those complaining about the actual penalty on his slide are ridiculous because that was so obviously a penalty. -
Immediately thought this. If anyone listens to the Shout podcast with Matt Parrino and Ryan Talbot, apparently Beane has kept dialogue open with him.

The offense is better without Gabe Davis

Grew up in Webster, NY. I was 5 minute bike riding distance from Lake Ontario. Lake Effect snow is no joke. Now I live in Hawai'i for a reason 😎

There's something to be said about how a QB plays when the game is on the line and in 2023 in the 4th quarter, Allen has the 3rd highest Passer Rating among qualifying QBs (behind Purdy & Carr) and the best Completion %. Allen also has the 2nd most Game Winning Drives in the NFL IN 2023 with 4. Geno Smith has 5. Imagine if our D held against the Patriots, Broncos and Eagles? And overall, there's still the whole thing about Allen leading the NFL in total TDs AND total yards. Pretty much captures what I just said

I know we're all flipping out about the weather being an equalizer (and part of me feels the same way), but maybe, just maybe it separates these 2 teams even more. If the weather is as forecasted, Buffalo can concentrate almost strictly on stopping the run with only their RBs since their QB can't run. Meanwhile, the Bills can run with their RBs, run with Josh, and as the Bills learned in the Patriots hurricane game a few years ago, Josh can still actually throw in wind and snow. And we have guys like Kincaid and Shakir who played their college ball in the cold weather so they at least have some experience catching passes in inclement weather. Maybe this is just me trying to make myself feel better, but I think we should still win regardless. -
You're looking at this the wrong way. The problem isn't production. Gabe is a more productive WR. But that neglects all the problems in our offense that frequently run through him. Josh's passer rating when targeting Gabe is flat-out awful! There's constant miscommunication resulting in (at best) incompletions and (at worst) interceptions. Gabe's catch % on balls when targeted are awful. Maybe Sherfield isn't targeted and therefore nearly as productive as Gabe... but maybe that's part of the point.

Sherfield was the best blocking WR according to PFF last season. -

I dunno man. There's a middle ground here. You understand that Allen set another "no one's ever done this!" record on Sunday night, right??? As it is, I was intrigued by Joe Marino's All-22 analysis that I think you should listen to. He begins it by pretty seriously criticizing Josh for his 2 interceptions and then his end of half play. Then he goes in an interesting direction I didn't expect. Watch it and remember this is a guy who's actually making a living watching film, scouting players and talking about it.

Gabe Davis PCL sprain, not considered major
transplantbillsfan replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Keep him out. I'm sick of the miscommunication between him and Josh. And it's happened so many times this season it's clearly very largely if not entirely on Gabe. Thanks for all you've done Gabe, but I hope you never suit up for the Bills again. -
This probably could have been a joke or troll thread at some point this year, but I'm posting it because I absolutely think Sherfield will just be better than Gabe for the playoff run. Great run blocker like Gabe. Demonstrated the same sideline awareness Gabe has made himself famous for with that TD. And that just leaves the question of the communication... well, Gabe has shown 4 years of catching passes from Allen hasn't done anything for his understanding of things like what route he should run on a zero Blitz, so I'll put my money on Sherfield and his veteran experience.

Looked like a noncontact leg injury. Usually those keep players out several weeks. I'm not upset

See yourself out Allen haters!!!!
transplantbillsfan replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Stunk? Seriously????? Your standards are ridiculous if you think Allen stunk in the 1st half. Or you're stat watching. Allen’s worst 2 plays of the entire game were the play that ended the 1st half and his lost fumble. Otherwise, he was excellent. Throwing an interception on 4th down in the EZ that nets the team 15 yards looks bad on the stat sheet but wasn't a bad play given the circumstances and the 1st Interception was on Davis. I would think you would be able to acknowledge the context of these plays. Team won because of Allen. Even the drives we turned the ball over the offense drove the ball down the field to give the D a breather and then set them up to defend a long field. -
The Gabe Davis conversation (Allen with and without Gabe)
transplantbillsfan replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes... sorry not sorry but I said out loud to my buddy that I hoped Gabe was out through the playoffs.
