Colts to interview Leslie Frazier for HC

Nooooooooooo!!!! Can we trade them Leslie Frazier for Andrew Luck? ... seriously -
Josh McDaniels Withdraws from Colts' HC Job

Trade for Andrew Luck!!!! -
I want Darnold/Mayfield/Rudolph in the 1st, in that order. I'm coming around on Jackson, but really really don't want Allen. I guess I'd be stoked if we got Rosen, but I just don't even feel like he's on our radar.
-
Well... yeah, it's obviously time to rebuild. But the problem with the connotations of that word is the implications that you have to suck while you're doing it. Our rebuild began last offseason. Remember when everyone thought we were tanking when we were trading away all our good players? Yeah, rebuild the team. But it's also time for making the playoffs AGAIN and winning in the playoffs

Yes or no to a stopgap QB?
transplantbillsfan replied to Luxy312's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FUGH NOO!!! This is our best opportunity to draft a Franchise QB in years. Darnold/Mayfield in the 1st with a trade up or possibly Jackson/Rudolph staying put. And Peterman as the 2018 game 1 starter? Umm, no. I think our game 1 starter is going to be either Tyrod Taylor or whatever rookie we draft in the first. All of the above goes out the window, of course, if we can acquire Andrew Luck -
Groy will fill in perfectly at center
transplantbillsfan replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Groy will be our starting Center, and a good one... but does anyone else on the roster have experience at Center? -
Yeah... Foles and the Eagles sure went a long way to show what creative/aggressive play calling, a great OL and fantastic offensive weapons do for mediocre QBs. No matter who is under center or who else we acquire for this team in terms of players, our progression as a team in 2018 is going to hinge primarily on one acquisition this offseason... and it's not a player... it's Dabol. If Dabol is something like "the next great offensive mind," we'll see it no matter who's under center, whether it's a rookie 1st round pick or Tyrod or some other option... Andrew Luck, anyone?
-
Yep. Both times the Eagles went for it on 4th down, before I even knew they were gonna go for it I said to the people at the Super Bowl party I was at that I thought they should have gone for it. I don't think this is a McDermott trait, though. I hope he just hands complete offensive control over to Dabol and Dabol hs been influenced plenty by the Hoodie.

Now it begins. Buffalo and Offense.
transplantbillsfan replied to RalphWilson'sNewWar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, no. I think one should hope OBD finds an offensive coach who maximizes the strengths through scheme, play calling and aggression by not trying to fit square pegs in round holes. Flexible and creative coaches are absolutely necessary to be consistent contenders unless you have an Elite QB. And I mean one of the 4 or 5 best QBs consistently in the NFL. We all hope we draft that guy in April, but for now, we need to hope Dabol is that coach so he doesn't follow Dennison out the door. -
Trade up for Darnold or Mayfield. Rosen I guess, too, but I just don't get the sense he's a target of ours. Anyone other than those 3 guys would be a big mistake, unless it's just a trade up of a few spots.

Tyrod Taylor on goal line pass in Jacksonville
transplantbillsfan replied to JoshBarnett's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No... Tyrod and Nick Foles aren't all that different in the fact that neither guy is a Franchise QB, they're just guys who can be good in the right circumstances. Tyrod sort of had that in his first season when Roman was kind of limiting the playbook (apparently) and Sammy and Woods were healthy most of the year. Foles played great yesterday and played great in the NFC Championship, but dude has INCREDIBLE talent surrounding him which is aided by a brilliant, creative and aggressive play-caller who is also the Head Coach and therefore dictates offensive philosophy with absolutely ZERO resistence. Just look at it this way in terms of skill positions... McCoy & Tolbert & Banyard (?) vs. Ajayi & Blount & Clement Zay Jones & Deonte Thompson & Kelvin Benjamin vs. Alshon Jeffrey & Torrey Smith & Nelson Aghoular Charles Clay vs. Zach Ertz Buffalo Bills OL vs. Philadelphia Eagles OL I don't know if Tyrod is back this year. I suspect he is with a rookie 1st round pick waiting in the wings. What I'm genuinely curious to see is if McDermott gives Dabol full offensive control and what kind of an offensive play caller Dabol is. Is he creative? Is he aggressive? Is he stubborn or does he call plays and a system that caters to his players strengths? Based on what he did last year at Alabama, I'm excited to see him. But all the Super Bowl did prove yesterday is just how incredibly important a creative and aggressive offensive play caller can be. That's taking nothing away from Foles, who was great 2 games in a row and he's going to get PAID at some point. But he's going to get overpaid, too. -

McDaniels maybe not to Colts?
transplantbillsfan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If true... better odds for us to trade for Luck -
No. Draft a QB in the strongest and most top-heavy QB class in years. Doug Williams was a Super Bowl MVP... was fantastic in a route of the Broncos... then he lost his job to Mark Rypien. Let's be thankful another QB needy team is going to massively overpay Foles and overcompensate the Eagles. People are making way too big a deal out of 2 games... and that's all he has been good for this year in relief of Wentz. He was great in those 2 games. But 2 games. Foles is a capable starter in the right situation, but not every situation. The Eagles were just an unbelievable situation this year with a fantastic OL, Elite TE, an amazing WR corps, 2 excellent RBs and, most importantly, a brilliant, creative and aggressive offensive play caller. I expect backlash from saying this in this fairly insane thread, but I figured coming here people would be emotional and overreacting. Friggin LOVE that the Patriots lost because the Eagles are just the better team

One would assume this ball started seriously rolling with the firing of Dennison and the hiring of Dabol less than a week after the season ended -
Tyrod Taylor on goal line pass in Jacksonville
transplantbillsfan replied to JoshBarnett's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On a drive that, at the point of that play call, had already eaten up 7 minutes of clock and where our RBs were relatively effective averaging 4+ YPC against that vaunted defense and we were on the 1 yard line...? Yes. You run on 1st down. Run on 1st down in that situation is NEVER a bad call whereas passing on 1st down there absolutely can be, as it was. Actually that drive was over 7 minutes up to that point -
Tyrod Taylor on goal line pass in Jacksonville
transplantbillsfan replied to JoshBarnett's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But as KTD put so well on page 1, RPOs are primarily dependent on the look you're getting from the snap. KB was one-on-one and the line was stacked against the run. Based on the play call by Dennison, the decision to pass was probably the right call. The main issue is that it should have just been a called run by Dennison. That was just the final nail in the coffin for Dennison as Buffalo's OC. -
Tyrod Taylor on goal line pass in Jacksonville
transplantbillsfan replied to JoshBarnett's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah that was a serious indictment of Dennison. I actually thought that was Tyrod throwing Dennison under the bus more than I would have expected from him. It kinda surprised me and you can tell Taylor wasn't happy with the call and feels the blame he's shouldered since has been unwarranted. I think it's interesting how direct he is here... I wonder if he had a conversation about it with McDermott and felt validated. Oh Dennison... if only
