  1. What has changed? If players didn't know by now that concussions happen in football, they never will. The Hamlin incident is an extremely rare freak incident that could just as easily have happened at a pickup basketball game, playing with your kids, working around the house whatever. Football has never been a game for soft people. Injuries, sometimes lifelong, are a big part of the game. None of this is new, and it's part of what you sign up for. It doesn't make it easy to handle when it happens, but it's not the first time and it won't be the last that someone gets critically injured. If this wasn't a game played at a high intensity with the chance for significant injury, there wouldn't be an audience - at least not an audience that's any bigger that the AFFL.
  2. It sure looked like we were going to get run tonight before Hamlin went down. I just don't know if we can keep up with Cinci's firepower. We may have the smallest of edges at theoretical ceiling at QB, but Allen hasn't been playing at that level as of late, and Cinci may outclass us at every other position right now.
  3. Dynamic athleticism. Both of them have skill sets that our other players don't have. the plays where Hines have been involved have not been designed to exploit his strengths and shakir has looked very intriguing but hasn't had much opportunity.
  4. Again I have no idea how you're getting here. 2 years ago he had 59 catches for 699 yards 6 TDs and 32 1st downs in just 12 games. This while playing for the Jets. He had a down year last season, but so did everyone playing for the Jets. Him winning or losing a battle in pre-season really doesn't tell you much at all, especially given this coaching staffs decisions with regards to underperfoming veterans familiar with the system. McKenzie also beat out and continue to play ahead of Shakir. Cook played behind Moss and took 3/4 of the season to get to a 50/50 timeshare. It's just the way McD rolls. And the far more important point is that he would be an immediate upgrade over a non-NFL talent in mcKenzie and a broken down senior citizen in Beasley and his 6 catches for 35 yards and 1st down over 4 games this year. I think Shakir offers upside over them all and would prefer we work him in.
  5. That's just complete nonsense not backed up by production. He's been hurt this year and has had mild injuries the rest of his career. Prior to this year he only had one other season where he played in less than 12 games. No, nothing like John Brown.
  6. Hines and Shakir need to be more involved going forward. Hones in particular is deadly with the ball in his hands, and we're not succeeding in enabling that thus far. Morris is also intriguing and would mind seeing more of him. Cook has already started ramping up, but I think a Bills Championship has him in a better than 50/50 role.
  7. So he's nowhere near "the end of his career". He probably has another 5-6 years left.
  8. What are you talking about? He's 29.
  9. I've never seen someone contort so extremely to try to turn an amazing accomplishment into a negative. EVERY year that Mahomes has played in the NFL they've gone to the conference championship. If you think that isn't a mark of a great team, I'm not sure your opinion holds much water.
  10. Because he's washed up and has been for 2 seasons. Expecting more out of him at this point is setting yourself up for disappointment. His tank is empty and the fumes are running out.
  11. So the people who make all the money for the league shouldn't be paid for it? Who should? One could credibly argue that they're underpaid.
  12. He's a MASSIVE upgrade over Beasley in just about every facet of the game at this point in his career. Beasley is completely washed. The fact that he still has so many stans given his 2 catches for 18 total yards over 2 games would be mind blowing except we all know that the outrageous fandom for the guy was never about his skill as a football player. There's never been a WR so hyped around here with 5700 yards and 34 TDs over an 11 season career.
  13. I'll be happy to teach him some skills Cooking is awesome especially when you have access to an unlimited budget and hard to source ingredients.
  14. read that again. Short yardage plays are 100% timing and location. It's what the west coast offense was built on. Tom Brady built his career around them.
  15. That's all you've got? 12th is yards against is good, and I already countered the point argument via their offensive turnovers. Try again.
  16. Dak gets too much hype and too much blame. He's a franchise QB and a solid top 10 player at the top of that 3rd tier down of QBs. He has the potential to throw the team on his back in any given game, but he doesn't do it with enough consistency to will them to a championship. Shady as an analyst is a pure clown though.
  17. I feel dirty having to inform Bills fans that other teams are in fact good at things, yes. They rank around top 10 in nearly every category despite having an offense that leads the league in fumbles and is #2 in INTs and is completely inept otherwise. They may have the best LB group in the league with arguably the best LB in the game. Care to counter?
  18. This is all sorts of wrong. Their 2nd and 3rd WRs and better than our #2 and #3 and Pittman is very good. Not Diggs, but in that 12-24 group. Their defense is extremely good, bordering on elite.
  19. I'm not giving them 30 seconds. How many times do I have to say it? I'm giving them 5-10 with no timeouts.
  20. Not if you go down after the first down bleed the clock off and then score with under 10 seconds like I suggested. As a data guy, there aren't any analytics that take into account the specific weather conditions.
  21. Allen isn't in the race. It's Hurts and Mahomes unless they both get hurt and Allen goes off the remaining games. Even then I'm not sure. Allen;s shot to win was last year.
  22. If he slips on the XP, he already scored the touchdown - don't understand how that figures into it. The bills kickoff and game is over. He should be less likely to slip on the kickoff, but if he does then they get the ball at their own 40,45 best case scenario? So they get one play to throw the ball 55+ yards. Ok fine. If that's the worst case scenario I'm cool with that. If they miss the FG, there's a chance the bills never possess the ball again and lose.
  23. It was the wrong move in that situation. I understand he wanted to avoid giving the Dolphins a chance, but there was a superior option. If Devin goes down after the first down, they're in a position now where they can bleed the rest of the time off and try to score a TD on a handoff with a few seconds on the clock. A field goal in that situation is extremely risky given the snap, hold and kick in slick conditions. Yes, it worked, but that doesn't mean it was a high probability play and I'd hate to see that become the new standard operating procedure in similar situations when a touchdown is available.
  24. multiple things can't all be true? Oh, well carry on then.
  25. The whole production sounded and felt low-end like a 4th string crew at CBS. I expect a station that's run by the NFL to create a great atmosphere for their product and make the sport feel as epic as possible. Instead it felt like I was watching cricket. They missed a number of timely replays, didn't pull up any interesting player highlights, and failed to tie the game into the drama of the season. There wasn't anything specifically bad about it, there just wasn't anything good.
