Despite everyone giving you a hard time, this is a really interesting question. Oftentimes, I think a lot of situations of players getting a shot comes down to right place right time. How a team with a vet near the end of his prime, say Pittsburgh or the Chargers wouldn't bring this kid in and just have a coahc work with him to the side all season is beyond me. If it's allowed, I'd hire a guy on staff specifically to coach this kid to be a pro over the next couple of years just breaking down mechanics, watching tape and running drills. No one ever seems to do that though. In a league that only ever seems to have 15 competent QBs at a time, you'd think they'd invest more in development.

I don't think he's a very similar player. Kupp was a YAC machine. Despite the similar frame, Sills is more of a jump ball specialist with really good body control. He'll be the classic "he's open when he's covered" kind of guy if everything works out. -

No problem with that. I think it's a great idea to grab everyone you can at a position of need and see who rises to the top. -

He's a UDFA, so I won't hit him too hard, but if those are his highlights, he doesn't really seem to do anything that jumps off the page. Seems to accelerate slowly after catching the ball, doesn't have much wiggle, don't see much burst anywhere, and most of the passes are in his hands, which isn't his fault but doesn't showcase much. He doesn't seem to have the ability to break tackles either, so more of a catch and go down possession guy. -

I love the way Sills positions himself for catches. He seems to have a real knack for going up and getting the football. -

My only reason for it is to have good pass blockers on the ends when we have to play against very tough ones. If Ford is a better pass blocker than people say, then do whatever. Dawkins was our best lineman last year on a bad squad, and the season before he made Glenn expendable. I think there's more evidence that the kid is good enough than evidence he isn't.

Bills Roster Improvement during McBeane Era

Our Defense under Rex was overall more talented up top. Far better D line, slightly better LBs (so far), Better top 2 CBs, worse safeties, but probably worse depth overall. Our offensive line was better (so far), our WRs were markedly better, TE's are unknown at this point (push), RB's were far better, QB is a push (so far) -
But he also said guard is an option. I'm betting that he makes more sense there as a smaller guy who can run block. The competition is also weaker inside.

I didn't expect anything more clever, so well done. -
I think they both start on the ends with Ford inside. Rumor has it Ford is a run mauler with a weakness in pass protection and he's undersized. I'd rather pair him up with Nsekhe on the right, allowing the bigger journeyman to take care of the top pass rushers in the league.

If he's taken with Sills still on the board it would be mind boggling.

New O-Line; From 31st to top 5 in one off season?

Dawkins/Spain/Morse/Ford/Nsekhe -
1) Oliver - I wanted to trade down here after Hock went off the board, but standing pat he was BPA, so w/e. Kid seems to want to be here so that's a plus. 2) Knox - Calculated risk to get a dominant athlete with a top RAS score. If he lives up to his athletic gifts, it will have a massive positive impact for our team. We need this to work. 3) Ford - I believe offensive line play hits a point of diminishing returns and the Bills passed it with their offseason signings. If they didn't think those guys were better than what they had last year, why did they sign them? Seems like we draft OL high constantly in Buffalo and they rarely end up being long-term fixtures here. 4) Joseph - Kid hits like a truck, but is he polished enough to contribute right away? Seems he could whiff a lot against better competition with his wind-up, no-wrap tackle style. 5) Singletary - Seems like a slow Tarik Cohen knockoff that doesn't catch. I don't get how he fits in. I'm not a fan of going after a 5' 7" RB when we could have gotten Red Zone targets.

That ship sailed yesterday when we decided to give JA more time to throw passes to Zay Jones and Jason Croom. -

He's a fine depth guy so far, but nothing in that highlight reel is special. Good teams have special weapons. You could have shared this David Nelson Highlight reel and it would have had the same effect.
