On Thursday, I noticed McCoy was the only player on camera that wasn't giddy with joy on one of the late TDs. I thought about starting a thread with that pic, but didn't want to be "willy nilly conspiracy guy", but maybe he knew all along or had a really good feeling he wasn't going to be in Buffalo much longer. Kind of surprised they couldn't get compensation for him in the later rounds, but this also opens up a spot for a guy like Duke Wiliams, or even Christian Wade if they really like the guy.

For White to get the votes, I think it will depend on how opposing offenses plan to attack the Bills defense, and how the Bills utilize him this year. White is probably better suited in man coverage, but he's good in zone as well. The Bills do a good job of disguising coverages, and they seem to like cloud 3 coverages that appear to be cover 2 pre-snap. That is where Josh Norman excelled and earned first team All Pro in 2015 (under McDermott as DC). He's not a great man cover corner, but they often gave him press duties on the outside, where he would bait the QB into thinking he was going to continue to drop, only to break on throws to the flat. He only had 4 INTs that year, but 2 went for TDs (big factor in All-Pro corner votes), and he had like 20 passes defenses. If Levi Wallace is the #2, I think he'll be tasked with more zone coverages that give cushion to the WR, and that should give White more flexibilty, especially in cloud coverages. The way this defensive roster is constructed, McDermott/Frazier can really open up the playbook and can maximize it's potential. With Oliver up front, I think we'll see more double A gap pre-snap looks and blitzes with Edmunds and Milano/Alexander, which in theory will confuse QBs and force quicker throws, allowing players in coverage to break on routes. I was surprised to learn after creating this thread, just how often teams threw in White's direction last year, so perhaps he has a better chance than I originally thought.

You're right about Milano being instinctive and always around the ball. But, I think he may get "picked on" a bit in the passing game. We saw glimpes of that in the Colts game, and even against the Lions (although they got away with a blatant rub/pick). If I was an offensive coordinator, I'd look at Milano as a weak link on defense when passing, especially with quicker, shiftier RBs that can split out wide. Not to say he's terrible, but the passing game is all about matchups, and the secondary is put together well. Milano may be instinctual, but he's also smaller and not very fast, and teams will scheme against that. For him to earn All-Pro, he'll need to put up monster numbers in tackles, TFL, and INTs for his position, and not get burned all too often.

Hughes didn't even cross my mind for some reason (started thread pre-coffee), and I'm a big fan of his game. His sack numbers last year likely would have been higher with a more effective line next to him. If Oliver can refine his game sooner than later, and Murphy is as advertised (by Bills staff), Hughes should feast.

I thought about White. He's obviously a good player, certainly pro bowl worthy, but I think team will try to avoid throwing his wat as much as they can, so his numbers may not jump out IMO. Granted AP doesn't vote on popularity, so shutting guys down and opposing passer rating when throwing his way should factor in. Tough call regarding White IMO, but not because I don't think he's worthy. Our defense is very "bend, dont break", so how that correlates could go either way. They limit big play opportunities in the passing game, and give away the short stuff and swarm to the ball. Maybe that helps his chances, maybe it hurts his chances. Your point about Edmunds is a big reason why I think he'll garner more consideration. He's a big dude, who just sticks out in general, and if he becomes less of a liability against the run, and continues to make game changing plays with passes defensed and INTs, he'll be a solid bet. But as someone else mentioned, a winning team is a major factor for any voter/votes.

I know we're still riding the pre-season optimism wave, but simple question: Do you think any Bills earn AP All-Pro honors this year, and if so, who? I think Tremaine Edmunds has a very good chance to be that player. He's looked much better against the run in limited preseason action, and I think most would agree that was where he needed to improve the most from last season. His size and speed make him a very disruptive player defending the pass, as we witnessed last season. If he continues to make plays defending the pass and shows considerable improvement against the run, he's got a very good chance. He's our "Luke Keuchly" in the defense, and a bigger version. Kuechly earned his first All-Pro in his second season (he has 5 in 7 seasons), and I think our defense is very well rounded out for them to have a great season. If Edmunds doesn't earn All-Pro, my second guess would be Micah Hyde. PFF had him graded as the #1 safety in the league in 2017. Last season was slightly down for him, and the defense as a whole was the most inconsistent in the league as well, yet he was still graded the #1 safety over the last 2 seasons (iirc). If the D-line is better and can create consistent pressure, the DBs should flourish, and Hyde is a very smart and instinctual safety that will feed off of that pressure. Those are the two with the best chance IMO, but maybe you have others in mind. Maybe you think a player surprises and earns All-Pro. If so, tell us why you think so. *Now, if there's one player that I hope wins it over all others, its obviously Josh Allen, but my preseason optimism does not overshadow logic. While I like what he brings to the team and his potential, I just don't see that big of a jump from him just yet.

So I guess if Allen or significant players miss significant time and the Bills finish 8-8, the coach should be fired and Allen replaced, and we're simply settling for mediocrity? That mentality right there falls right in line with the many reasons why the Bills were spinning their wheels for 17 years...

Didn't get to see it yet, but I'm intrigued by the idea. Whether a person likes it or not is probably more of a preference thing. Fans are used to the sideline view on tv, and in general, most people aren't as accepting of change. ESPN's online streaming service has been utilizing a sky cam feed for their NCAAF games on Saturday night for a couple years now, and I'm a fan. It provides a better veiw of the development of plays, and also cuts out the commentary for more of an in-stadium experience, but that also probably will turn off the casual fan. I believe commercials are cut out as well.

Unless the injuries are something that he just can't overcome physically and/or mentally, a year away could be beneficial. Maybe he just ends up missing the game so much that he can't stay away.

Calling plays like Jauron in the preseason is probably a good thing. Who cares that it was nationally televised? Its preseason. Would you rather the Bills dive deep into the playbook and win 48-10 in a meaningless game?

CJ Anderson is a big dude, and Edmunds stonewalled him like it was no big deal. I think that coaches are taking advantage of the fact that it's preseason. They need to figure out how those types of plays will be ruled by the officials after challenges. Once the regular season starts, those challenges will likely decrease in frequency, and will only be used in more obvious situations. There's no risk right now in losing a challenge and time out when the wins and losses are meaningless.

That's not what I said. To be honest, you make great points as to why he won't or shouldn't be here much longer. I guess I was just playing devil's advocate a bit. I want this team to be better, and if that means moving in from Zay, so be it. I have no personal affiliation to him, although I think we all would like for him to improve and be a part of the team being better. Maybe he makes the final 53, but is traded before the week 8 deadline. If so, your prediction thread should be considered a "win" for you in my book.

Ok cool. You brought up Foster and 100 yard games; how many multiple TD games does he have under his belt? I get that you took a ton of heat in your old thread, and maybe got backed into a corner and need to ride your prediction to the end, but the fact of the matter is that there are probably as many logical reasons for keeping Zay as there are logical reasons for moving on. We'll know soon enough how the staff feels about Zay.

He had 3 TDs. Zay more than doubled that. Foster certainly offers more big play ability than Jones, and has a higher target %. I personally am not opposed to moving on from Jones, nor would I be surprised. His extensive playing time last night may be an indicator that the staff is more willing to move on than we thought.

This makes sense. Zay has certainly become the new "whipping boy" for Bills fans. I get that he's had a few gaffes, and a naked bloody escapade, but his production last season (considering the circumstances) probably won't be matched by Foster, Williams, or McKenzie.
