  1. First of all, Christie is an outsider. Anyone that is not employed by the Buffalo Bills currently is an outsider, technically. Second, Carpenter was released. He, too, is now an outsider. Christie no longer needs to "help", as far as the Bills are concerned. If he wants to help Carpenter, he can. All he needs to do is contact Dan, and see what he thinks. That has absolutely nothing to do with the Bills. This comes out now, after the fact, not before Carpenter was let go, or during the previous two down years for him. Whaley may have done some questionable things as GM, but this should reflect negatively on Christie and Christie only, yet people want to twist this into some Whaley rage. Color me shocked.
  2. I don't think they hate us, but there's probably some that hate what we represent. And by "us", I mean a select few that have crossed over that aren't solid contributors. Be honest, there were some terrible posting habits over there, and some of that will make it's way here. But they'll get weened out over time. Note taken. I like cornbread.
  3. I'm guessing he already took your cornbread.
  4. Sometimes players celebrate at bad times, but in general, I don't have a problem with it. I would prefer an "act like you've been there before" approach from players on my favorite team, but I understand why players like to celebrate. They are stars, and the landscape has changed quite a bit since the '80s. I believe the league is reviewing celebrations, and may show more leniency towards little stuff, but that's basically born out of fan "outrage" of eexcessive penalties for celebrations.
  5. I brought that up earlier. Rex handled a struggling Carpenter (post injury) quite poorly IMO. Prior to injury, he was the Bills all time best kicker (albeit only for a few seasons). Whether or not that played a significant role, if any, in Carpenter's lack of production over the last two years is debatable, but when you look at the salary, and lack of production, the decision to move on shouldn't come as a surprise. I will say that Whaley has made some questionable decisions as GM, and that comparing him to previous GMs doesn't justify labeling him as a "good" GM, but it hasn't been all bad moves. IMO, a big reason why he is still here is because of the lack of potential GM upgrades that were available. After the way the last few weeks of the season transpired, with all the "leaks" and speculation from within OBD, the Bills would have had a very hard time selling that job to any real potential upgrade. I mean, the 49ers hire Lynch, FCOL. Who would the Bills have hired? Then again, perhaps Whaley knew the writing was inthe wall with Rex, and ddidn't want to go down with him, and created that whole mess in order to save his job...
  6. Hard to tell who "he" is. Is it Whaley, or Carpenter, that wouldn't be receptive? Either way, it's a non issue. My guess is that the coaches and FO already planned on releasing Carpenter for at least a couple weeks now. And Carpenter can work with whomever he wants on his time. I liked Carpenter. Before Rex was hired, he was the best kicker the Bills had ever had, percentage wise, and was very good from 40-50+ yards out. But it became pretty obvious that he wasn't the same player these last two years. Not sure why. I know he had an ankle issue before the 2015 season started, and Rex didn't exactly do a good job of instilling confidence in the guy, but letting him go was the right move.
  7. There was some good gif game going on over there, but I post 99% of the time on my phone, and it certainly clogged me up. With that said, are you or anyone aware of a way to change the number of posts per page? I used to set it to 40 posts, instead of 20, to help keep my data usage down when not at home. I have yet to find that option here.
  8. Norman was a great fit in that defense, and he was obviously a key part of their success, but losing him wasn't the only thing that happened to them last year. I agree with the other poster, in that DBs aren't as highly valued in this scheme. Front 7 is where it's at under McDermott.
  9. Not a good start, my friend. The folks here at TDB have been kind enough to welcome us here, with some healthy ribbing at times. But there's an expectation they have for us. Failing to meet that expectation will likely result in being shown the door. The BBMB is gone, and with it goes an old way of operating as a member of a Bills message board. I higy doubt any of the lifers and regulars here feel like this thread is solid contribution here. My advice would be to act like the new kid in class. Sit back and observe; see how things operate here, in all aspects. Notice what is frowned upon. There are already a few threads relating to the BBMB that were created shory after the old board went the way of the dodo, and while your original post possibly speaks about someone that may now be a member here as well, it would have been better to just post it in one of those threads. Several people have stated pretty much the same thing as you, as what they like the most about this site. It really didn't need it's own thread, and I'm sure that the regs here would prefer to get the fresh BBMB takes over with sooner, rather than later. JMO, do what you will. But what's done is done. Move on. Embrace your new life here.
  10. I liked NRC, but he's obviously undersized...and clearly not a good fit in the role being played in the OP's video. Good luck to him
  11. Buffalo716 is right. He is not "ready" to take over as a starter on the outside, for the reasons mentioned. That being said, he's probably seen as Gilmore's replacement on the outside by the coaching staff, and if that's the case, get the growing pains out of the way this year, and speed up his development. It's year one of a new coaching regime. By year two, he'll be better prepared as a starter, and Darby will be in a contract year. Of course, the Bills could go CB in the first, and there are a few corners that could come in and start right away, allowing the Seymour to play the slot.
  12. His efficiency on 3rd and short and 4th and short has been outstanding. He's the perfect complimentary back to Shady, who is getting long in the tooth for RBs, and more prone to injury due to age and miles. Locking up Gillislee for several years is a no brainer IMO. Back load the contract to save on cap space now, and once Shady is done/gone, then Gillislee gets fair compensation based on increased workload. I will say that I am biased, but I would love for him to remain a Bill for years to come.
  13. If you mean "Buce Smith Eats Ya QB", then I respectfully disagree. His posts were hard to read, and if anything at all Bills was posted on the internet, he had to create a thread about it, eventhough oit had most likely already been discussed. Then he would get super defensive if anyone questioned his intentions, and act as if he were a martar to the board. I feel like he would not last very long here. And I hope I don't sound rude for saying it, but the funny/entertainment aspect to him was certainly not intentional.
  14. I'm still feeling my way around here, but I like that certain words that shouldn't be filtered aren't, and that even though there seems to be a bit more leniency in what gets posted, spamming and crusading won't be tolerated. There were several "trolls" on the BBMB that would post in a manner that was technically not in violation of the CoC, but was frowned upon by the good posters there. Certain posters, some of the better ones (Blokes, for example) would get banned for minor "violations", while other, notoriously bad posters were seemingly untouchable. How they lasted so long there is beyond me, and it's good to see that one of those people has already received his warranted banishment here. Dude was a joke over there. There were several good posters over there, but this forum seems to consist of many more knowledgeable, open minded members, and that's what makes a good football forum...not rehashing the same beaten arguments in multiple threads, or saying the same message in every post (< I noticed that one of those guys has made his way here, and I'm sure it won't take long for TDB lifers to figure out who).
  15. Banned...that didn't take long. And based on the OP's history on the BBMB, it shouldn't have.
  16. One more week at the most, and this will be put to rest. Until then, expect more crap to be thrown at the (stadium) wall.
  17. Good ****, Gunner! I wish I had seen this sooner, but I've already won a prize from you, so others should get dibs over me, I suppose. Dog poop bingo is brilliant! And in case anyone was wondering, Shotgunner is a man of his word. I won an autographed mini football from him on the old BBMB, and it was shipped within a few weeks.
  18. Not a good look, but not as big a deal as some here seem to think. He'll still be a baller in the NFL.
  19. That's terrible! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.
  20. teef has been one of my favorite members on the BBMB for years, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm in love with him... He can be witty, yet is on point when setting someone straight, or calling out a troll. In a prison yard, he'd be the guy that benches little inmates after the weights are taken away. I will say that I love his work. Some of his finest material is from his earlier days., when he first broke onto the scene... [video=youtube;4rigqVF_Fsg] *edit: not sure how to embed videos here
