  1. Pretty much. We need one of those.
  2. I don't think the Bills make any "big splash" FA signings this year. With the guys the Bills have signed so far since yesterday, I don't know how much cap space they have, but Hyde may be the biggest "splash" they make. The Bills still have some holes to fill at WR, RT, LB, and CB, but I think they take a similar approach to what they did last year, and let the initial FA smoke clear up a bit, and bring in a couple mid-tier guys on 1-2 year deals, then finish filling out in the draft. BTW, just curious, the "db" in your name, is that Daytona Beach?
  3. Give it time. There were way too many lame threads and hot takes on the old board, but the mods there were selective on dropping the ban hammer. Before long, those members that have made their way here will be shown the door.
  4. Don't get me wrong, I see what everyone else is seeing. I just try to dig deeper to the root. The media and "reporting" certainly isn't what it used to be. And these guys typically put somethingout there, while aTthe same time, not backing themselves into a corner. They leave interpretation in what they say as an "out". Maybe the Bills were leaning towards moving on, if they couldn't agree to a renegotiated deal. We'll never know. But Vic wasn't exactly far off in what he said. I wasn't trying to be an ***, and like I said, the media sucks. But I'mmore of a " wait aandsee" kind of guy. I don't put any stock into what is "reported", because of the landscape of the business. Eventually, well all find out in the end, and getting all up in arms over what was previously "reported" is a waste of time. Too many people like to complain about things before they actually happen. I get it; we all want the news, and we want it now. Patience is lost with most people. But the bottom line is, if we continue to buy it, they'll continue to sell it... But hey, at least it provides us with entertaining talking points.
  5. You guys are funny. Just because someone works for the media, I guess we're all supposed to take their word as gospel. People always bump the "flavor of the day" threads, after news breaks that shoots the premise down. But this is just the reality of modern day media "reporting". Vic, and his colleagues, are just doing their jobs, and that doesn't necessarily mean that they have to be right. They just have to get clicks. The easiest way to do that, in today's instant gratification, 30 second attention span society, is to print something controversial, something that stirs a very large, popular pot. Controversy=clicks=cash. You rip on these media guys all day every day, but they are the ones that are laughing. That's exactly what they want. If you're ripping them, you're reading them, and that's why they're still employed. It's a shame what modern media and journalism has come to, and maybe part of the issue locally is due to members not having certain Bills/Sabres access like they used to, but we (society) are just as much to blame as the ones putting this stuff out there. /rant BTW, this part was included by Vic: So he alludes to what actually ended up happening as the reason behind the issue. So not entirely a hack, I suppose.
  6. I said this numerous times on the other board. The blueprint was clear. With a good/great run game and defense (which was the perception at the time), the Bills just needed Taylor to be 2011 Alex Smith. For the most part, he has been, and a much better runner. Unfortunately, the defense didn't do its part, falling to below average in each of the last two years, after ranking #2 in DVOA. Had the defense been top 10, or close to it, the Bills probably make the playoffs. Between the performance, and the constant communication issues with players on the field, and on the sidelines, Ryan being let go was necessary. But the offense was effectient, overall. 3 and outs were a big issue, and (for whatever reason) the passing game was lacking, which contributed to the 3 and outs. But they put up good points, more than enough to win most of those games. Statistically, the Bills offense was pretty similar to the 49ers of 5-6 years ago. Consistently highly ranked rushing offense, and consistently lowly ranked passing attack. We'll see if McDermott is the right coach to get the defense back on track. If it does, I think the offense in place will compliment that well, and with a healthy Watkins, I think the passing attack will show moderate improvement. Our offense should see a nice increase in play-action and bootlegs, things that fit Taylor well, and screens and slants, things that fit with Sammy. If the Bills continue to run well (and they should), and the offense can minimize 3 and outs, it will help keep the defense fresh, and start to see a morefinely tuned machine.
  7. The Crusher crusade strikes again!
  8. Heyyyy, not all of us are lightweights...Ever drink heroin from a fire hose??? Didn't think so. This "bar" is like rehab to me.
  9. How does a comp pick help us this year?
  10. In favor. Less cap hit helps make the team around him better, and shows that he's a team player (although I'm sure some will argue that it was facilitated by his "market value"). 7th and 9th ranked QBR the last 2 seasons, protects the ball, elite playmaker with the ball in his hands...he may not win a SB for you, but with the right team around him, he won't lose a SB for you. All of that, and he seems like the perfect QB for the type of offense that Dennison is known to run. Your endless Taylor crusade will do well here...
  11. What's the situation? Is Hunter trying to test the market? He made a couple big plays last year, after coming in late, but not a whole lot else. I wouldn'tthink he would command all that much in FA. He's a tier 3 FA WR.
  12. You're probably right. "It's a passing league"...maybe so. But more than that, it's a score more points league. I get that, and it is a bit of a head scratcher on the surface. But it's still early. Who knows if Gillislee will be back, and Bush is out. And the two FBs offer different things. ST will also need some bolstering, with Easley, and Alexander (possibly/likely) out. I'm going to wait and see how the rest of the offseason shakes out, and how these two players are utilized, before I pass judgement. I/we may not see it right now, but there has to be some kind of vision from the staff for them to be brought in. At the very least, it's probably safe to assume that our run game will continue to thrive, with them, Shady, and Taylor all in the mix, and they bring multiple pro-bowls with them.
  13. You're probably right. "It's a passing league"...maybe so. But more than that, it's a score more points league.
  14. Definitely. We needs WRs, and he's a great RZ target.
  15. I wouldn't go that far. Great ST play will earn a roster spot. Unfortunately injuries did him in, and his knee(s) may be shot.
  16. I don't understand how anyone can not like this. Great FB, and for roughly $2mil per year.
  17. Kellyto83TD is that you?
  18. Good deal. Let's hope it happenss. Dyngus day is gonna be lit!
  19. Because his name isn't Bob. He doesn't go by Bob, and no one calls him Bob (other than fans). Bob Woods is more of a gay porn name, or a Sabres assistant coach name, not a football name. Seriously, though, you don't hear about him because he's a Bill, and he played WR for one of the worst passing teams in the league last year. That, and there are other, higher profile players available at the position. Marshall signed with the Giants for 2 years, $12mil, but he's older. Woods will probably get around $8mil per year if he hits FA, based on age and production, but if he truly wants to stay a Bill if Taylor is kept, maybe he can be had for a bit less on a front loaded deal.
  20. I always thought that Williams had on gloves that were a size too big. Show him the way, OJ.
  21. I hear Steve Christie is available...get it done! I liked Stevie as a borderline #1 during his time here, but no thanks. If the Bills bring in a former Bill at WR, it should be Aiken.
  22. Let the record reflect that Carpenter has a far better FG% than Steve Christie. As a Bill, Christie's FG% was just over 78%. Carpenter's FG% as a Bill is over 85%. Just sayin.
