Schmidt looked pretty good to me. Maybe it was just a "down" year in 2016.

I couldn't figure out how to cancel the auto-renew feature, so I altered my credit card info. They tried charging me 3 times, unsuccessfully. It's legit, you just have to know how to talk to them and what to say. I've done it, and plan to do it next year. Coca Cola found out 30 years ago that the customer is always right. I assume that a large portion of Directv account holders only are because of ST, and they'll work with you to keep your business if you threaten to cancel.

I like the idea. Ref puts a hard up, like offsides in hockey. Getting the penalty is boneheaded, but avoiding injury to the return man is something the league can address.

He looked bored on the sideline at the end of the game. Weak attempt -
Leslie Frazier

Tackling was pretty solid with the first unit. 2nd and 3rd units were gradually worse, but players were swarming to the ball very well all game. -
This ^ The refs missed 2 facemask penalties against the Vikes on JW, one of which was on the play where Richie was flagged for holding (which I thought was a weak call; I saw the flag come out and thought for sure it was a facemask). I think they were watching the Bills closely, since they have a little reputation over the last 3-4 years, but that's a good thing. Let them make those mistakes now. It's preseason. Taiwan won't make it past final cut. I agree with you on the penalties, but I couldn't care less if some camp body that was signed less than a week ago commits a stupid penalty in a meaningless game. Matter of fact, I like it. It gives the coaches something to harp about to the team.

Leslie Frazier

My thoughts as well. Frazier's scheme does mesh well with McDermott's. We'll see a ton of cover 3, and probably won't get beat deep very often. Teams will attack the flats, seams, and utilize smash concepts. And there will be dropping defensive linemen at times. McDermott likes to disguise zone blitzes, and a lineman will cover the area vacated by a blitzing LB. -
Who could be this year's Lorax?

That's what McDermott likes to do. He can disguise his blitzes in several ways. Defensive linemen are asked to drop at times as well, to cover for a blitzing LB. Only problem right now is our LBs aren't as good as what he had in Carolina. I believe that our defensive line is better than what he had in Carolina, so that helps. Just need them to stay healthy. Losing one or two guys up front for significant time would be a major blow for this defense. I like this. I'll be watching Thomas very closely over the next month. -

My first choice as well. With a good, healthy front 7, I think our secondary will look better than many people think. Good pressure up front should create hurried and errant throws. The DBs will be in zone a lot, allowing them to keep their eyes on the QB, and make plays on the ball. For this defense, I think Poyer and Hyde are just fine. Teams will still expose them. I think they'll be vulnerable down the seams and on deep post/smash concepts. But they'll be put in positions to make plays. Just need our front 7 to create havoc in the backfield and hold up against the run. -
The Golden Age of Football is Over?

Everything is evolving in their own way, based on their environment. Football will certainly look "different" X amount of years from now, in some way(s). -

Practice Note Links 8-8

Ragland on the third team isn't even that surprising. Mainly due to recovering from major injury, but also by strategy. They're not handing him anything based on where another coach/gm drafted him. They're treating it right by making him earn his way behind veterans with experience, so that they get the most out of him. But media columnists sure are are serving it up. -
NFL Cuts and soon to be Cuts

Can you imagine, Carr is out and EJ carves up the Bills defense in OP?!? Naahhh, me neither. -
There's a difference between someone getting "upset", and someone being "annoyed". Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think you're upsetting or offending anyone...weird angle. Constantly posting the same thing over and over and over gets annoying (since everyone knows your stance already), and makes it look like you're only here for one reason.

Hey, I don't care; I was just sharing my outside POV. I think most fans agree with you in general. We all see the same things, except for the select few that refuse to see what they don't want to see. Now, I wouldn't call Taylor bad or below average, but I certainly don't think he's going to magically turn into Steve Young. I do, however, think that there's at last a little room for some improvement, although many will disagree. Typically in these pro/anti debates, they are very often represented by people on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. He's either garbage, or he's God; I see the good and bad.

Good point. At the same time, you can't talk about our QBs win/loss record without talking about the defense giving up far more points than our above average offense scored. We all know what Taylor needs to work on and improve. I doubt there's any drastic improvements anywhere, but I'll wait and see how he performs in an offense that better suits him. I agree with others; he is what he is, but he could be an improved/better version.
