  1. I'm in DeLand, I assume you're not too far from me. I saw that track on Friday...it was still bad here, but could have been much worse. Hope you made out ok. I saw Jax was flooded pretty bad. (Hopefully you're able to read this soon). Not that this matters right now, but just in case you didn't know, you can get a more reliable feed by switching to the SD feed during signal loss. I lost signal several times on Sunday, but only lost HD. I watched the local news in SD until we lost power around 11, after the HD feeds went down for good around 6.
  2. Glad you're here, Shaw! I always looked forward to reading your reviews on Sunday nights or Monday mornings at work (I would have read it sooner, but I've been busy dealing with Irma and it's destruction. I was able to watch the game, though). Can't disagree with any of it. That play by Kyle was on 3rd down iirc, adding to it's importance. The coaches should emphasize this play to the younger guys in the film room. The Broncos game will be my first home game attended. I hope that intense crowd feeling that you speak of is there. Hopefully your next write up will follow another W.
  3. If the Bills defense finishes top 5 and the offense is better than last year, they'll be serious playoff contenders this year... Nothing in their recent moves screams out "serious playoff contenders" to me.
  4. We're staying, but not in South FL. We're between Orlando and Daytona Beach, so we'll probably get some strong stuff, but category 2 by the time it gets to central FL. I'm hoping it doesn't knock out the power here until after 4:30 on Sunday, but that's the least of my concerns. I do have ST Max, though.
  5. Good site to bookmark if you'd like to keep an eye on the injury report for upcoming Bills games. http://www.billsdaily.com/injury/ Doesn't look good for Worthy this week. Forte and Powell are both full participants, but are dealing with knee and rib injuries respectively. Also just heard McCoy did not practice today due to illness.
  6. The eye of Matthew came within 25 miles of my old apartment in Daytona Beach. It was supposed to make a direct landfall in that area, and luckily it turned at the last minute. This storm will cause far more damage than Matthew if it takes the current trajectory. Glad you got away, and good luck! My coworker is from PR and has family there. Sorry to say, it's not good.
  7. I wouldn't have stuck around to record if I was there and shots rang out.
  8. Yeah, I had to use "other means" to watch on my XBOX. Only game not streaming on ST apparently.
  9. It works right now. I watched the Jets game (Gragg took another nasty shot to the leg/knee, and their RB #35 looked like a beast). Watching LA/SF, TEN/KC, MIA/MIN, and BAL/NO right now.
  10. Bills/Lions was the only game without a stream on the Sunday Ticket app.
  11. For me, it's the HB delayed screen. Always seem to burn us. Giving up plays to the flats is something that comes naturally with this defense. I think it was before preseason when I said teams would attack us there, and down the seams. That's where you're supposed to attack cover 3 defenses.
  12. Perfect! Just to so it's clear, I wasn't being serious. But could you imagine Kyle dropping the weight and playing Sam at 245? He'd probably be a beast, even at his age.
  13. I get that; I guess we'll see how it shakes out. I'll criticise it if/when it turns out to be a bad decision. But looking at it from a different angle, the "competition", whether perceived or not, is good for Miller, and Ducasse. These are the types of things that we should want from our staff. Whether or not McDermott and Beane do a good job won't be known for a few years, but the things they are doing and have done so far represent something that many of us fans feel like has been needed for some time with this team. One thing is clear about this regime: they mean business, and really don't care what the fans think about their moves, because they feel like the moves will benefit the team in the long run. Everyone has described McDermott as a very structured, detail driven person, not just as a coach, but in all aspects. Having a "competition" at certain positions isn't always just about who may be better. It's also a coaching method used to push players. At this stage of Miller's career and the circumstances around it, it's the perfect time for a coach to do this with him and players in similar situations. It pushes him, while giving Ducasse valuable reps with his new linemates, just in case Miller misses time. It's not a bad thing to do, unless it has a reverse effect on Miller's phsych, but he seems like a very level headed and humble guy, so I'm not worried about that.
  14. It's like the EJ/Tuel situation a few years ago. Taylor will likely be ready week 1, but the coaches will probably milk the idea that he may not start all the way until 11am next Sunday. Give the starters 2-3 series at most, maybe less action for Shady and Clay. Get Reilly and Thomas some reps with the starting unit. Leave Dareus out there a little longer than you normally would, since he got no action last week. I'll reserve judgement until week 1. I don't believe it's as much of a competition as perceived.
  15. It's more complicated than that. Miller beer sucks, IMO. Too many Miller's may have you kissing the John. We've all been there, and while it's not fun, we've all lived to see another day. (High Life is the champagne of beers, though). Kiss Vlad the Impaler and he'll probably kill you...advantage:Miller.
  16. I don't believe the competition between Miller and Ducasse is as close as it's being made out to be. Competition is healthy, and keeps players from getting complacent. Miller is entering his 3rd year in the NFL, and hasn't really had a true threat to his position on the roster in his first two years, so presenting a threat to his position is a smart psychlogical move (as well as a smart depth move) by the coaches at this stage of Miller's career. Ducasse has familiarity with the line coach, so there's at least some merit to him being a perceived threat. But Miller has several starts under his belt, with pretty much the same cast along the line, and continuity on the line is a big factor. He's split reps along side Wood and Groy (after Wood went down), and Miller looked consistent regardless of who his center was. Groy seems to be a much better center than guard, so perhaps the coaches would rather keep him available in the event that Wood goes down again, and give Ducasse extra reps at guard in order to build some cohesion with his new linemates, in the even that Miller misses time again, which also pushes Miller to step his game up. I think it's a good coaching strategy, more for the mental aspect of it. Maybe it is more of a competition than I believe it to be. We'll find out very soon.
  17. Competition is good and healthy, but I think Miller starts. If this staff wants to build this team up, they should keep players like him and Brown, who have played several games in their young careers and looked decent. Continuity on the offensive line is important, so Miller gets the nod IMO, and perhaps the part of the reason for Ducasse getting so much action is to help create some cohesion with his new linemates. Miller has missed a few games games, so giving extra reps to Vlad isn't a bad thing. I think they're treating this right. Well see how that unfolds.
  18. I want those 2 minutes back. WTH was that crap? Darnold may not even declare, and he may not end up being the best in his class if he does. There are 2-3 other QBs that could be just as good.
  19. Not for what he's making now. Some team will pay him that to start.
  20. If you think the this team is as bad as the team Gailey inherited, you're crazy. Remember Cornell Green? Spencer Johnson at OLB? How about the legendary, John DiGiorgio? That team had FAR less talent. They started 0-8, and finished 4-4 against a super weak second half schedule. I would be shocked if this team has a similar season, even with the issues the seem to be having.
