  1. Terrible! I'll never understand why we spend so much more money on prisons than we do schools (actually, I get it completely). Perhaps if we focused more on education, less people would grow up to be criminals???
  2. We've had fun with the Dalton/Boyd connection and donated a lot of money to their causes, but how many of us have donated to our own players' charities? We should show our love and appreciation for our own by helping out their causes. I tagged Taylor in the post because, love him or not, he's been a true professional in his time in Buffalo, and regardless of circumstances, he's the QB for the first playoff-bound Bills team in nearly 18 years to the day. Let's show some love to these guys with some $17 (or however much) donations. If you have a link to any Bills players' charity of choice, please post it here. GO BILLS!
  3. Yessssss I saw this...some good plays in there, but I feel like there's so many more "memorable" plays that aren't in there.
  4. I think that was the Bucs game as well, right before the Bills scored the final points of the game. It helped kill off extra clock before scoring. How about that crazy lateral play at the end that lasted almost a minute? Definitely a play that no one will forget.
  5. (TL;DR version: what's the one play from the regular season that sticks out to you more than others?) I know it's the playoffs, and that talk dominates right now, as it should. Here's a change up. Every year, we talk about how three or four plays could have been the difference between 7-9 and 9-7, and it seems especially true this year. What's your most memorable play(s) from the regular season. Could be "most memorable" or "most important", or just a favorite of yours. For me, the one that sticks out the most was the Tre'davious White FF/FR on the screen to Adam(?) Humphries late in the Bucs game. That play has stuck with me throughout the year for some reason. Perhaps it was my way of thinking at the time that it could be one of those "three or four" plays. The way that game was playing out, it was looking bleak, a similar feeling to what we felt when watching the Bengals getting ready for a 4th and 12 on Sunday. The Bucs had just come back to go up 7 with something like 4+ minutes remaining. They had all the momentum. Then Taylor connected with Thompson deep down the sideline (and IIRC added 15 yards for a defenseless receiver penalty), and tied it very soon after. But that left over 2 minutes on the clock, and I was sure that the Bucs would drive the field, kill clock, and win with a FG at the very least. First play after kickoff was that screen, and the rookie came in and punched the ball out (he got some mask, too). I remember when they showed the replay, it looked like he was aiming right for Humphries' face. Good awareness by a rookie CB 5+ games into his career. That play allowed the Bills to kill most of the clock and add the GW points. Otherwise, who knows how it would have played out. Bucs could have gone down and scored, and we'd all be looking back at games like that, and thinking about how we let one get away, and how it cost us the playoffs once again.
  6. Absolutely! McDermott talked about the 24 hour rule. They enjoy the win for a day, then it's back to business. If the Bills lose on Sunday, it won't be due to lack of preparation or focus.
  7. Referring to Jacksonville as being in central Florida is like when idiot media hacks refer to Buffalo as northern New York... The temps won't be an issue either. Supposed to be 50s
  8. Not at all...it was awesome! I was just trying to see how my memory was doing. But I do feel like it was used in another movie
  9. I'm sure the news about Bills fans donating their money to an opponent's cause helps a bit as well.
  10. CC just predicted that the Bills win this Sunday. Put that in your pipe.
  11. The idea to trade JG was purely a Kraft thing. BB could have gotten more than a 2nd in return last year, but with Brady closing in on 40, he wanted to hang onto JG as the heir apparent. The thought was that Brady will soon fall off a cliff, and the **Pats would then have an easy decision to move on from him. That didn't happen, but you can bet that teams were calling about both QBs. I'm sure BB went to Kraft with the idea of trading Brady, and was quickly shut down. The guy won 5 championships for them, and Kraft is loyal to that. While it might be the "right" thing to do, in a sense, for that kind of player, it is not the right thing to do as far as building for the future, and you can bet that it rubbed BB the wrong way. Shipping JG off for just a 2nd was a bit of a slap. BB has never been one to side with the player, and many times has sent guys packing while in their prime. Obviously, the QB position is different, but QBs typically do not play at a high level once they hit 40. This all sets up BB retiring well before we all may think, which will leave the **Pats realizing that they should have let BB do what he wanted to better set them up for the future. When they're perennial 6-10, 7-9 teams, Kraft will realize his mistake.
  12. Niners are my "2nd team". Jimmy Gesus is the real deal, no question about it. But the Niners turnaround goes well beyond the QB position. First and foremost, they now how have a very good offensive minded HC in Shanahan. The Falcons offense wasn't the same or quite as potent this year, with essentially the same squad. Aside from the QB/HC/offense, their defense is on the verge of becoming one of the elite defenses in the game again. Their front 4 is stout and full of very high draft picks. Foster behind them is an absolute beast (go check out what he did to Fornette). They still have some holes to fill before their roster is "complete", but many of those positions can be addressed in later rounds. WR (and probably TE) need to be improved upon, and in defense, the secondary. CB early in round 1, WR in round 2. As for the Bills pursuing Garrapolo, there's about a .01% chance of any team being able to bring him in. The Niners are sold, and have been since before the trade. They'll do everything they possibly can to lock him up, and by all accounts, he really likes it there. Their future is bright, with or without him, and he knows that. The Seahawks are on the downslide, and the Cards window closed last year. It will be Rams & Niners in the west for the next 5-7 years.
  13. This is where I'm at. Cup half full approach, but definitely worth considering. Numbers don't lie, but they don't always tell the full truth. Dareus hasn't been playing a ton of snaps for them either. Missing McCoy would be a big blow, no matter how you spin it. Murphy is a more than capable back in our scheme (and I actually thought his running style was very similar to McCoy's on Sunday), but I don't think the game plan will change all too much, with or without Shady. It's likely going to be a low scoring, defensive struggle type game, which IMO favors Buffalo (as opposed to more of a shootout type game). We'll still lean heavily on the run to open things up in the passing game. IF Shady does not play, perhaps the Jags focus more on stopping the pass, and further open up the run. I don't remember the Bills running too many screens this year, and (more so) draws , but this would probably be a great game to implement them more. Some well timed designed runs by Taylor would be nice as well.
  14. Not surprising at all. I live near Daytona Beach, and a good friend is a Jags fan. We were looking at tickets on Thursday (knowing well what needed to happen on Sunday for a Bills @ Jags playoff game) and the cheapest on StubHub went for around $90 before fees. Those were upper deck and not "standing room only" tix, which were more expensive for some reason. I looked again on Sunday night, and the closest comparable seats were selling for more than double that. As soon as the Bills made the playoffs, Jags fans knew that they could get insane resale profit for tickets, since it's been almost 18 years to the day since we played in a playoff game. Shoulda bought low :/ Bills first playoff game in my adult life and it's a two hour drive away, but I'm watching from home.... I went to the Bills game in Jax when EJ was a rookie. The Steelers fans in attendance that day were louder than them...
  15. I never thought about Pete retiring, but I was just talking about their window "closing" to a friend of mine several weeks ago. It's been evident dating back to last season (no SB hangover at all). Lynch gone, O line was terrible, defense (their biggest strength) getting older, etc. They struck gold in Wilson and took full advantage while he was playing on his 3rd rounder rookie deal. Now, guys are older, banged up, and paid, and there are holes all over. They are clearly going into rebuild mode. He's a Niners fan, which is how the conversation came up. It's going to be Rams/Niners in the west for several years. Aside from Jimmy G (he calls him Jimmy Gesus), Hyde, Shanahan, etc., their defense will soon be one of the best in the league. Front 4 is stout, and Foster is a beast. Address WR and secondary, and they're on their way.
  16. It all comes down to winning. Yeah, Bills fans do tend to have this wierd obsession with hearing about the Bills on a national level, yet most of us will tell the average Joe that these national media outlets don't know anything about our Bills. But the obsession is really for a winning team. It's been a long time since the Bills have been a good team, year in, year out, so the national media hasn't had much to say about the Bills since then, unless it was something negative (and in most cases, it was warranted). With winning comes coverage, not the other way around.
  17. Hey gunner, was it you that sent me the signed football from '04(?) training camp?
  18. This has been the theme all year. Not necessarily with just Jerry or guys getting to the QB, but the defense as a whole. The missed tackles, or failed stops, have been due in large part to defenders trying to strip the ball. It's something I noticed early in the season, especially as the takeaways started to dwindle. Too often they seemed to be hell bent on stripping the ball away from the ball carrier, but come away empty handed, while giving up unnecessary extra yards as a result.
  19. There's merit to this, but what about 3 plays to Dimarco and Tolbert inside the 10? That's just pure stupidity. I mean, Tolbert is the last guy you throw a slant to. If there's an upgrade available, you do it.
