  1. I recall Marcel Dareus talking about making the Panthers and Broncos pay for passing on him. He didnt, but he did get paid...
  2. Yep. Go big or go home. Clearly the staff thought enough of the guy to take him over Rosen. They are far more informed than us, or some on Twitter that came out of nowhere. I'll wait until he stinks in the pros before crucifying him and the staff.
  3. The draft is funny business. You can't go off of hindsight to justify your point. Rosen was expected to go much earlier than he did, so the Jets did what they had to to put themselves in a better position to not miss out. They didn't want to have to potentially "settle" at 6. I've read the same kind of thing regarding Allen. People are complaining that the Bills could have gotten him at 12 and not had to give up picks, but that's a hindsight idea. There's no way to know what the Dolphins would have done, or Cardinals would have done, had the Bills not moved up.
  4. I don't know...I think Darnold will be a good one. If I'm the Jets, I can live with the turnovers in college. Sometimes you have to fail to know how to succeed, and it's much better to get those mistakes out of the way earlier (so long as they're learned from). It tells a QB "Okay, I can't do that. IMO, he'll be more "Favre-like" than Mayfield. He throws guys open, and isn't afraid to take some risks. He trusts his arm. Pass catchers will love that and love playing with him. He'll give his guys a chance to make a play on the ball. There's still some raw parts to his game, but he's probably the most "complete" QB in the draft. Add in the confidence you see in his play, and I think he's the most "can't miss" QB in the draft. To the point made in the OP, I do agree, but Allen is really the epitome of "boom or bust" IMO. He has the tools, especially for playing in Buffalo, but the accuracy has to improve. My train of thought is that, if a QB has less than about 62% completions in college, you should stay away. However, Allen didn't exactly have the best talent around him to work with. Beane mentioned yesterday that Allen looked much better at the senior bowl with better talent, and it's that idea that I'm holding on to. But as of right now, the Bills are lacking at WR, so that has to be a focal point going forward. Why would you trust Pats fans over Jets fans? They're much more "fair weather" IMO.
  5. Your words: "Secondly, everyone knew Manuel was going to start. Whaley was quoted as saying that there was a qb competition and the winner was going to start." Not only are you twisting my words, but you're completely dismissing what you posted earlier in this thread. I didn't misinterpret anything. Tbh, this a stupid argument, and I'm sure you agree. But don't come out and tell me I lack integrity and have a reading issue, when it's all right there. I agree with the point you made, but I think most people at the time wanted EJ to sit, as he was a massive project, but hoped he would come out and win the job right away. That doesn't necessarily mean the same thing as "Whaley's plan was to sit him".
  6. Clearly you're the one with the reading/comprehension issues...Lack of integrity huh? :/ I never said that you said that. You interpreted what I said wrong, and there wasn't any ambiguity to what I said. I wasn't arguing against the idea that it was a competition. I was simply stating that your claim that "everyone knew Manuel would start" was not the case, and contradicts the "competition" that Whaley spoke about. Knowing something, and assuming or expecting something, is not the same. And personally, I didn't believe EJ was going to start week one. I thought the best thing would be to sit him, and start Kolb. That doesn't mean that was the Bills' plan all along, just my opinion on the situation.
  7. Just replace the rubber mats with a fine burbur and we'll be ok.
  8. The "hate" is pretty sad to see, but I can't help but laugh at people that use the term "snowflake".
  9. Everyone's different. That said, if you don't think she's hot, you're a dweeb
  10. Reading the "Rd 1 pick 7" thread was like listening to Jimmy Two Times from Goodfellas. Thank you for your hard work!
  11. "We could have had him at 12"...just because you say it, doesn't make it true. Its just what you're telling yourself because it's not the Josh you wanted. We'll never know.
  12. Not once did Whaley come out and say Manuel was the day one starter. No reading problems here...
  13. It's sad that we have to say this kind of thing, but it's true. Bills fans will turn on a player in an instant. Not all, but many. Enough to be heard, and taken by outsiders as a representation of the whole. Really, it's just a reflection of impatience and a lack of intelligence. You really have to have thick skin to be a young player for the Bills, that hasn't yet reached his potential. Everyone loves Tre White, but if/when he has a bad game or slump of games, there will be many that claim he was a flash in the pan, or that teams have him figured out. They're unwilling to allow him the time to battle through it and refine his craft. It happened with Gilmore, after a tremendous rookie season. It's happened with players before him, and will happen after. We can be a tough crowd, but many times it's not fully warranted. That kind of talk does affect the psyche of some players, which trickles down to their play and effort, to some extent. This doesn't mean we should all wear rose colored glasses, and support mediocrity. But we do need to be patient, and let things play out before we crucify players. That doesn't mean Whaley was right. I wouldn't say that everyone knew Manuel would start. He was widely considered to be a project that was taken a round or two higher than he probably should have been. Regardless of what Whaley said (which, btw, you interpreted a certain way; doesn't make you opinion "truth") the smart, expected plan, was to sit EJ, but a rubber mat thwarted plan.
  14. I feel like this is the precursor to an "I told you so" thread. We all know they want to trade up. I say it happens.
  15. Yes. 2015 week 2. The Bills were trolling by selling football pumps at the Bills store that day lol As far as loudest game, I don't think we'll get louder than it was in the early 90s when the stadium capacity held thousands more people. I watched a few playoff games from those year recently, and you could tell it was a totally different atmosphere then, and noticably louder than nowadays. I didn't know that. I remember the commentator mentioning how loud it was pre snap on the Pats opening posession, but that may not have been recorded.
  16. Greg Cosell is one of the few "pundits" whose opinions I actually care for. Very detailed in his film study. I'm not sure just how knowledgeable he is in regards to breaking down QBs, but his ability to "see" and dissect the game is uncanny. I wouldn't mind drafting Baker, but I don't see him coming into the league and lighting it up immediately like Watson did last year. The positives in Cosell's break down outweigh the negatives IMO, but I feel like he'll make some really boneheaded mistakes over the first couple of seasons. Sitting behind AJ for 6-7 games like Trubisky (or more, if AJ doesn't look like Glennon) and being able to focus more on his footwork would serve him well.
  17. I'm not in the "too many holes" crowd, but that quote doesn't mean much. In fact, "for the most part" and "don't have many glaring holes" are really just cup-half-full ways of saying "we have a few glaring holes".
  18. Thanks for posting OP. True or not, it's better than 99% of the threads we've endured over the last couple of months.
