  1. Why the hell did they bring him in in that situation? Down 2, 2 minutes left...was Glassford hurt?
  2. Yeah, but now we all suddenly love Vontae quitting, right? Completely different team since.
  3. Looking more and more like a good FA pick up with each game.
  4. They have had a rather "light" schedule so far, but their confidence is building. "Sneaky good" doesn't mean "amazing"... Big game coming this week for them.
  5. Dolphins are sneaky good, and Tanny is playing his best ball of his career. 10-1 in his last 11 starts. Really good in the trenches on both sides of the ball. If the Bills can continue to improve, Bills/Fins will be as exciting as it was 20 years ago, but don't underestimate them. They're really good.
  6. Overreaction IMO. The whole defense looked like hot dookie until the 2nd half of week 2. He's a rookie, the youngest at LB in the history of the modern NFL. He's going to struggle reading for a while, or take poor angles defending the pass at times. Opponents are going to focus their attack on your weakest areas, and more often than not, its the players with the least experience that are the weakest links. When it comes to Allen amd Edmunds, Bills fans need to GIVE IT TIME!!! Nothing that we're seeing from either player is unexpected at all. Not from me, or anyone else that did enough homework on these guys before suiting up as Bills. The issues that they're showing right now are the exact issues that I thought we'd see and posted here months ago. The only people that are surprised or genuinely "concerned" about them right now are the people that had the wrong expectations for them, and for this team this season. And the Bills really didn't give up "a lot" to get him.
  7. Part of me feels like its foolosh to make hard judgements after one game, but the issues shown by Allen on Sunday are certainly worrisome (but not necessarily unexpected though). Not thinking too much into them now, but I will be looking for progress in those areas later in the year. As a prospect, Allen was and still is well behind the curve. The talent is there, but as far as playing the position at a consistently high level, he has a lot of work to do. The game needs to slow down, he needs to not hesitate on quick passes, diagnose better pre-snap, and learn to make the veteran plays like when to throw it away and to slide. Those are all issues that come with time and experience. Seeing them now is one thing. Seeing them after 20+ games is another.
  8. Rivers is a HOF QB, no doubt. But it takes more than one player to win championships. Even a HOF calibur QB needs weapons, protection, and (especially when it comes to winning championships) a good/great defense. When has SD/LA had a top tier or close defense?
  9. Yes...it is up to the QB. That's part of his job, to properly direct the offense. That includes identifying blitzes pre-snap amd adjusting the protection. Its been a glaringly noticeable issue for Allen since week 2 of the preseason. This isnt an "offensive system" issue, its a "QB development" issue. There's a lot more to developing as an NFL quarterback than just going through progressions and making the proper reads. Making the proper pre-snap adjustments is part of that. Having the awareness to throw the ball away and live to see another down is part of that...etc. Its been one start for Allen. None of what we're seeing should come as a surprise to anyone, unless you have the wrong expectations. Too many people want to find someone to point the finger at, when it comes to the Bills' struggles so far this season. There's plenty of "blame" to go around; its not just one guy or one thing. QB gets blame at times, O-line at times, defense a lot. But most of us expected these kind of struggles going into the season. Some people just seemed to have lofty, unreasonable expectations; hope springs eternal before week 1. We all want to win and win now, but its just not reasonable based on how this team is currently constructed. This needed to happen, for future success...real success, not 8-8, 9-7. The Bills are shedding dead weight and cap, and getting younger and more talented at important posistions like QB, LT, CB, MLB. Its taking a step back to take 2 forward. Sorry for getting off the rails a bit, but it just seems like a lot of people have the wrong perspective on little details as well as the bigger picture.
  10. If it has to be one or the other and no trade down, I would take Bosa. In the "most important positions of the NFL" hierarchy, edge rusher is #2. Since the Bills are going to have to "pay up" in order to retain their best drafted players, it should be at the most important positions first. Adding a Mack/Miller calibur edge rusher would be a tremendous boost for the defense. Remember when the Bills drafted #3 overall in 2011? The general consensus was that the Broncos were going to draft Dareus @ #2 because DT was a major, major glaring hole on that team. Von Miller was considered to be a bit of a tweener by a lot of Bills fans, and was pegged to be drafted by the Bills. Denver instead took Miller, and the Bills got a great talent at DT...no need to elaborate further on those players and how it turned out, but the point is that the Broncos understood what's more important. Oliver would be a great addition as well, but if you have a chance at a player like Bosa, I wouldn't pass it up. Now if a team offered a decent trade down to around 3-7, I may be inclined to accept and add picks, but it would depend on the return, and what players might be available and where certains players are expected to go based on teams' draft slotting.
  11. So the youngest starting LB in the history of modern NFL looks like the youngest starting LB in the history of modern NFL...SHOCKER!
  12. The bolded penalty was on Jerry Hughes. It was a bad call because it was clearly a false start (knew it before seeing a replay), but after watching it again, I did notice that Hughes had his hand in the dirt in the neutral zone before the snap. But the play should have been blown dead due to a false start. It wasnt caused by Hughes jumping early and creating a reaction by the LT. Should have been offsetting penalties and a replay of the down. They did also blow a false start against Groy that would have blown the play of the first TD dead. And there was a terrible hold called against Mills(? may have been Miller) that negated a very nice run. The officials sucked dog $#!+ today.
  13. Maybe so, but there is a significant lack of talent on that side of the ball. Not looking for excuses, but I'd have a hard time believing that doesn't factor in. Also, the Bills are playing a rookie QB that has serious potential but also has some work to do. The game needs to slow down for him, and he's guilty of making inexperienced-QB miscues in different ways. Not surprising in the least, but that too has to affect an OC's ability to really open things up. The offense looks nothing like a finely-tuned machine, but I don't think it's a direct reflection of the OC.
  14. Aside from a poor run call on 3rd down (which the fans in attendance voiced their displeasure), I thought Daboll called a pretty good game. There were several plays left on the field by the rookie QB today (and last week by both QBs).
  15. Is that a UK thing? Like instead of saying "vacation", its called "holidays"? Dublin/Ireland is awesome! Went there in April, weather was perfect. Guinness is good, but i had Smithwicks Red all week. Definately going back!
  16. How much blame should he shoulder for losing 3 good starting linemen??? Not saying I'm for or against letting him go, but I doubt his potential replacement would get much more out of this group. Personally, I don't think during the season (this year/this team specifically) should be the time for any drastic changes, like firing Castillo or especially benching Allen. The Bills are tasked with winning games with a less talented roster and a 2nd place schedule. It was going to be a down year, to whatever extent, no matter what. It sucks watching your favorite team lose (or totally suck $#!+ like last week), but this team is being built for long term success. A lot of fans may not truly understand what McBeane is and has been doing, but its all with a purpose, to eventually acheive a higher goal. Unfortunately, patience in Bills fans is nearly non-existent, even after breaking the drought, and everyone wants everything right now, like the little spoiled girl in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Taking a quote from an Aerosmith song, "sometimes you gotta lose to know how to win".
  17. Bengals are a top 10 team this year, could be top 5. But yeah, Ravens look like hot garbage.
  18. He's only correct if we're assuming that those draft picks spent to trade up would turn into players that actually contribute. Trading up, theoretically, increases the chance of not only hitting on a player, but in this case, hitting on potentially really good players at pivotal positions. IMO, it was an odd comment. There's no right or wrong in that comment, because we don't yet know the end result with Allen/Edmunds. And since they traded away those picks, we'll never know the answer to the flip side. I suppose an argument can be made for both sides. However, we've seen some past Bills teams built via the draft, yet they never found that QB, rendering those players useless, essentially, since it didn't translate to a winning product, and those players ended up leaving for greener pastures anyways...
