How many Bills games have you been to
Drunken Pygmy Goat replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Three First was @ Miami 2012. It was horribly one-sided officiating, Chandler blew his knee, and Spiller had a 60+(iirc) yard run that nearly went for 6. Also got to see some drunken Dolphins fan get beat up by a couple redneck Dolphins fans. Second was 2013 @ Jacksonville. This was Manuel's first INT on a HB screen...we all remember his second one...Chad Henne had a field day, but Gilmore sealed the W with a late INT. Third was VS Denver 2017. First home game for me. Days after Trump made his comment about players kneeling. Awesome tailgating, but hot as hell...92 degrees is crazy for late September in Buffalo. Flew up from Florida the day before, and it was hotter in WNY on Sunday. Von Miller's "sike" pretty much sealed the game. And some lady stole a ketchup dispenser... Fourth TBD -
Wyatt Teller dominating run block
Drunken Pygmy Goat replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both very good points. This staff doesn't like letting go of their drafted players, and versatility is definitely coveted and a great strategy. BUT, at some point, having a player that is or could be very good at one position should trump a player that is just serviceable at multiple positions. Having big, athletic linemen that can pull adds another dimention and opens up the playbook in the run game, which only helps a young QB in the passing game. Josh Allen could really benefit from forcing defenses to put 8 in the box, and that only happens when you run the ball well. Pulling linemen creates an outnumber situation, and turns runs to the weak side into a strong side. McCoy really benefitted from pulls under Rex and Roman, and a young back like Singletary could really benefit from them, as he learns the speed of the game, and tries to build confidence. Back to Teller; what message are you sending your team by cutting a player that out-performed others, in favor of versatility? Now if these versatile guys step their game up and can do some of what Teller does well, then you have a discussion. But most of these versatile linemen are on one year deals, so that will factor in as well. -

I noticed quite a few plays involving pulling linemen. Since Greg Roman left, and especially since Incognito and Wood left, the Bills really haven't pulled linemen across the line very often. Good to see that it looks to be a factor this year, especially if McCoy is still in the fold. -
Future of the Bills Run Game
Drunken Pygmy Goat replied to HardyBoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wade cannot play in the regular season this year. He is relegated to PS only this year, as a granted "11th player" per league rule. He cannot be signed by another team at any point this year. At this point, rb#4 is between Yeldon and Perry. I expect to see Shady for a series or 2, Singletary for a couple series, then Yeldon and Perry splitting reps throughout the remainder of preseason games #2 &3. Yeldon may have fumbled in game 1, and was possibly an insurance signing pre-draft, but he may offer more than Perry and has experience as a starter. -
Baldy breaks down Oliver vs Nelson
Drunken Pygmy Goat replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was posted in this thread. Good pressure by Ed, but saying that he pushed Nelson "into Brissett" is an exaggeration. I will say that this was one of the worst Baldy "breakdowns" that I've seen as far as describing the play goes, but the overall theme is correct. Ed played his first professional game and drew an All Pro on most plays, and fared well enough considering the player in front of him. And having that assignment maybe was a blessing because it gives the coaches tape to show Ed that his hands game needs work. -
CB E.J Gaines placed on IR for Groin.
Drunken Pygmy Goat replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe he's trying to find a silver lining??? IDK, it is an odd comment. This is a "problem" that good teams have, and right now, it looks like there may be a few players on the Bills that will be in a different uniform in 3 weeks, although mainly in backup roles. It doesn't matter, really, other than the fact that watching a player cut from the Bills flourishing on another team can be a bit annoying. -

Apparently this only applies to players on the 53 man roster week 1 of the regular season, I assume to prevent player stashings. If correct, season is over for Gaines. -
Baldy breaks down Oliver vs Nelson
Drunken Pygmy Goat replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought the argument was "generational talent"? That was the original comment that triggered you. "Generational talent" is usually used to describe a young, up and coming player, often when coming out of college. This usually means the player has a very promising career, more so than most others. "Generational player" is usually used to describe a player from the past, or a current player with a long enough career that can be compared to other "generational players" from the past. You should also refresh yourself on what the suffix "-al" means. Good night -

I'm not sure what to make of this post. What's your deal? Are you saying the argument is "how long is a generation"? You never said "100 years", but your definition of "generational" in that quote extends beyond 100 years. Are you just ******* with people here or what? This cheese is smelly, but apparently I'm hungry. -

You brought up the history of the game. The league itself is playing their 100th season...j/s I wasn't being literal, just making a point. -
Defense was lights out against Colts
Drunken Pygmy Goat replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are a few reasons why the defense looks good (albeit preseason) and should be good this year (we all knows the things I'm about to mention, but I've been thinking about them a lot). *First of all, our defensive minded head coach entering his 3rd year. *Second, our former-head-coach/'85 Bear defensive coordinator, going into his 3rd year in Buffalo as well. We all know how important continuity is in football, and it finally seems like we have coaches in place that warrant continuity. *Third, we have a GM that is very well in tune with the types of players McDermott wants and needs for his defense to have the best chance for success. The old Parcells quote about being the cook and picking the ingredients comes to mind. McDermott is the cook, and Beane and the scouting department are his shopping staff. White (credit to our former GM and scouts) and Edmunds look like major hits in the draft, and we all know too well how missing on 1st rounders can set a team back for years. *Fourth, the Bills have done a good job of finding serviceable players on defense later in the draft. If they can land 1 late rounder that becomes a starter, especially early on, that's one less position to worry about next year, and on a cheap contract as well. And even if they cannot supplant certain starters right away, they may be in line to start when guys like Zo retire, or if guys like Hyde or Poyer get big bucks from other teams in free agency. Guys like Matt Milano (former GM/scouts) and Taron Johnson already have made names for themselves in this defense, and possibly guys like Siran Neal, Vosean Joseph, Jaquan Johnson, and Darryl Johnson could fill holes in the near future, but for now at least look like solid depth. *Fifth, the Bills have 10 out of 11 starters returning this season...more continuity. KW is the only one not back this year, but the Bills happen to have the perfect replacement fall into their laps. And let's be honest, Kyle was still decent, but his best days were behind him by a year or two. Time will tell how good Oliver becomes, but for now, we at least know we'll have an intense player with fresh legs, who "cares" and fits the culture. Also, they added a couple guys to the secondary, one of which played well in this scheme 2 years ago (edit, looks like IR for Gaines), and the other was a former first rounder, who's coach in Houston is now in Buffalo as well. Now maybe it was just preseason game #1, and some starters were out for both the Bills D and Colts O, but there were signs of encouragement with the starting unit. The run defense looked superb. Interior play was good. It looks like the game is slowing down for Edmunds. Lawson is very good at setting the edge, and perhaps not picking up the 5th year option may have lit a fire inside him. And the backups looked decent enough. With all that said, one thing that I noticed that might be worth watching is Milano in passing situations. Obviously teams are going to try and find weak spots and exploit them, and there may have been a glimpse of that on Thursday. Don't get me wrong, I like Milano. He always seems to be around the ball, does a pretty good job of sifting and knifing into the backfield, and has a bit of a knack for turnovers due to his instincts and being in the right place. BUT, speaking stricly from a pass coverage standpoint, he looked like a liability in man coverage (shocker, I know). Obviously his size and speed aren't top notch for his position, but guys like Edmunds don't grow on trees. Milano is just fine for what the Bills like to do, and having a fast, rangey/lengthy guy like Edmunds next to him makes his job a bit easier, but it looked like the Colts were picking on him a bit in the passing game. Underneath drag routes were open with plenty of seperation (their first 1st down came on a crosser to Milano's assignment), and there was one play where he was manned up with the RB (I believe) who was motioned out wide. Maybe it's a small sample, but it's a league of matchups and finding weaknesses, and with as much talent as the Bills have elsewhere on defense this year, I think that could be a theme throughout the season. Not trying to rain on the parade here...if that's our biggest or only noticeable weakness, we're good. I expect the defense to play similar to the 2017 unit; bend-don't-break, clamp down in the RZ and hold teams to FGs, DBs with eyes in the backfield and playing the ball/routes aggressively, and being opportunistic in creating turnovers. Sacks may be up, but I'm not sure to what extent. As long as the pressures are up, the back end should thrive. This defense seems to give up the underneath stuff willingly, whether it's a short crosser, or comeback routes on the boundary. They want to eliminate the deep pass first, and eventually "win" on enough plays to keep scores lower or take the ball away. If that means picking on Milano a bit, so be it. They'll get theirs, but we'll get ours, and our "ours" will be much more important in the grand scheme. I think that's the mentality, and it seemed to be that way in 2017. -
Baldy breaks down Oliver vs Nelson
Drunken Pygmy Goat replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm guessing that most of is aren't doing that, but the AP does. We're simply going off of the fact that he was an early pick that earned AP All Pro honors as a rookie. Being a "generational talent" in sports (IMO) refers to a time frame of about 15-20 years, not 100. -

He also mentioned a double team that looked like a single with the oline down blocking. -
IIRC the week 3 game on 8/23 is a national broadcast, so that could be why.

I love it when people try to make a point and don't have a clue what they're talking about.

From what I understand, you should be fine for all games that aren't being broadcasted locally to you. The negotiations between DTV and CBS stations is based on individual, regional stations specifically. So even though some DTV customers are getting CBS back, its strictly based on where they live, because those individual stations are striking new deals w/DTV. Also, when you watch a game via ST, you dont see the local stations' paid commercials, you only see the commercials that have paid the NFL directly. That's because you arent watching any local station's feeds. Those broadcasts belong to the NFL. When you try to watch a game on ST that is being broadcast locally in your area, it is blacked out on ST and you are forced to watch the local feed. That's where you may encounter an issue. So if the Bills aren't being broadcast on the Philly CBS affiliate at all this year, you're good. Sure you can. There are work-arounds that are described in this thread. What you wont get is the 4 or 8 game mix channels for NFL games. And no option to record unless you purchase something seprately for that.
-
Its really not that difficult. I did that a few years ago and it worked great (only issue was sound quality was not 100%, but maybe 90% when using Chromecast to tv). First, download a geo spoofing app like Fake GPS. If you search NFL Gamepass APK, you can then download what isn't available in the states via Google Play, etc. Based on the fake "Euro location" you choose, there may be a different charge, so you may want to research based on country (Example: a few years ago, it was like $99 in The Netherlands, but $180 in Spain). As for payment, they will accept your US address credit card.
-
You should be able to as long as you have an internet browser. They have an app as well, so you may be able to download that to your tv. I use reddit via XBOX One browser and it works great.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-Season Game 1

On the Zay drop, the throw wasn't bad. It did look like the sun played a role. The shadows on the field were very long, and it looked like the ball traveled from being under the shadow of the stadium, into sunlight just before it got to Zay, and the ball was in his face. That being said, it looked like Zay took his eyes off the ball before he caught it, maybe sensing an incoming defender. Should he have caught it? Yes, but it may have been a bit more difficult of a catch as it's being made out to be. I think we've seen worse drops from Zay. -
